Default Opponents purposely damaging your cards - Aftermath

Rewind like back in 2003-2004, where I was playing Yugioh tournament at a locals. Typical Chaos/Yata lock down, but had a single random Exodia leg in my side deck for confusing the gullible and naive players. I ran into a 36-38 year old guy that had virtually the same deck (no surprise back then) and he sees the Exodia piece on top of my stack of cards. I'm going to assume he sided ahead and was prepared for an Exodia match up, because he had this smug smile while we drew our opening hands. So I drew a god-like Yata/Dragon lockdown hand and ended the game turn one. Even after playing Forceful Sentry on me.

So next game, being extremely salty, he started to physically point and dig his fingernail into my cards whenever he played MST or Exile. I called the judge running it and he got a warning or something cause he must have been a huge regular at that store. I got pissed cause nothing was done about it and I had huge dings on the back of sleeves too (not to mention a huge ding on my Black Luster). The game dragged out a bit in my favor and then he calls the judge on me for stalling for time. I spent maybe 10-15 seconds shuffling after a Mystic Tomato? I didn't think that was to long. Then he top decks a Snatch Steal and literally grabs and bends my Jinzo in half. I remember his fat face chuckled and said:

"Oops, my bad."

Mind you, I'm 6'1 210+ lbs and he was easily 5'7 300+ lbs. I didn't know where he got off what he did, but whatever it was, it literally caused me snap. So I reached right across the table and gave him a punch in forehead (I think he tried to duck the punch since I was aiming for his nose). This caused him to snap all the way back of his chair, his legs trying to find some sort of leverage and caused him to fall backwards, along with the table we were at. So everyone was around us, there was some mother there trying to keep the peace, the shop owner runs where we were at, I get permanently banned from the store and the fat meathead wouldn't pay or replace the card. I can still hear his petty cries of, "I'm gonna sue you! I'm gonna blah blah blah sue you!" while I get escorted out of the comic shop.

I drove off embarrassed as hell explaining to my friend I got into a fight with a middle-aged man in Yugioh of all things. So you can imagine, that was the last time I ever played Yugioh competitively, let alone play it, until a few weeks ago.

So what about you guys? Ever had anyone who viciously and purposely damaged your cards mid-game? Either out of poor sportsmanship or just being salty? Just how would you handle this situation if this was you getting your cards destroyed?

I'm more curious if this ever occurs in a regional. What would happen to the players there if something like this happened (damaging other players cards).

This has never happened to me, and I've never seen it happen, but good job on punching him in the face. I'm not generally an advocate of violence, but some people do, in fact, deserve it.

He got off pretty easy if you ask me. If i was gonna do something to get myself banned from a store, it's gonna be for a damn good reason. I woulda neutered him. GG lol.

I'm not an advocate of violence either, and although I don't place that much value in this game, I think you let him off a little easy lol. I probably would've bit him too. I might taste his disgusting skin, but it would be the sweet taste of victory >_>.

On second thought, I don't think I would've bit him, just.... done more than just a punch to the face.

The judge let him off way too easily, too. JUST a warning?

Nobody has done this to me, but if they did, I would destroy their cards as well.

At Nationals 2 years ago during DSF/Synchro Cat format, I played Skill Drain again. My round (3?) opponent was playing Synchro Cat, he played Cold Wave, I chained Skill Drain, and he was forced to set a monster and pass. a turn later after Cold Wave was over, I played Heavy Storm, Grephered Malicious and Plague, made Dark End Dragon (I was one of VERY few people to have it at the time) popped his monster and swung for game. He picked up my DED to read it, said "Wow how unrealistic" and threw it back at me, missing me and my field entirely and landing on the floor behind me where spectators were. Everyone gasped and I almost fought that piece of ****. Luckily it wasnt damaged, but that wasnt the point.

damn Jeff... i would have killed him.... damaged or not lol. just the fact that the card was valued in the thousands, not hundreds warranted it.

EDIT - i think at it's peak it was 1000 - 1200.... but you get the point.

I had a guy violently toss my Black Garden after checking my effect (Playing at college campus). I scooped and said I'd never play with him again because he's a ******* idiot.

As the head of the card club at my school, everyone stopped playing YGO with him, causing him to quit. Now-a-days he plays Magic.

Wow. Just wow.

That the fatso would be pissed like that was understandable, but the judge just gave him a WARNING? God - if I were the judge, I'd have punched him and then some.

I may be out of line and stating the obvious here, but that happened 7-8 years ago...it's not like it happened recently...

umm.. a crease does greatly decrease the value... full value is only for mint/near mint cards. if i am paying/trading full value, the cards im getting better be mint/near mint

That doesn’t give him the right to treat them like ****, though…

And this happened to me once, when this little kid I was paired with asked to look at my Book of Moon (CP, mind you) and then BIT IT. What.
