Neko's Olathe, KS regional report

Here’s what happened in my (Alex Howland) experience at the Olathe, KS regionals on July 15.

Round 1:
Game 1:
I go first with a mystic tomato and a royal decree f/d. He goes, sets a monster and a S/T f/d and ends. By the time I finally attack his LPs directly and get him down to 6600, he scoops.

Round 1:
Game 2:
He sides in four cards. Plays Cyber Stein, brings out Cyber End Dragon. Attacks my f/d magician of faith, I take 3600. LPs are at 4400/5000. I draw. Play snatch steal, sangan attacks stein, strike ninja, and Cyber end attack for game.

My score is now 1/0

Round 2:
Game 1:
I start with a tomato and Nobleman of Crossout f/d and end. He goes, plays swords of revealing light then summons UFOturtle and attacks. I get newdoria. By the end of the first game I’m at 8000 still and he’s at 600. I win.

Round 2:
Game 2:
He stalls for five turns with Gravity bind and The Dark Door until I bring out blowback dragon, and then destroy gravity bind and his two spirit reapers. Final score of this round 6000/200. I win again.

My score is now 2/0

From here on I can’t remember how the damage was dealt but I do have the LPs.

Round 3:
Game 1:
This was one of my more pathetic duels. I don’t remember too much about this duel, except I lost. The final score was 1900/5900.

Round 3:
Game 2:
This game I did a little better. I almost beat him. Final score was 200/1500.

My score is now 2/1

Round 4:
Game 1:
In this duel I got to go against one of 31st century’s members, Le. I slaughtered him. Final score came to 8000/1000.

Round 4:
Game 2:
He managed to get me down to 5700. But by the time he did that he was already at 2000. Final score was 5700/800.

My score is now 3/1

Round 5:
Game 1:
Don’t remember much about this duel either, but I know I won with the LPs being at 3200/800.

Round 5:
Game 2:
I got owned by Cyber end and limiter removal. Final score came to 0/2200.

Round 5:
Game 3:
This guy really made me angry. The only monsters he summoned all game were sangan and spirit reaper. I finally managed to get out Chaos Sorcerer only to have it snatched next turn. Final score was 2800/8000.

My score is now 3/2

Round 6:
Game 1:
This was a close game. It seriously could have gone either way, unfortunately my opponent won. Final score was 2300/2700.

Round 6:
Game 2:
Another close game. I got him down to 1500, but he beat me. Final score was 200/1500.

My score is now 3/3

This duel was just a casual game I had between round 6 and round 7. I had seen him dueling earlier in the day and wanted to see how well I could do against him. It was a VERY close game. And we were both top decking. I’m at 900 and he is at 400. He tops POA and gets harpy lady summons it. So now he has sacred phoenix and harpy lady 1 on the field. All I have is two face down cards and a cyber dragon in defense. He wins.

Round 7:
Game 1:
In the first game I’m at 4700 he’s at 1200. I win by flip summoning D.D. warrior lady. He chains torrential tribute. I chain with royal decree, then he chains MST to destroy decree. I then summon newdoria and attack for exactly game.

Round 7:
Game 2:
He only did 1000 points of damage to me in this game. He was at 2300. He had just summoned chaos sorcerer. On my next turn I played snatch steal and had breaker, sangan, Strike Ninja, and his chaos sorcerer attack for game. I feel bad for beating him because afterwards he grabs his cards and bends them and starts crying.

My score is now 4/3

This may not mean anything to anyone but I’m really proud of myself because the last two regionals I was at I didn’t do as good. So YEAH!!!!


During the time the top eight were dueling I was playing someone in keeps. He had put up a Don Zaloog for my (SDY) Dark Magician. He wins the first game with LPs at 1200/6100. But I come back in the second game and win with LPs at 3400/100. Then beat him again in the third game with LPs at 900/1900. So I end up with a free Don Zaloog.
