Default The Hunt for BLUE October: Drak's SJC Austin Report

Alright, so here is my ATX SJC report. First off, let me start by thanking all the cool people there: Tony Moguel, Steven Jaster, Russel Jenson, Jacob Jacobson, and Brad Poth just to name a few. (If I didn’t name you don’t feel bad, I’m just going off the top of my head here) Before I begin, let me give you a feel for what was inside my head about Shonen Jump Austin:

1) I was very surprised that some form of Chimeratech didn’t T8 at SJC Boston. I pegged this format to be all about machines as you could OTK off of topped pieces of stein & Chimeratech (more on this later)

2) I was/am very tired from the 2 nights before. I got possessed to make a new playmat & would not sleep until the ideas in my head were transferred to fabric as best as possible. New playmat can be seen here.

3) I playtested against 2 people and essentially 6 decks. Tony Moguel & Quan Vo (my brother & my roommate) played me with a myriad of decks including burn, cookie with teched sand moths, my own secondary deck (I’ll show you later), a crazy deck that ran 6 tributes (none of the monarchs), a hydrogeddon monarch control (aptly named hydrosis, &, on this one, ya’ll should ask for tony to post his decklist as I really liked it), and a complete cookie deck with the random stein and all. On average, I won 4 out of 7 matches (tweaking my deck the whole way).

4) I knew stein would be a problem so I built my deck to shut it down as best as I could without losing playability and consistency against other deck types.

And, after a week of playtesting, here is/was my creation:

Drip Drop Control
A.K.A. Your eyes start to Drip as your cards start to Drop Control

1|Tp8|Zaborg the Thunder Monarch
3|Sd4|Mobius the Frost Monarch
3|Crv|Cyber Dragon
1|Sd6|Breaker the Magical Warrior
1|Sd5|D.D. Warrior Lady
1|Sye|Sangan
1|Sdj|Magician of Faith
1|Sd2|Spirit Reaper
1|Sd1|Twin-Headed Behemoth
3|Sd4|Mother Grizzly
1|Soi|Treeborn Frog
1|Pgd|Yomi Ship
1|Lon|Revival Jam
2|Cmc|Abyss Soldier
2|Sd4|Fenrir
1|Sd3|Heavy Storm
1|Sd8|Mystical Space Typhoon
1|Mrl|Confiscation
1|Db2|Graceful Charity
1|Sd7|Premature Burial

3|Crv|Spiritual Water Art - Aoi
1|Sod|Mind Crush
2|Lod|Bottomless Trap Hole

Drip Drop Control Sides into M.A.S.K. (Monarch Ameba Swap Kontrol)
It was named & ran in a reg by a fellow pojoer, Centric, but it was made by tony a week or so after the September ban came out.

-SIDE DECK-
1|Een|Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
1|Psv|CeaseFire
1|Mfc|Wave-Motion Cannon
2|Sd6|Mystic Box
2|Sd2|Creature Swap
2|Mrl|Ameba
1|Dod|Widespread Ruin
1|Sd3|Nobleman of Crossout
2|Sd5|Exiled Force
1|Sdj|Scapegoat
1|Een|Pot of Avarice

So, here are some quick notes about the deck:

1) AOI & Mind Crush are some sick chainables with hand disruption. Not only do I get my choice of discard, but I get to see your options for the next few turns. I would chain AOI to some form of monster removal & BAM! Mind Crush usually was the first link in an AOI chain so I could hurt you further (Especially if you had copies of cards in your hand).

2) The Main deck mained 9 traps and the side used 4. Decree was not a problem.

3) The main deck’s inspiration can be traced back to Jerome McHale’s “Lost at Sea” article.

4) Ameba was usually comboed with a cyber dragon and creature swap to take the opponent out of stein range in 1 turn.

5) Revival Jam was used as a floater mainly or a way to control how much LP I lost (I take 1000 lp now vs taking 2400 direct from you monarch next turn). Also, Jam could be searched by grizzly. A 1500 attack pull with a searcher is AWESOME!

6) Mobius is AWESOME in this format. Hitting 2 m/t’s is STILL the way to go IMO. People usually run more monsters than M/T’s so taking out 2 of them, even if one is chainable, leaves your opponent at a disadvantage. Furthermore, maining 3 mobiuses destroys burn and/or stall.

