Fun Times at GMI Games

Hi to Everyone who reads this. The day before hand I call the store to check as to whether the store got their duel terminals in and THEY DID >.<. Before heading out to the store, I cash in my bag jar of coins which yielded $50. I arrive at the store to find that no one is there and im all alone to play the terminals muahahaha lol. I decide to only spend $10 and end up getting a X Saber Wayne, a mist wurm, a blue eyes white dragon, dark magician, winged kuriboh, and Goyo guardian. I am actually pretty happy with my pulls and decided to play a couple of turbo duels and mini games withthe pinball and stuff and may I say that the duel terminals are FUN!!!!. By the time I was done, Nick and Kevin had already arrived and were trying out the second one while I was finishing up my session. I had just finished building my new stardust assault mode deck and needed an armor master, luckily Nick had one and thought that X saber Wayne was worth about $25 and decided to trade his armor master for my Wayne and Crusader of endymion. I decide to playtest Kevin to see how my deck runs and it ran quite nicely may I say. Soon we get like 40 people in the store because of the duel terminals and everyone is going crazy to try it out. I run into George and Orlando and see that they arent going to waste any money on the terminals. After repeated warnings about keeping it down when pairings are announced, round 1 was annouced.

Round 1: Me(Flaming Assault)VS Neos spacian Chaos?!
Game 1 : Urrgh I open with no tuners and no tomatoes and just one asault mode activate wont help.
Game 2: Again I opened with double stardust assault mode and the guy trap dustshoots my summoner monk. That was my only playable monster and he freakin heavies my backrow for game.

Oh my god I have never had such bad opening hands when I playtested the deck!!!!! I decide to cool it down and go grab food before the next round. While walking back, I run into Nick and he wants to do a trade back and I said no because both me and him didnt know what the value of the Wayne was. Soon Round 2 is announced.

Round 2: Me(Flaming Assault) VS Gravekeepers
Game 1: Urrgh does Necrovalley screw you over big time. Luckily I managed to stall with Armor Master until I got Stardust Assault mode out to get control.
Game 2: The guy freakin sets a monster and 3 spells and traps and one necrovalley and freakin plays a spell that reveals both players hands and forces both to discard all of our monsters. With that I discard all 5 cards and drew into a mst which doesnt help.
Game 3: I luckily Opened with heavy stormed and when the guy played that spellcard that discards all monsters, I was able to use heavy to get rid of Necrovalley so I could use rekindling for swarm of Stardust dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend to win.

Oh boy was the guy mad that he lost. But man necovalley is a PAIN IN THE BUTT!!!!! sheesh I think i'll side necrovalley now lol. I am finishing eating when I Nick asks for some food since he wasted his $20 on the termanil and since I basically ripped him off on the trade unintentionally, I gave him a few pieces of teriyaki chicken. I go and find that george is 0-2 and decides to drop. Orlando is 2-0 and I find that kevin is 1-1. I watch a duel on the termanil and afterwards hear someone scream after they pulled a brionac and goyo and see that it is my friend Josh who runs a spellcaster deck like me and am happy since he needs to complete his syncrho deck becuase he just got into the game 2 months ago. Afterwards there was like a mad rush of people trying to pull as many cards from the machine. I was laughing at how some were wasting money since some were putting in like $20 at a time lol. Soon Round 3 is annouced.

Round 3: Me(Flaming Assault) VS Monarchs
Game one: This one was close and Me tributing my Stardust am to negate his rota was a misplay since he summoned spellstriker and summoned caius for game
Game 2: I went crazy with my synchro summons and ended up having two stardusts one red dragon archfiend and one Blackwing armor master by turn 3
Game 3: I opened with a great hand and was able to bring out my Stardust am and a regular stardust and that basiscally locked the field for my opponent and I won

I really like this stardust assault mode deck and think that it runs extremely well. I go and find that Josh and Orlando have lost their matches. I go outside where I sell my white night dragon for $15 and trade for a holo mind control. I go inside to find that Kevin is pissing off Josh that his spellcasters are crap since mine have trouble against Kevin's deck. Round 4 is annoucned and I am paired off with kevin and Josh tells me to kick Kevin's butt.

