Default Yugioh: The Renegade Saga Turn 01: Past Memories

These chapters will be more or less seven pages long, because that's the length that I feel confortable at. Also, this will have an OP and an EP.

OP: Escape the Nest / Editors

Yugioh: The Renegade Chronicles
Turn 01: Past Memories

“Ah, Neo Domino City,” the twenty-nine year old Hawk smiled, raising his visor from his helmet, revealing his face. “It’s been ten years too long.”

TEN YEARS EARLIER:

“I hope you’re ready to lose, Rookie,” Jack Atlas climbed onto his white duel runner, and the female voice spoke.

“Duel Mode engaged. Autopilot engaged,” Hawk smiled, adding five cards to his hand as his green duel runner sped into action, as both duelists sped around the underground arena.

(Hawk: 4000 / Jack: 4000)

“Time I kicked things off, Jack,” Hawk added a card to his hand and smiled. “Things have just got interesting.”

(10 Minutes later)

(Hawk: 2100 / Jack: 2900)

“What’s wrong Jack? Am I too fast for you?” Hawk asked, looking behind him as Jack’s duel runner began to slow down. Suddenly, lights flashed on around the arena, and an electric shockwave hit Hawk’s runner, causing it to slow down to a steady halt. “ARGH!” Hawk yelled in pain, as doors burst open and cops rushed in.

Jack Atlas was nowhere in sight. “YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR PARTICIPATING IN AN ILLEGAL UNDERGROUND DUEL!”

Hawk looked up, as several cops burst into the arena, pointing their guns at the turbo duelist.

“So you want to take me to the facility, huh, coppers?” Hawk asked, as lights flickered off around the arena.

Hawk could hear muffled voices of, “Ow, my foot, captain!” and “What the bloody hell is going on?”

When the lights flickered back on, Hawk was nowhere in sight.

END FLASHBACK

“I never thought you’d come back, rookie,” a man spoke, kicking his duel runner into action, coming up alongside the shocked Hawk. “But I guess it’s your death sentence.”

“I don’t think so,” Hawk replied. “I’m not going down without a fight, Cross.”

“Glad you remember me,” Cross chuckled, as his blue duel runner’s screen lit up. “Field Spell, Speed World!”

“Duel mode engaged. Autopilot activated,” the female voice blared out, as both turbo duelists added five cards to their hands, both runners swerving to avoid the oncoming traffic as they sped down the hill towards town, the blue field spell that was speed world enveloping both runners.

“Allow me to start things off,” Cross added a card to his hand and smiled as both speed counters went up.

(Hawk: 4000 (1 Speed Counter) /Cross: 4000 (1 Speed Counter)

“I’m going to start with a monster facedown and two cards facedown, and then it’ll be your move, rookie,” Cross finished, slotting three cards into his duel disk.

(Hawk: 4000 (2 Speed Counters) /Cross: 4000 (2 Speed Counters)

“It’s my turn now,” Hawk declared, adding a card to his hand. “Since I have no monsters on my field and you have one, I can special summon one of my favourites! Let’s get this duel started with my Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn (2000/900), come on out, buddy!”

Cross chuckled, watching the bird appear onto the field, flying to keep up with Hawk’s duel runner.

“What’s so funny, Cross?” Hawk asked, revealing another card in his hand. “Seeing as I’m just about to special summon my Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind (1300/400) from my hand!”

“Of course, your bird-brain’s effect,” Cross continued to laugh, as his duel runner dodged a rather fast brown pick-up.

“Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind is a level three dark tuner monster that can be special summoned from the hand if there is at least one face-up Blackwing monster on the field other than a monster with the same name.”

“Oh yeah,” Hawk punched the air, as his duel runner swerved to avoid the same pick-up. “Now, it’s time for my Sirocco to have the first attack! Go, target that facedown card!”

“I don’t think so,” Cross declared, revealing a facedown card. “Didn’t think it would be that easy for you, rookie. Allow me to demonstrate my trap card – Widespread Ruin, activate!”

“Oh no!” Hawk looked stunned as Sirocco halted, before seemingly self-destructing.

“Widespread Ruin is a normal trap card that can only be activated when your opponent attacks. The monster with the highest attack points is destroyed.”

“Ah well, at least I’ve got my Gale. Gale the Whirlwind, show Cross who’s the boss!” yelled Hawk, as his monster shot forward.

“Two times unlucky,” Cross smiled. “Destiny Hero – Defender (100/2700), take down that bird!”

Hawk grimaced as his life points dropped, and Gale the Whirlwind pulled off from the failed attack.

(Hawk: 2600 (1 Speed Counter) /Cross: 4000 (2 Speed Counters)

“I guess you win this round,” Hawk sighed, setting one card facedown and ending his turn.

“My draw!” Cross yelled, ripping a card out of his duel disk and adding it to his hand, avoiding a van, Hawk keeping close behind as the turbo duelists sped down the hill, turning left and right at sharp corners, causing the oncoming traffic to beep their horns at them.