7) The deck doesn’t have many monsters lingering from the chaos era. The point was to get away from them and use monsters that people had never seen nor thought of. How many times can you say that you played against abyss soldier or revival jam?

8) When I sided, I usually side in 13 cards (all but wu-lord and ceasefire). Smokescreening is my best friend now.

9) Fenrir. Fen-the effing-rear!!! Ram him into Don: 2-for-1. Opponent chains goat. Leave them all. Munch! Munch! Munch! Activate AOI thenattack with fenrir: You have NO unknowns. I <3 Fenrir.

10) Yomi ship is just my personal playstyle. I’m used to tomato control with newdoria & pulling him to ram is nice. Also, if a searcher hits him he doesn’t die forcing your opponent to debate attacking it and losing a cyber or another bigger monster or using their m/t to kill it.

11) Abyss Solider. Hrmm… He bounced things back to feed fenrir’s cost & he was a stable attacker. That’s about all I can say for him other than he looks cool.

Here are what my sides usually looked like:

2 Ameba – 2 Fenrir
2 Exiled – 2 Abyss
2 Swap – 2 AOI
1 Box – 1 AOI
1 Box – 1 Crush
1 PoA – 1 BTH
1 NoC – 1 BTH
1 Wide – 1 Econ
1 Wave – 1 Mob
1 Goat – 1 Yomi

And now for some brief notes about the report. I experimented with something new that I call annotated lifepoints. Taking annotated lifepoints means everytime there’s an lp change you briefly mark why. It helps tourney reports and it helps on the judge ruling & questioning “When did I lose this” or “What do you have me at?”

Rd I: Drakar vs Steven Cardona (Rank 85 after Rd 9) TBL 69

Duel 1: Steven opened with a Graceful Charity. He was running a Beastdown deck (you do NOT wanna see trample when you run as many low def monsters as I do) with a SPoN. I had a set treeborn & AOI to open, he lowered with iggy and attacked, I chained AOI, replay insued, but he said I still took 1400. I got to peek & pop his hand.

Drak 6600 < Steven 8000

I smashed Iggy and he then summoned some wind monster that had an MS LVL 4 effect called winged sage falcos. I liked that tech. He tried to attack into my trebborn again, but I chained another AOI & popped his hand while he popped me direct.

Drak 4900 < Steven 8000

Now I got my chance to strike back. I specialed Cyber & Normaled DDWL. Cyber hit his Falcos & DD hit him direct.

Drak 4900 < Steven 6100

He smashed Cyber & passed to me. DD hit him direct once again

Drak 4900 > Steven 4600

I tried to one-up him for advantage a turn later by specialing Fenrir and attacking his set monster only to find out that it was a set Iggy

Drak 4400 < Steven 4600

His Iggy came down on my DDWL and we both lost our monsters

Drak 4100 < Steven 4600

He set, killed fenrir somehow & then it was my turn. I specialed cyber dragon, normaled fenrir, NoC’ed his facedown and swung direct with both

Drak 4100 > Steven 1000

He couldn’t come back & my dragons took him out

Duel 2: I smokescreened into M.A.S.K. ( I always assumed that my opponents would side decrees &, against trample, I really needed the field presence). As this was a beast down (Iggys & discarded berserks gave it away) I opted to keep in my BTH for SPoN.

I’m not sure what my first turn nor his was like, but I know I summoned breaker, used the counter, and then he followed me up next turn with berserk gorilla to kill my breaker.

Drak 7600 < Steven 8000

I then followed with a set grizzly and he used berserk to attack my searcher. I pulled another grizzly (jam was in my hand as was frog) & he let me go. I did some setting and passed. He NoC’ed my frog, summoned DDWL, hit my bear for 100 and ***** me direct with berserk.

Drak 5500 < Steven 8000

I specialed CyDra, smashed berserk & hit him direct

Drak 5500 < Steven 5900

The next bit was a blur. I know he got out SPoN & was ****** me with the effect & he had an enraged battle ox out later to hurt me even more.

Drak 3000 < Steven 5900

Ox hit me direct

Drak 1300 < Steven 5900

I lost another 300 lp & then he brought back his SPoN which he killed with his own exiled in order to pull the effect. I couldn’t get out of it & lost.

Duel 3: Steven, yet again, opened with Graceful Charity. I felt sick. I chose to keep the M.A.S.K. deck in hopes of killing him quickly. He did some setting and I specialed CyDra and sacked for Mobius. He chained Ring.