Round 4:
Game 1: I manage to clear his field with torrential while filing my graveyard with flamvell monsters, I drew into a coldwave and played rekindling to swarm the field with synchro monsters for game.
Game 2: I summons stardust turn 1 and bring out stardust am turn 2. This proceeds to screw kevin over since he has two monarchs in his hand and cant use them without my stardust am negating them. Eventually my stardust am wears him down and I win.

Kevin is pissed off with how his deck is performing and wonders whether he should quit. I told him to take a break from yugioh for a week and sit back and think on how to improve his deck. Personally I think that Kevin has maxed it out as much as possible but who knows. Soon round 5 is annouced.

Round 5:Me(Flaming Assault) VS Lightsworns.
Game one: The guy mills two gardnas and a plague spreader turn three and I cannot get past them and he drops jd for game.
Game 2: He opened with a crap hand and I managed to stall with armor master to deck him out.
Game 3: I summon stardust assault mode turn 2 and lock his lightsworns with light imprisoning mirror. The guy scoops and I take the win.

Turbo 2 packs are given out today and I pull junk from it. I go and see what orlando, Kevin and Josh pull. Kevin gets crap, Orlando pulls a holo beckoning light, and JOSH PULLS A ULTRA RARE CHAOS SORCERER . I quickly tell him to hold one to it and keep quiet or else he will get mobbed by everyone who wants it. I made it to top 4 and get $5 store credit. I decide to look for more trades but all the people who are left are the norco ones and Orlando and Josh and his girlfriend. Im about to head out when I noticed that Josh is having trouble starting his truck and it looks like the battery is dead. since it was a stickshift, Orlando suggested something where we pushed the car around till it got enough movement to jump to battery? So me and orlando was pushing while josh steers and me and orlando could only get the car to go so fast while josh's girlfriend is joking around yelling at us to get the lead out.So basically imagine two guys pushing a truck around the parking lot for 5 minutes. Luckily the car started up and with that I pack it up and head on home.

Woah you travel all the way from diamond bar to GMI? Nice tournament report. Pretty epic ultra chaos sorcerer pull by your friend and I'd say you definitely got your moneys worth from the duel terminal lol. I got a few questions. When are the tournaments held there, how many people usually show up, and what is the entry price? I didn't know they got duel terminals so thats nice to know

I haven't been there in a while as I usually went for warhammer stuff over summer before I even picked up yugioh again. I'm thinking about checking it out sometime, yugioh wise.

Me and my family used to live in diamond bar until last summer where we moved to chino hills, just never changed it till now. The distance to gmi from where I live in Chino hills is 14.5 miles which is the same as a drive to my college. Yeah its nice to see good people get what they need. Yeah I was pretty lucky with the termanils. The tournaments are held every thursday at 6pm and the entry fee is $6. Turbo packs are given out every other week. The place is big on warhammer though and doesnt supply alot of yugioh products but hey we at least got duel termanils >.<

Thursdays at 6 is pretty nice, the shop I've been going to lately used to have tournaments at that time but then they changed it to sundays only and it gets so crowded now. Do you get one pack for entering regardless in addition to the turbo packs? Where I go we get a free pack of our choice but no turbo packs.

I'll probably end up going there this week to check it out. I haven't played warhammer in quite a while either so it'll be good for me to catch up =p.