(Hawk: 2600 (2 Speed Counters) /Cross: 4000 (3 Speed Counters)

“After I’m done with you Hawk, you’re gonna wish you never came back,” Cross smiled. “Moai Interceptor Cannon (1100/2000), show this criminal what you’re made of!”

“Moai Interceptor Cannon has a special ability allowing the controller to flip it into defence position once during the main phase,” explained the female voice, as Cross activated the effect and the row of ancient cannons vanished, revealing a hologram of a facedown monster.

“Now it’s your turn. Hurry up, because I’m not waiting around all day,” Cross finished, as another hologram appeared on the field.

“Come on, be a good one!” Hawk prayed, launching his hand into his duel disk and ripping out a card. “And before I forget, your defender allows me to draw an additional card each turn!”

Cross frowned, as Hawk added another card to his hand.

(Hawk: 2600 (3 Speed Counters) /Cross: 4000 (4 Speed Counters)

“I play my Speed Spell – Angel Baton!” Hawk yelled. “This lets me draw two cards if I have more than two speed counters! However, I have to discard a card from my hand!”

“Don’t have the cards you want, Rookie?” Cross asked, mockingly.

“Yes I do,” Hawk smiled. “You see Cross; I don’t know why you’re calling me a rookie because up until I faced Atlas, I was top of the underground league!”

“That’s illegal, so it doesn’t count,” Cross replied, taking his duel runner around another corner. “And that’s also why I’m chasing you today!”

“Now I special summon Blackwing – Bora the Spear (1700/800)!” Hawk roared, as the feathered beast roared onto the field, pointing its spear at Cross’ Destiny Hero – Defender and the facedown Moai Interceptor Cannon.

“Blackwing – Bora the Spear is a Level four DARK attribute winged beast, which can be special summoned from the hand if the controlling player has one face-up Blackwing monster other than itself,” the female voice explained. “If Blackwing – Bora the Spear beats a monster in defence mode in battle, the other player looses life points as if Blackwing – Bora the Spear was in attack mode.”

“What a waste of a summon,” Cross chuckled. “You see rookie, I don’t know whether you were asleep during Maths class or you never went to school at all, but My Defender and my Cannon both have more defence points than your weakling.”

“Not on their own,” admitted Hawk. “But Birds of a feather like to flock together, so I guess it’s what they do best! Now, Are you ready for A Synchro summon, Cross?”

“A Synchro summon?” Cross looked shocked, slowing his duel runner down a bit, as Hawk sped past.

“Oh yeah! Allow me to introduce this bad boy!” Hawk punched the air with one hand. “C’mon out, Blackwing – Armor Master (2500/1500), let’s win this duel!”

A monster shot out from Hawk’s extra deck in a beam of light, before appearing on the field, flying behind Hawk next to Cross, flapping it’s wings.

Cross looked unimpressed, “Ha,” he scoffed. “Do you think that bird brain is really going to stop my Destiny Hero Defender?”

“Watch and Learn Cross, Watch and Learn!” Hawk smiled. “Blackwing – Armor Master, attack your Destiny Hero – Defender!”

“You defiantly went to sleep during Maths class,” Cross chuckled. “I’m beginning to think that you’re even more of a bird brain than your monsters. Because if you haven’t noticed, my Defender still has more defence points than your Armor Master!”

“Never,” Hawk spat, “Insult my monsters!”

“Well it appears I just did,” Cross smiled. “Because at this rate, you’re defiantly going to security!”

Hawk frowned, “I’m not going to security, Cross, and you can count on that!”

Cross chuckled, as Blackwing Armor Master peeled off from Destiny Hero Defender, leaving a sharp point in the strong warrior. “What gives?” he looked shocked. “Why aren’t you taking damage?”

“My Armor Master doesn’t take any battle damage,” Hawk smiled for the first time this duel, “And I think I’ll call it a day there.”

“What was the point in attacking me then, Hawk?” Cross asked, adding a card to his hand, swerving to avoid two cars as the speed counters went up.

(Hawk: 2600 (4 Speed Counters) /Cross: 4000 (5 Speed Counters)

“I play the Speed Spell – High Speed Crash!” Cross yelled.

“Speed Spell – High Speed Crash is a speed spell that can only be activated if the controlling player has at least two or more speed counters. The Controlling player must destroy one card on their side of the field and one card on their opponent’s side of the field,” the voice rang out.

“Which one shall I choose?” Cross asked himself. “I know... my facedown monster and your Blackwing Armor Master!”

“NO!” Hawk yelled, as both monster disintegrated, leaving Hawk’s field empty apart from a single facedown.

“Now, I tribute my Destiny Hero Defender for something with a bit more of a kick!” Cross continued, “Hawk, meet my Prime Material Dragon (2400/2000)!”