Drak 5600 = Steven 5600

He used his set hand to get out SPoN from his deck a turn or 2 later and hit my grizzly.

Drak 4600 < Steven 5600

He later played ceasefire on me to reveal my set treeborn. I lost a G more

Drak 3600 < Steven 5600

He also used Iggy to attack frog in the same turn

Drak 2300 < Steven 5600

I brought back Kermit, sacked for Zaborg. Killed Iggy with the effect & rammed into SPoN. Next turn I sacked for mobius & the next I normaled breaker. LOTS of m/t destruction, but no LP damage to speak of yet save 100 from breaker hitting an Iggy. He prematured SPoN. I let him. He tried to use Ring to kill it for game, but I chained my set MST tokill the premature on SPoN. That play saved me and my monstered ***** him next turn as he had an open field.

Drak 2300 > Steven 0

1-0

For fun, I dueled Jacob Jacobson (Ranked 116 after 9 rounds) who was running an original deck with Demise, King of Armageddon

Duel 1: Really close duel (we were both tied at 400 lp), but I pull it out in the end with an Abyss soldier bouncing his cards back to his hand so I can attack direct.

Duel 2: I’m too lazy to unside and AOI’s are stopping him form pulling out demise (although he does come close). Nice deck & great guy, but I 2-0 him.

Rd II: Drakar vs Tim Kyle (Ranked 110th after 9 rounds) TBL 6

Duel 1: Yay! I got to open with graceful charity! (my favorite card) I summoned Twin-Headed & set goat. His breaker broke goat & attacked twin for 100 lp. He later controllered a goat of mine into attack and hit it with sangan

Drak 6900 < Tim 8000

I know I lost all my goats and later paid for confi, but my Cyber Dragon hit his sangan

Drak 5900 < Tim 6900

Next turn he set something and I specialed fenrir & started munching on him with my loco lobo

Drak 5900 > Tim 3400 => 0

Duel 2: I sided into M.A.S.K. & he opened with a heavy, limiter, and cyber dragon direct. He saw me smokescreen and he assumed I screened into full stein.

Drak 3800 < Tim 8000

He assumed wrong & it cost him. My Revival Jam hit him direct for 3 turns in a row & Breaker joined him after his first swing to hit him twice for game.

2-0

Before round 3 I wanted some more practice (as I had only playtested 2 people the night before) & so I got some random guy’s attention and dueled him. His name was Eddy Sens and he droped after round 3 being ranked 58th. He ran monarchs with a random stein.

Duel 1: I kept tributing frog for mobius & 3-for-1’ing him (mob hits 2 m/ts & kills a used breaker or cyber dragon)

Duel 2: This was evil. I swapped my ameba for his don after heavying his field and specialing CyDra. Later, I swapped ANOTHER ameba for his DDWL.

Rd III: Drakar vs Harold Houston (ranked 90th after 3rd round)

Duel 1: Bub told me he was tired cuz a teammate stood his team up the night before and they waited at denny’s for him. We both confi’ed each other, but he couldn’t stop my treeborn & he couldn’t discard all my monarchs. Zaborg & Mobius hit him direct once each before he smashed them & revival jam finished him off.

Duel 2: I screened into M.A.S.K. He hit me with a damn Goblin Elite Direct (over extending because he thought I screened into stein). I finally saw his deck as his dark world monsters started pulling off their damn discard effects. I still shut him down. Mobis took down his wu-lords & my prema’ed Jam kept hitting him directly.

3-0

In between the rounds, I played another friend of mine a few times & beat him. He was running a zombie/apprentice deck. Tony told me he was dropping for side events & I wished him luck.

Rd IV: Drakar vs Braulio Mancinas Jr. (ranked 117th after 9 rounds)

Duel 1: By far the nicest guy I met at the tournament & my hardest duel. He started ramming his rat into my abyss, fetched pyramid, rammed it, & fetched ryu kokki. It was hard for me to kill that damn thing too. I fought back by ramming my grizzly into the kokki & then ramming yomi ship. My Special’ed CyDra hit him direct twice in a row & then I specialed fenrir & sacked for Zaborg to end the game.

