Charlotte Regionals Report (1st ever Top 8!) ~Decklist now Posted~
Ok so, I was planning on running a million different things for this, and couldn't decide what to do. So night b4, when Mark (Meratsu Doki), Adam, and Andrew all stay over, I decide to put some Monarch like deck together and see how it works, it does good enough to keep it together so I use that. We have a blast the night b4 cracking jokes and just doing whatever.
We get to the regionals next day with like 15 minutes to spare cause we left a bit late, but we all get time to see the people we want to see. For me, I saw my amp teammates (Cody, Richard Treadwell, Matt and Jordan Fowler), chris watkins (MachineChaosTitan), Allison (Seto_Kaiba0101) and awesome guys from spots (michael, jonathan, and tyler), Richard Burgess and WP! crew. I talk to them all throughout the day. Anyways, skip the normal stuff to round 1.
R1: Alex Davis vs. cool little azn kid
G1: LMAO I get wrecked, first it's drain shield on my zaborg then Ring/Barrel on my zaborg. Then at the end I have Cyber/Ring, he has Cyber/Proto, plays limiter when it's 32/75, I'm like gfg >_<.
G2: He plays WMC and a set mt, I have a pro storm set, my turn flip it, flip reaper, attack into open field, gg few turns later.
G3: Not much to say, gg.
R2: Alex Davis vs. Mexican dude.
G1: He cyber/Jinzo's me first turn and hangs on to that jinzo virtually the whole duel. He gets me down to 2500 cause he keeps swinging with jinzo on my fd mons. He eventually has Cyber on pre and jinzo out, so I have to SS Cyber, ram his cyber, then in mp2 SS another cyber in defense and set a dead faith just to make sure I stayed alive next turn. He hits my cyber, ends, I draw, end, he draws sacks jinzo for zaborg to kill my faith, and attacks, I ring. I'm at 100 to his like, +5000 at least. After that I get a zaborg of my own out on his f/d and just keep the zaborg on the field and own him till it's game.
G2: I just wreck him with DW/Stein side.
R3: god, I forgot this one as well, but there wasn't much to say about it anyway, I prolly 2-0'd.
R4: Had to face my friend Andrew, who was using a sackworld deck that just WRECKS people. We both were fearing this from the start. I knew he would win right off the bat cause the only thing I had to combat his DW monsters were sided DW's of my own and a random Banisher I mained.
G1: I try to set as little as possible so he couldn't get his dwl's off, and if it was set I made sure it was a chainable mt. he just kept getting deko and jar draws + his few good traps, and I eventually have to set defensive traps, but I get rolled by Grace and DWL's.
G2: I side into just 4 DW's and stein and I out MST for a DWL cause he runs 3 Jar o' Greeds. But it all didn't matter, he got his DWL's on the cards I had to set, and he gets grace/sangan all the nuts on me while I run dry.
Both gg's, andrew deserved a T8 here more than half the actual T8. Only reason he didn't get in was cause of a random deck check in his round against allison, in which he forgot to side out some cards from last match, and another round in which he got uber sacked/steined or something like that if I recall.
R5: Alex Davis vs. Mario Baldo
This guy would be the cause of a lot of trouble today. He later on faced Allison and basically cheated a win out of her, literally. Something about her ringing a dragon for game, but him not taking down LP count nor taking the dragon off the field, and since no one around could confirm it actually happened, judges ruled against allison, which is bull****, because there were still lots of ppl still playing and watching that whole area.
G1: I have control whole way through. He eventually steins me with End but I have sak down and he can't hold out but 2/3 more turns while I clear his **** for a push.
G2: I side into DW stuff to try and end fast. I get stein early/mid and get him down to 17, me at 18. It goes back and forth a few turns with me ending up at 400 him at 200. I get frog back, sack for gold, hit his used breaker for game.
R6: Forgot the name/face of the guy but it was easy 2-0.
R7: Alex Davis vs. Preston
G1: He didn't have much and I take it fast.
