Default Major News: Two DIFFERENT RARITIES for Tin Promos!

Check it.

*credit to shobuboy for pointing this out*

You may have seen shobuboy's thread on this, but I'll put it here because there's no proof in the original post there.

It's true. There are tins that contain promos that have Secret Rare Lettering AND Secret Rare foil, NOT the Ultra Rare foil that the first wave of tins had.

The top link is an example of cards that have Secret Rare Text AND Secret Rare Foil.

Here's a fairly good comparison of Blade Knights

SCR Text, Ultra Foil

SCR Text, Secret Foil

My theory on this is that the first wave of tins was messed up, like the first wave of MFC had the wrong art for Dark Paladin. It makes sense, as all the past tins have followed the Secret Rare Lettering/Foil pattern, and it was strange that a new kind of promo was introduced for these tins.

I could be wrong, but it merits discussion.

I don't think that it was a mistake, maybe it is like a 1/e unlimited thing, the originals look much better. I hope those are the ones I get...

spoontang seems to be the one all over these things, first new promos for PS2 and GBA yesterday and now this. Next hes gonna find out the pictures of the ultimate rares for us :p. Good work and it seems reasonable to think this because UDE has made many many errors before. I say to the ppl who got the ultra ones and they turn out to be misprints, keep them they could be worth more.
edit- there is never an unlimited run for tin cards, they are always printed as LIMITED EDITION

To be fair, credit goes to shobuboy for pointing this out. I reposted it because his thread was full of spam.

Spoontang: Talk about being obsessed with the game! Do you spend all your free time researching, or what? ;)

But seriously, thanks shobuboy. This is very interesting. Hopefully it wasn't a mistake, and we will continue to see more of this new rarity.

Very, very interesting.

This kind of makes sense because they let the retail stores have them so early, I have to say I am a little dissapointed

Do you mind further explaining your point? What exactly do you mean it makes sense because retail stoers got them early?

Jeez, with all the uproar over misprints and such, I'm surprised there aren't more responses...

ok I am confused (as always). The first tins (the ones I bought last friday) are the ones that are misprinted, correct? So if I go an buy tins now they will be the secret rare? Man upperdeck you are confusing the heck out of me. While they were messing up the print why don't they fix the card text while they are at it. I mean come on you print a card and it is already messed up (referring to insect queen)

I doubt this is a misprint; I just hope they will always have two different rarities for the tine promos.

Bleh, I got the SCR lettering. I'll have to try and trade mine for the ultra lettering.

Weren't the letterings the same, but the picture, on some, was not Secret Rare?

Now I'm confused.

that link makes it look like they are the secret rare print. The ones I got last week were the secret rare lettering and ultra rare holo.

That's what I thought. Secret Rare lettering and Secret Rare picture, or Secret Rare name and Ultra Rare picture.

I believe the whole point of this thread was the fact that there was a new rarity printed.

It is so far unknown. Some theoryies are either random, or possibly sorted like retail and hobby boxes.

well they couldn't really make it random because the picture can be seen from outside the tin.

I want a picture of the Ultra Rare picture first, so I can compare and see what I like better. Does anyone have a clear picture of one?

I never knew that, I assumed it was similiar to the other tins.

I guess it must be Ultra Rares at retail places then.

my theory is if those actually correspont to retail and hobby, ultra rare retail variant should be rarer than the secret rare variant (because of internet preorders and dealers and so on) 1 to 2 ratio just like the set?