Duel 2: I screened into M.A.S.K. I had an ugly opening hand so I passed. His DDWL hit me direct

Drak 6500 < Braulio 8000

I specialed CyDra & set grizzly. Cydra hit DDWL & he removed

Drak 6500 < Braulio 7400

I kept pushing to take him out of stein range & CyDra hit him once direct before he was saku’d and grizzly hit him twice direct. I later killed a set pyramid turtle and he brought out kokki. I went to smash it next turn for game but he chained DDV! Let me tell you, I almost crapped my pants! Take a G00D look at my side deck. Almost ALL the monsters are 1500 or below. DDV got my warrior lady, it got an exiled, it got a grizzly, & I just bided my best for time. I had graceful & PoA in my hand too. I ended up having to graceful for some backrow D & drew into goat, ameba, & force. At first he thought I had to discard for DDV and then for graceful… J-U-D-G-E!!! Yea, no. I ended up pulling it out though. DDV finally ended, I drew into grizzly, sacked her next turn for mobius, he chained mst to my ring, I rang his tomato, played last will, got my grizly, & hit him with both for game. AWESOME guy & awesome match.

4-0

I dueled Tony in between matches to help him prep for his side events. He was the first one of the day to stein me, but I ended up winning the next 2 duels so I pulled out the match. Keep in mind, he steined a deck that’s made to counter stein (AOI’s & amebas). I drew nothing to stop stein.

Rd V: Drakar vs Jason Holloway (Ranked 5th after 9 rounds) TBL 2

Duel 1: They called me up for a feature match on this one. It was my first one ever 7 it was fun. Everyone wished me luck (Russel, Tony, Steven Jaster, Braulio, hell, even Daniel Lasher, whom I found out is a decent guy, came over to wish me luck) First duel was horrible. I fought the best I could, but when you’re staring at a and with 2 mobius, 2 AOI, & mind crush & NO water monsters that stay on the field there isn’t much you can do.

Duel 2: This one went a lot better. Jason’s metagame article covers it well.

Duel 3: HE CONFI’ED ME OPENING HAND!!! DAMN IT! He took my swap, left me with ameba, grizzly, exiled, & controller & set treeborn. I HAD to push for fear of stein & I exploded his damn frog. He pulled the same trick on me again sacking frog for CyDra & willing Don to the field so I econ’ed don again. I set grizzly thinking I could maybe pay out of it and get yomi ship when his cyber hit grizzly, but no such luck. He STEINED me. So, I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t. I either overextend to stop stein & pay for it, or I play smart & lose to a damn stein. Go figure. I would like to thank Jason from metagame though as his article was on point. The only thing I wish he would have added was that I said “Yay, now I get to sit back and watch as I get steined.” That’s really how I felt.

4-1

Yea, ok, so I was pretty ticked off & I went on about my business. I caught up with josh Kinkaid (Judgeman) & ew hung out for a bit. I sold a mat & then it was time for round 6.

Rd VI: Drakar vs Trevor Patillo

OOPS! There was an error by the tournament staff & we all got repaired. Trevor & I started playing though & he was like “WTF?!” at revival jam as he couldn’t kill it & I sacked it for mobius the following turn. LOL

Rd VI: Drakar vs Nickalaus Haake (Ranked 56th after 9 rouds) TBL 24

Duel 1: I found out he was running full stein. AOI’s can stop a lot, but not a top decked last will & a sack for 1 of 2 monarchs. He steined me and took away my +4 field advantage (zaborg killed my f/d, attacked my breaker, twin killed my CyDra & Fenrir). I HATE that card.

Duel 2: I screen into M.A.S.K. so fast it’s not even funny! He sides, interestingly enough, out of full on stein and into burn. HEHEHE. I swap ameba to him, take his stealth bird and hear him groan as CyDra hits Ameba. HEHEHE Birdy killed him dead.

Duel 3: I sided in 2 AOI’s with ameba to help keep his stein dead. He still ended up pulling stein off, got gatlig, cleared my 2 monsters with it, equipped it with megamorph twice (iono why) & United We Stand & I had my poker face on as I goaded him to attack. He did… into Book of Moon. I specialed Cyber, sacked for Zaborg, & gamed him next turn.

5-1

By now I’m getting stopped by all kinds of random people asking me about my water deck. I forgot to mention that after I beat Cardona in round 1 I overheard his friends giving him a hard time about “losing to a water deck.” Just because it isn’t a chaos remnant doesn’t mean it’s not playable/competitive. I answered a lot of questions and R/F’d random decks (including a third planet deck which I still see as crazy & weird)

Rd VII: Drakar vs Joseph Hutchinson (Ranked 4th after 9 rounds) TBL 6

“Damn it kid, why do I always have to play you?”