G2: he had a little better stuff but overall not much btr than G1.
At this point I was sooo nervous I was about to start shaking. Everyone that knows me well knows that I've been close to T8ing for a year now, and I get close a lot, but have never T8'd. All I had to do was win my next match and I was in. It took SCG's about an hour it seemed to get from R7 to R8.
R8: Alex Davis vs. Chris Carpenter
G1: My Random Cyber Phoenix beat him down for over 4000. I then just get enough stuff to take it.
G2: Neither of us side a single card. I start off and am able to do some lp damage early, then he takes control with a mobius. I'm running low on cards now, no monsters, ring set, 1 in hand. I draw Cylinder. I set my whole hand to the backfield and end. It's 56/48. he goes, attacks with mobius, I cylinder, then ring for game. I know I sacked that hard but he was a good sport about it and still congratulated me on T8ing, cool guy.
So after this I'm extremely excited that I finally got a T8. After almost 18 or so events of yewgimonz dating back to SJC Charlotte, I finally T8. Sean Burris (TribeAttack) goes in undefeated like the pimp he is. Jordan Fowler also T8's, as well as Jon Sarvis, putting 4 Amp in T8.
T8 R1: Alex Davis vs. Mario Baldo
G1: Take it fast.
G2: I start out great but my draws turn bad while he gets his power cards and starts owning.
G3: I side into DW. I start with Silver in hand and I confi to see his reaper/don in hand, so I try and bluff set my **** to get him to attack, he doesn't though so I press with what I have to wear down his resources and we eventually both get down to a few cards each. I top into Charity, play it and draw into a 2nd Silver and a DWL. I ditch the two silver and attack w/ both direct (that's my first damage on him). He draws and sets 1 each. I draw, DWL his mt, ditch sak armor for it, and hit his mon with a silver. It's sangan, he pulls ddwl or something hit again direct with a silver, pass. He draws and sets a mon, I hit with one on his ddwl and then the other for game.
Revenge is sweet.
T4: Alex Davis vs. Jeffery Daniels
I'd seen this kid play at lots of regs. before.
G1: He has the stein nuts.
G2: I side into DW/stein and stein him.
G3: He goes set one monster and a back row. I played Exiled and destroyed his face down which was twin headed. He brought it back, sacked off for Mobius to destroy my sak armor, and then played Last Will to get Stein for game. *sad panda*
It was all good, I still got what I came for, a T8, my invite, a mat I actually won, and some packs, which I pulled crap out of xD.
Props:
- As always, biggest prop is hanging out with all of the cool people there. Amp, WP!, and all of you cool guys w/o a team xD.
- T8ing finally after about a year and a half of playing competitively.
- Fuel's Pizza kicks sooo much ass.
- My deck for 2-0ing a lot today. It ran almost flawlessly.
- Andrew/Allison/Richard Burgess almost T8ing.
- E-hero Deck getting 9th (NO JOKE)
Slops:
- Everything that happened with Allison. She got into disagreements with Andrew AND Mario...
- Richard and Matt dropping early due to being sacked hard.
- Andrew getting uber bad luck with the random deck check and that costing him T8.
- Not much else, literally the best regionals I've been to due to all of the awesome people I hung out with and the absolutely stunning performance my deck gave me.

Thanks a lot guys, it was major fun yesterday playing and seeing all u guys. Unfortunately I won't be at G-boro, it's a little too far out of my way XD, if I had a ride I might go but that's a long shot.
Also, Sean and Jordan both made T4, but they both had to go so they scooped for prize split, so I guess that does mean Jeffrey won the whole thing after he beat me.

Just one minor detail I noticed was wrong about what you posted about our match. In game 3 I didn't have Graceful or premature. I went first and set one monster and a back row. You played Exiled and destroyed my face down which was twin headed. I brought him back, sacked off for Mobius to destroy your sak armor, and then played Last Will for Stein for game. So basically I got pretty damn lucky but I guess with stein that's all this format is about. Anyway, gg man.
