Drak’s San An Regs Report 9/9/06

Alright, San An regs had 131 registered players, but there were some people there just to take a look at decks too that decided not to play (T-A-B-L-E_D-E-C-K-E-R-S). My good friend, Steven Jaster, drove in from Houston and we stayed up play testing with a couple of the guys. Ok, and now lemme show you what I was workin with:

Alrighty, and now to reconstruct the rounds as much as I can. I did take a new approach to scoring though, when there’s LP lost, I write down what from beside it (started in roundish 4 or so though) so when my opponent disagrees I’ll call judge and have it written down. Take 2 seconds longer to do than regular score keeping too.

Rnd I: Drakar vs Donne Lovton (Random Stein, Germs, and searchers)

Duel 1: Right off the bat, I’m talking 2nd turn, the guy steins me. I go from 8000 to 600, he from 8000 to 3000, he brings out Twin, attacks my **** and ends. See, this is why I wear shades ladies and gents (not only cause I’m pimp like that), but so you don’t see the pain, disgust, and anguish in my eyes after some BS like that. He did leave me 600 lp though (big mistake). I go, smash his twin, attack direct with cyber dragon 600-900, set MoF and sakuretsu and let him go. He sacs stein for jinzo and attacks cyber 300-900. I flip MoF, sac for Zaborg and GG, I beat the 2nd turn random stein.

Duel 2: How do you side against the random stein? Long duel, I start out ahead, confi 1st turn 7000-8000, atk direct with tomato 7000-6600, got him with something else 7000-4700, and then things start to suck. “All I remember Sarge is the screams and the blood, oh God the blood!” And then I’m at 5600 with a set MST, treeborn in the grave, jinzo in hand, top-decking. Guy NEVER sets as I top deck every tribute in my deck while he top-decks every weiny in his. 56-46-36-28-18-800. I COME BACK, FINALLY mst, sac for zaborg, kill his attacking germ, and atk face down… Another Germ. WTF?!?! GG

Duel 3: The last duel pissed me off. So this one is MUCH better. He popped me early with something small for 400, 8000-7600, and I immediately respond with an over extension to take him out of stein range 76-41, and from there I watch as he falls pray to all m/t and monsters that die to my flip-flop destruction. I start attacking with sand moth, 4000-3000-2000-1000 & set ring, draw, GG. He shows me stein in his hand.

2-1, Match

Rnd II: Drakar (1-0) vs Blake Cantu (Apprentice, tomato control)
Duel 1: I won’t say much about this duel. It disgusts me. I draw a total of 3 monster (a vindictive, a night assailant, and a jinzo) while he draw 2 vindictives, sangan, ddwl, and so on. All I know is I’m killing weinys with smashing to save my life and even had to saku a sangan because I’m not drawing SH-EEEE-T!!! Drak: 80-75.5-57.5-47.5-28.5-23.5-5.5-0 Blake: 80-62 (off a confi and a prema at that)

Duel 2: All I remember is that is was just exiled rapage. I used force at LEAST 4 times to keep him with nothing. LP is unimportant as he bows down to the sept 1st ban list.

Duel 3: This duel was so f’ing close. In the end though, here’s the game breaking moment. We’re top decking. I have a face-down sand moth, he has a face-down vindictive (I thought as much too), and I top into twin-headed. I summon, attack f/d with twin. He’s at 1350, I’m at 4000. He chooses to destroy my face-down. Moth comes back and attacks for game with almighty 2000 attack. A-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!! (Evil Laugh)

2-1, Match
Rnd III: Drakar (2-0) vs Brandon De Jong (GK deck)

Duel 1: To get things started he pops me one in the eye with his newdoria 68-80, so I return the favor with smashing and tomato 68-66. He smashing’d and set. I attack with sangan, he cylinders 58-66. I play wave-motion. It pops him for a whopping 4000 as he’s already used breaker and mst. 58-26. I confi, throw his only monster, and puch attacking with sangan and other used flips. 48-200. I ring his sangan FTW.

Duel 2: I didn’t even see past the cookie in his deck, so I can’t side for it. He mst’s my set goat, I chain, and now have goats and reaper. He then proceeds to **** me with necrovalley, spears soldiers, and assailants. Damn goats. 0-6400

Duel 3: NOW, I side dust & cease (as I didn’t prep for anything other than machines) and take out call and prema. We reaper each other first. I leave him with terra and necro to take his swap, he leaves me with NoC, goats, and kills smash. It then goes down-hill from there as he rushes me with tomato, assailant, and spear as I draw, what? Confiscation, Last Will, Brain Control, and Pot of Avarice with 4 monsters in the gy. 0-7700

1-2, Match

Rnd IV: Drakar (2-1) vs Elijah Vieyra (Fairy/ Freed Return)

Duel 1: I pop the guy with breaker direct after killing his saku 80-64, he summons freed and atks 79-64, I kill it and with something and then it’s 75-48. I start popping him with sangan until it’s 54-17. He killed sangan, popped me with ohka, and I kill him with jinzo ad sand moth.