“Oh no!” Hawk looked shocked as the golden dragon roared onto the field, ready to attack Hawk directly.

“Now, Prime Material Dragon, attack Hawk directly, Golden Slash!” Cross commanded, as the dragon leapt forward, extending its tail about to rip and tear.

“I don’t think so Cross, because I play the trap card Fake Feather!” Hawk interrupted, causing Prime Material Dragon to stop in its tracks.

“Fake Feather is a trap card that forces the owner to discard one Blackwing monster from their hand so they can select a normal trap card in their opponent’s graveyard. Fake Feather then gains that card’s effect.”

“So guess which card I’m choosing, Cross!” Hawk pointed to Cross’ graveyard, and a single card shot out.

“Not fair!” Cross protested.

“Widespread Ruin, activate and destroy Prime Material Dragon!” Hawk yelled triumphantly, as Prime Material Dragon self destructed, obliterating itself completely.

“You’ll pay for that, scum,” Cross spat, avoiding a shocked cyclist.

“My Turn now!” Hawk yelled, but just as he was about to reach a hand into his duel disk, he could hear an all too familiar sound echoing in his ears.

The cops were back.

“Duel Abandoned,” the female voice somehow sensed the danger, and the field vanished, both duelists regaining control of their duel runners. “Autopilot deactivated. Duel Mode disengaged.”

Hawk glanced behind him to see Cross disappearing off a side street, with a couple of sector security cars following him, and then two bikes pulled up alongside him.

“Pull over your runner,” an officer shouted through a microphone. “Do It now.”

“Not on my watch,” Hawk yelled, suddenly braking as the two bikes sped past. However, there was a van behind him.

“You’re not going anywhere, law breaker,” the officer who had told Hawk to pull over spoke. “Speed World, activate!”

“Here we go again,” sighed Hawk, as the all-too familiar Speed World shot out, covering the van and the runner.

“Duel Mode Engaged, Autopilot activated,” the female voice spoke, as the cop and Hawk’s life points both rose to four thousand.

The cop smiled as he added a card to his hand.

(Hawk: 4000 (1 Speed Counter) / Cop: 4000 (1 Speed Counter))

“One monster facedown and three cards facedown,” the cop yelled, slotting four of his six cards from his hand in his duel disk, as Hawk swerved to avoid an oncoming motorist. “Your move, criminal.”

(Hawk: 4000 (2 Speed Counters) / Cop: 4000 (2 Speed Counters))

“My name is not Criminal,” Hawk added a card to his hand. “It’s Hawk! I’ll start things off with my Speed Spell – Angel Baton! This discards one card from my hand so I can draw two cards!”

“We were watching the whole duel, Hawk,” the cop yelled. “We know your Blackwing deck inside out.”

“So this’ll make it even easier then!” Hawk shouted, revealing a card in his hand. “Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn (2000/900), come on out yet again!”

“That’s the second time you’ve summoned that monster today, Hawk!” the cop revealed a facedown, chuckling. “Bottomless Trap Hole, activate!”

“That’s precisely what I was hoping for,” Hawk smiled. “I play my Speed Spell – Synchro Recycler! This can only be activated if I have two monsters in my graveyard and one of them is a tuner! I can tune them together!”

“No way!” the cop looked shocked.

“So Vayu the Emblem of Honour and Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn, merge to create Blackwing – Armed Wing (2300/1000)!” Hawk yelled, punching the air triumphantly. “You’re easier than Cross! Blackwing – Armed Wing, take down that facedown!”

“No! My Gate Blocker (100/2000)!” the cop roared, shocked as his life points dropped by eight-hundred.

“Why did my life points fall?” the cop asked, as suddenly Hawk noticed a bolt come loose in his runner. They were now in the area of Neo Domino called ‘Satellite’.

Suddenly, the autopilot was deactivated, and Hawk screamed out in pain as he was flung off his duel runner, smashing through a door, and into somebody’s house.

“We’ll get him when he comes out,” the cop frowned, as the Speed World spell card vanished. “He can’t hide in there forever.”

Just as Hawk had landed on a carpet in front of a television, a fourteen year old boy looked shocked. “It’s you!” the boy exclaimed. “Wow, I never thought you’d come back, Hawk!”

It actually is good, but you made one critical error. You do not gain Speed-Counters in the first turn of the duel. I liked the rest of the turn and look forward to the next one. Seems someone still knows Hawk.

Thanks for your feedback, Seb. . Yeah, I thought you gained speed counters when you draw a card and add it to your hand.

i notice something...when the cop played bottomless trap hole...u sent Sirocco to the grave...shouldnt it have been removed instead??

and I think Sirocco is a normal summon, not a special summon??

I'm fine with you running Blackwings, but calling the main character "Hawk" is pushing it

Please can you keep the comments to the latest thread please, rather than bump up old ones even though they are not terribly old.