Duel 1: I’ve known Joseph for a while as we played at the same shops in Houston all the time. He opens with a confi and then steins me next turn for game.

Duel 2: I side into ameba hoping to stop stein, yet again. I pull out a mobius and pop him once, but he still top decks stein (he showed me, it was a top) and pays for twin to kill me. I HATE stein! How do you side for 1 card?

5-2

I was ripping mad as I thought he knocked me out of T8. I talk to gary & Simon & they calmed me down a bit & assured me that at least 1, maybe 2 x-2’s would T8, so I stayed to finish out the tournament.

Rd VIII: Drakar vs Orlando Mascorro (Ranked 65th after 7 rounds) TBL 28

Duel 1: I open pretty confidently and gain card advantage as reaper hits him direct twice and abyss soldier hits him direct. The next turn, he steins me. Brings out BEUD & and stein all off of tributing a reaper for a zaborg and playing last will. DAMN CYBER-CHEAP-CARD!!!

Duel 2: M.A.S.K. goes in and ceasefire does as well. I go all super agro and he only hits me for 600 as I crush him before he can get stein out. Ameba swap 2nd turn baby FTMFW!!!

Duel 3: I STAY agro and swap him ameba, reuse amebas with PoA & mystic box another one to him. DIE YOU CYBER STEIN PLAYER!!!!

6-2

I talk to Simon Key, head judge & friend of mine. He says that Holloway & Hutchinson both won their rounds and that if they win again & I win I will T8 for sure.

Rd IX: Drakar vs Todd Solis (Ranked 26th after 9 rounds) TBL 9

Duel 1: I ask him before we begin what his chances of T*’ing are. He says none because his tie breakers suck. I explain the situation, but he still wants to play it out. He is there by himself, no chance of T8’ing, he’d get any prize and then some that he had a shot of winning and this bast3rd still wants to play it out. FINE. Jack-arse. I bring him down to 500 LP quick & he heavy’s, overload fusions into gatling dragon, flips 3 heads, kills all my monsters, limiters and megamorphs and attacks for game. I’m like “WHAT THE FLYING FucI<?!?!?!”

Duel 2: I keep my AOIs and crushed and side in sme ameba support & take him out fighting his damn machines all along and AOI’ing his overload fusions.

Duel 3: I ask him one more time if he wants to keep playing because I now know for sure that Holloway and Hutchinson both won their matches and that if I win I T8. he keeps playing. Really, how egotistical can you be? I dominate him all duel. I control his hand to where there’s only a barrel dragon in it and to where he only has 2 goats on the field to my 4 cards in hand, CyDra, Breaker, and Mobius on the field. HE TOPS OVERLOAD FUSION FOR GAME!!! Chimeratech flicks off my hard-earned advantage and I looked him in the eye, shades off, and told him thank you for costing me top 8.

Disgusted I finish 6-3, 32nd out of 316 people, and a top deck away from T8. And now ladies and gentleman, I am done playing yugioh competitively until 1 of 2 things happens:

1) The great gods of yugioh ban stein. I can side against an all-out stein OTK deck, but I cannot side or main against a random stein without sacrificing my deck’s consistency & bringing it down to tier 2 at best. @ Kevin Touvdell: Keep fighting the good fight as I KNOW you tried to get stein banned & overload down to 1.

2) Konami/UDE/WHOEVER releases a card/cards I deem good enough to counter chimera & stein OTK’s.