I don't go to GMI cuz its at a horrible time for me. I have class till 5pm, so id have to rush to eat and then drive there, so i dont bother

Dragune youre probably talking about the affordable sports cards in norco right? yeah i went there once for the sunday tournaments and its pretty nice and they got a big selection of yugioh stuff to choose from.Since the thursday tournaments are canceled in norco, alot of the players from there have come over here as well so you will probably see alot of familiar faces. Only thing different about gmi is that when pairings are annouced, everyone needs to keep it down, and trading, showing cards, and selling cards have to be done outside the store(its not as a big deal as it sounds) because of past problems of thieves and the storeowners do not want to be held liable. for the tournaments, if turbo packs are being given out, you just get one for your entry fee and if you win you get $15 store credit. When there are no turbo packs, usually they throw a box of two boosters in a big box and have people draw their entry pack from it.

@idealdragoon: lol sucks, thats why I make sure to pick my classes to be on mondays tuesdays and wednsdays so that doesnt happen.

Yep thats where I was talking about. I had no friday classes last semester and I used to go there after school on thursdays lol. Tournaments used to be held on thursdays and sundays but they changed it to sundays only this year and they changed the time from 4-6. I'm usually busy on sundays so thats been a problem, I only go there about once every other week now and it fills up so fast that sometimes there isn't room to sign up.

lol hopefully you'll get a better schedule for spring and summer. What college do you go to? I go to calstate pomona. Yeah the place gets pretty crowded, its a small store and it doesnt have a back gaming room and there are only about 40 seats available and once that fills up, they have to turn away participants. I would go to the tourneys there but I got work on the weekends and was there on my day off. GMI is more convenient.

@Dragune: is there any reason as to why they changed the tourneys from thursdays to sundays? I like GMI Better because of the competition, I feel that Affordable sports cards has alot of generic players that have only lightsworns, blackwings, and zombies. The competition level at gmi may be a bit lower than sports cards but the reason for that is because there is more diversity in decks there, we got diva zombies, lightsworns, vayu sworns, twilight, blackwings, spellcasters, dragons(im the only one who runs dragons there lol), Quickdraw turbo, morphontronics, big and little city decks, chaos decks, monarchs, anti meta decks, dark decks and elemental hero decks(the ones where absolue zero are the big focus).

I think business has been pretty slow for them so they had to cut it down to one day. I think the deck diversity there is pretty good I usually see a new face every week too which is nice, although last month I always went up against a zombie mirror match with the same guy lol. Don't worry about being the only guy who runs dragons because I'm working on a disaster dragon deck and its almost ready just gotta wait for the redmd reprint because I dont want to spend 20 each on them lol. What type of dragon deck are you running?

eh sucks. your also working on disaster dragons? have you taken a look at richard clarke's recipes and report? what is your decklist for the dragons? eh im kinda mad because of the reprint of redmd but I bought them last summer when they were still $20

Yeah my decklist will be mostly similar to his but I plan on using white night dragon and I think dragon ice has potential so I want to proxy him a bit. I don't really have a complete decklist right now I'm working on one but I still need like 10 more cards for the deck, mainly sarcs and redmd. Just got my genesis dragon today so thats good news I guess lol.

well with the redmd you should be getting them cheap in another 2 months, gold sarcs are gonna probably go up to 3 with the next banlist. I use white night dragon but I side Yamata Dragon. You should try yamata dragon because it surprisingly works reall well and it refills your hand. I just got back from the absolute powerforce sneakpeak and I got a harmony's treasure and drill warrior which is pretty good.

I do have a yamata dragon, he may be ugly as sin but he actually let me draw 5 cards yesterday lol that was awesome. I'm gonna sidedeck him and ladd for sure or main one of the two. Nice pulls harmony's treasure sounds so much better than the new name it got. I don't think I'm going to this sneak, don't really have the money to spend right now.

yeah resonance cards or card resonance sounds terrible compared to harmony's treasure, I am trying to work it in my blue eyes version of my disaster dragon deck but I still need one more.

Yeah its a good card for that build. I don't plan on using it till dragunitys but I should probably pick some up now to be safe. Do you plan on going this thursday? I'll probably go and use my zombie deck.

Yeah im going this thursday and luckily by then the store will have another shipment of cards for the duel termanil, they ran out last thursday night lol