Duel 2: Guy makes, what I think, are dumb moves. He brain controls my sangan!!! And Gives it back!!! But, he OTK’s me with summoning 2 sould of purity and light and freed, I mirror, he rftdd’s, I torrential, and then he rftdd’s again. Damn, just damn.

Duel 3: This is all that matters. He’s top-decking and has a shinging angel on the field. I have +3 hand and a set moth and cyber dragon on the field. Score is 900-300. HE TOPS A GORYU!!! Sacs angel, hits moth’s 2000 def with 2900 trample that dies at the end of the turn.

1-2, Match

I’m disgusted right now as I’m not going to have decent tie breakers with fairy dude. Oh well, maybe I’ll have a better opponent this next round.

Rnd V: Drakar (2-2) vs Blake Colburn the IV (Exodia)

Duel 2: 8000- 0 Exiled, Zaborg, DDWL

Rnd VI: Drakar (3-2) vs Carlos Alberto (Um… he ran jinzo and never said anything…)

Duel 1: I confi, 70-80, ring his mobius, he summons jinzo later, I kill it, and attack with my own over and over. 46-48, 46-24, 46-0.

Duel 2: His reflect bounder (only machine I played ALL day, not even a dekoichi) attacks my used breaker. 79-80. Next turn I rush with a prematured zab, jinzo, and twin headed, 79-17, and he draws a trap. GG

2-0, Match

Rnd VII: Drakar (4-2) vs Michael Marceaux (Burn)

Why oh why did I not side for burn before I came?! Why oh why have I not hit chimera-stein?! Why oh why do you hate me God?!

Duel 1: He pays for messenger of peace the entire duel and I **** him with my little used flips that kill his monsters and sand moth who has 1000 atk. He uses ceasefire, just desserts, and stealth bird on me so I know it’s a burn. He later solemns my heavy storm, so I know it’s a serious burn, and I game him with attacking moth, guard, and exiled. 29-0

Duel 2: He looks so sad, like he was expecting to win the first duel. Oh well. He sides all 15 of his side deck, doesn’t phase me as I used to side in multiple copies of cards I ran 1 of before I knew what a side was just so I could say “I side 15” and see my oponent’s face. S’all gravy. Match ends fast. Twin-headed gets around his gravity bind and breaker later kills it. I remember I sac and prema twin the same turn and he tries to say twin goes to 1000 stats. JUUUUUUUDGE!!! Twin stays at 1500 and ***** him. Ring helps me even lp and I go FTW with a returned twin-headed (like died and came back returned) and a called exiled to pop his face-down, and a sangan. GG

2-0, Match

Rnd VIII: Drakar (5-2 with horrible tie breakers) vs Roger Brunson (tomato-app I think) TBL 9

I had more fun in this one match than I did the rest of the day. Guy thinks he has a shot at top 8’ing and offers me a Cyber Dragon Ice Cream. I accept.

Duel 1: I confi, and then I started doing crazy **** like turn my goat to attack and attacking his goat. He puts one into attack and I attack his atk position goat with mine, we call Blake and ask if they die and he says they are removed from play and that I get to summon a dark magician. I ask to borrow one, but people are stingy with their dark magicians or they just don’t main deck them for some weird reason. Even though I’m playing like a mad man he’s STILL having trouble with my deck. Guard ***** him while I have a face-up DDWL on the field and he keeps exiled’ing my sand moths. So, I start summoning my flips in attack and ramming my goats into his stuff.

Duel 2: This duel is the same, he has a bit of trouble as I’m neg one-ing myself as much as possible and I start attacking his face-downs with my goats. We’re laughing so hard and I actually won.

Duel 3: Now his deck starts being a bit more consistent as he’s swapping for my stuff. He still exiled’s a moth though ROFLMAO!!! I enjoy my ice cream and he hopes to T8.

1-2, Match

So 5-3 with a cyber dragon. I finish 39/131 and get my 1 pack of PotD. I pull an ult overload.

Props:
- Coming back from a random stein
- Beating burn even though I had no side for it
- Coming back from 0-1 starts
- Yugimonz flavored ice cream
- Pulling Ult Overload
- Getting some decent trades
- Having fun with Jaster
- My roommate, Quan Vo, who goes to his first ever regs with a horrible burn deck build (like barrel behind the door and ring of destruction, solar flare, build) and still finsished 4-4, 77/131.
- Jaster, who plays the Chimera Overkill Dragon deck with his own and has fun all day
- Sand Moth who owns

Flops:
- Losing to a top-decked Goryu
- Siding 10 cards against chimera-stein and NEVER hitting it
- Not drawing monsters even though I ran plenty of them
- Not being paid a DIME for gas or being thanked for anything by the other person who went with us to San An
- UT for getting their butts handed to them

Did he knock you out of top 8 or steal your birthday. People do it all the time. I judge everywhere and I never see it but I hear about it later. You got to remember this is a game. Hope you got your point thru to everyone.

Good question. I think I smashed and he called it back. Nonetheless, my notes show i got a direct off with cyber, so I'm pretty sure that's how it happened.

As to others, thanks for positive input. I did get alot of great ideas for SJC ATX so be on the look out for a tall white guy, dressed nice, and pimpin the shades See ya'll then