Props:
Gary for letting me borrow Abyss Soldiers
Jaster for letting me borrow an Enemy Controller
Tony for Letting me borrow and Enemy Controller
Lawrence for selling me my Revival Jam before the tournament
Gary, Jaster, Simon, Blake, & Mayo for working their asses off, being cool, and being good judges
Chief for 10 years on the force
Russel for earning my respect
Braulio for not dropping so my tie-breakers cold recover from so many of my opponents dropping
Quan, my newbie roommate, for going 5-4 with a solar-flare dragon burn deck
Jason Grabher-Meyer for the awesome article & feature match
Jaster for using his connections
Tony for cheering me up & getting me lunch
Joseph Hutchinson for T8’ing. I don’t care how you got there lil buddy, just wish it didn’t have to be through me.
Daniel Lasher for explaining himself & turning out to be a cool guy
All the random people who noticed me & gave me props
Finishing 32 with 3 losses
Almost T8’ing with a water deck
Tony for coming up with the Ameba Swap Idea
Centric (pojoer) who came up with the M.A.S.K. acronym & piloted it at a regional as seen here
The cool hat I got as seen
My new playmat as seen
Jerome McHale’s “Lost at Sea” deck which was the inspiration behind Drip Drop Control
Beating an all-out stein OTK
Coming back in more duels than I care to remember
My Loco Lobo for munching goats and truly being the chupacabra he can be
Running Abyss Solider and Revival Jam & using them both in the feature match
EMoD for creating the point system (I owed you the prop from the 32-holo for ninja trade)
Decking Cards from SD1-8. Hehe... Such a diverse line-up of cards.
Everyone who signed my playmat this weekend.
My GF who was hella understanding about me going to the tournament eventhough she had a 4-day weekend.

Slops:
Losing my first feature match to a random stein
Getting randomly steined twice in a row by Joseph
Todd Solis for being an arse and costing me my T8. Honestly guy, why would you play?
Losing to top decks even though I had sick advantage
Tony for getting ***** by Dark World
The yugioh Ban list people who voted/overlooked banning cyber-stein. You deserve to be shot.

Fixes for the deck:
In retrospect, I think I cold have dropped 1 AOI and the mind crush to improve consistency. Other than that, maybe add a third ameba into the side *shrugs* I don’t know, but I really liked both decks & they combo’ed well with each other.

I’m assuming this is Jason from metagame. Thanks again for the article and the opportunity. I’d like to hear via PM or on this thread, what you thought about the deck and the match now that you know the other half of the story.

Hey man, nice try. That was a great idea for trying to counter Stein; but IMO it relied too much on traps to stop Stein. That's why I think my deck was so successful. Smoke Grenades go off so fast that I can stop them from getting the Stein combos they need. I also shuffled like a madman and drew pretty well. Thing is, on Day 1 I only made like 2 misplays all day. Then in the top 8 I go and make 3 misplays. I have no idea what happened. Too bad we never got to talk to each other and see which deck would've came out on top during the Jump or Sunday. I guess you were just too sick of the Stein losses; I understand man. Once Stein is banned; I hope they put Ring back on the ban list too (it's just too good).

good job getting as far as you did...... but, dont freak out because that dude didn't scoop to you. Don't u actually want to earn a top8 and not get in because of a scoop? i would definitly want to earn it, so dont get all mad about it.

I don't mean to be negative, but you wouldn't have top8ed either way. Just looking at your tiebreaker points in the standings, a win would have placed you somewhere around 12/13th place. Nonetheless, great job going that far with such an original yet great deck.

He's not a ***** because he wanted to play it out. He wanted to getthe best record he could get, just like everyone else there did. He dropped the same amount of moneyto get into the tournament and had every right to play the match out as anyone else did. The guy in the last round didn't cost you top 8, the random Stiens cost you top 8 as well s the topdecked overloads.

Good job though. I like the deck. Interesting concept that now has a chance of becoming successful. Best of luck to you in the future.

Good tourny report.

You just cost me 35 of my work minutes.

Edit:

BTW, bad ass deck. In retrospect, I shoulda kept the amoeba deck I had originally created. Not because it was good, but because I knew it well and could have played it better than the last minute deck I made.

Nevertheless, good effing job.

Nice report, sux you didn't do better though.

Even if you had won the last round you still wouldn't have toped 8. Russell's Tiebreakers were Halloway and Spicer and he got 12th.

nice fvking deck man

ur one of the few reasons i still play, i like underrated shizzle doing well.... anything out of the usual, whether lose or win to it ... is a hero of mine!

*how ghey did that sound ;\*

btw, a scoop can go a long way, anyone member lux from the orlando jump? yah, one scoop and he makes t8 and wins it all out of nowhere? kthx

people can't be so greedy, if ur a good nuff player who doesnt need to fight for points, or needs to PROVE they are good, just scoop

a x-2 isnt that greata anyway if ur trying to show how good u r , and u been x-2 for a while ... unless u lose a bubble or late round

in addition, how much do u make mats for? just curious

;p

and would u buy an unused top 8 one? lol or my cash + unused mat for it?

ud have to let me know soon on the mat, cus i may have no choice to use it cus one of our members said our black team mats shouldnt be used ;D

ive played both mask and drip drop for a couple days now. having done that my only question is, in my opinion mask is a much better deck than the drip drop control deck. why didnt you play the mask deck and side into something else. or am i just stupid and the mask deck isnt as good as ddc?

Almost got there . Props for using a water deck. I've always wanted to use a water deck similar to this (in the way of abusing Aoi/Mind Crush), and I guess with chaos gone it has become a more viable deck-type. Again, props for getting so far with such an original deck, wished you coulda made T8.

@ matt: Yea, too bad we didn't get together & play a bit. YVD sometime? & the traps were slower than your equips, I just liked them for options. IE. if I need another water monster for fenrir, use AOI, if they're exiled is gonn pop me, use AOI, or if they're gonna NoC my treeborn or BTH my mobius, use AOI.

On the scooping issue: Ok, after cooling down over it, I still say that the guy should have thought about it, I know I would, Then again, this is the kind of person I am: if there's even the remotest of chance for you and none for me, throw me a gryphon wing & you got it buddy. Sides, dueling for 8 rounds & coming back from soooo many steins I was pretty frustrated anyways & wanted some return.

On T8: I looked at tie breakers, but I was going off of what simon said. It simon says then simon says & that final.

@ Tony: What was it Blair used to say? "Dance with the one who brought you"

@ Duy: You know, I wanted to meet you. Tony says you're pretty cool. *shrugs* Next regs or something maybe?

@ Brad: If HINO says yugimonz is all luck then he must be right. Thanks for makin me laugh guy

@ Josh: I always remember your last name by thinking Kickaider (sp?) & so I said Kinkaid instead of Kaid. LOL. Sorry bout that. I thought about the fix you suggested, but it disrupts treeborn too much & adds another trap to the deck. Nevertheless, I'll try it out.

@ NecroFearME: Thanks. Corny as i may sound, it's nice that people care about decks that aren't complete monarch/machine. &, as for the mat thing, I'd def do you one & charge based on what yo wanted for it. PM me.

@ Arthur: Actually, I was trying a few innovations. I didn't want my opponent to see ameba at first, I liked it better as a surprise factor. Furthermore, against stein, ameba works better (which is why I kept it in so much), but against monarch or any other deck, Drip Drop Control was/is more consistent. (At least that's what I found in my playtesting) The way I looked at it: what are you going to side for ameba? Maybe more searchers or something *shrugs* But, against Drip Drop, you'd side decree, banisher, maybe some dark world. I want you to be stuck with those sides in duel 2.

@ Russel: Hey, don't feel bad. I had nothing against you before at all, just my respect needs to be earned & I hadn't seen enough of you for you to earn it yet. Take it as a compliment.

Thanks for the feedback & congrats from everyone. (I'm surprised this report hasn't gotten high-jacked or turned into a flame war like my last ones) I may just yet go to a reg or 2, just gotta deal with luck a bit more & treat yugimonz like poker (I had been treating it like chess). *shrugs* If ya'll have anymore questions/comments feel free to post/PM/call/punch a baby/whatever.

Sorry to rain on your parade but even if you would have won your last match you would have only gotten at the best 14th place. Your tiebreakers were not very good but it is good to see you did well with a water deck.

Anyways, GJ on 32nd place. Yeah, those random Steins really suck, eh?

As for getting mad at the guy you faced in Round 9, I don't really think that was fair of you. I do this all the time at my local tournaments. I'll go all the way to Top 8 and then drop out because I have to work. Some people just like to PLAY and don't care about Top 8's or prizes, or what not.

Anyways, congrats again.

1 Goat – 1 Yomi
nothing - Drak
well, I netdeck it.I want to prove at local here that water is competive.I'm not that succesful making water deck, but can you think replacement for Abyss Soldier?

There are some others easy replacements....good deck, 9/10.I think this is more stable than best of my fire decks.

I'm only a bit sad about no field spell like Umiiruka. But I understand that was obselete due treeborn frog..........

I see your reasoning behind revival Jam, its like comparing Econ to book of moon/rush recklessly like comparing jam to fox fire/darkfire Dragon.

Edit:hey! why smashings over Creature swaps in maindeck?

EDIT: no hydrogeddon?
