Black Rose Chronicles: Chapter 2: Early Graduation
Early Graduation
Anthony got his car keys and went back down into the lobby with Jeffery. He went up to the front desk. “Excuse me, I would like to check out now,” he said acting as cool as possible probably to see if he can get away with something.
“Just let me charge your card for your stay,” said the woman at the front desk holding out her hand expecting something.
Anthony reached into his pocket dramatically and pulled out….......his wallet and from it he removed a credit card and placed it into the woman’s hand. The woman than put it through the scanner. “Um sir, you seem to be thirty dollars short,” she said and Anthony nearly died of embarrassment. Jeffery completely changed his mind about Anthony and now considered him an idiot.
“That can’t be right last I checked I had enough money for my stay,” he said feeling like an idiot. Especially after all the work he put into this.
“I’m sorry sir but, we cannot allow you to leave,” said the woman beginning to press a button on the desk.
“Wait, I’ll pay for both of our stays,” said Jeffery realizing this idiot is really stupid. Jeffery took out his wallet and handed the woman a card.
“Oh thank you so much,” said Anthony happy for the nice save though he felt completely embarrassed at his being poor.
“Oh no don’t thank me just think of it as an I O U,” said Jeffery wanting so much to laugh at Anthony but realized he was completely schooled when it came to Duel Monsters.
“Dang it!” exclaimed Anthony who was hoping Jeffery wouldn’t ask for repayment.
The woman handed Jeffery back his credit card and Anthony back his. They left the Inn through the front door and into the parking lot they went. Anthony’s car turned out to be a large van. After the door was opened there wasn’t a bad smell just an odd one. Jeffery looked inside and saw that there were six seats which wasn’t a good number for a van as large as this. Behind the seats was a table with a chair. There were wrappers all over the floor from various foods Jeffery thought this was disgusting and then noticed that Anthony might have been living in this van.
“Welcome to my humble abode,” said Anthony moving into the drivers seat and putting the key into the keyhole and turning it. The engine shot into life and began to run. Jeffery took the seat he was closest to and they both latched on their seat belts.
Anthony backed out of the parking lot and looked at his fuel gauge and noticed that it was half full and cursed under his breath. “Jeffery just show me the way to your school and if I’m lucky I’ll have somewhere to live,” he said as he began to drive away from the Inn.
Jeffery began telling the directions. Anthony drove quickly while abiding by the law and soon wound up in a small ornate city and found somewhere to park. After getting the few things Jeffery had bought with him to the Inn out of the van they began to trek behind another smaller Inn and up a large hill. After about 10 minutes of hill walking they reached the top and there was a large building. Anthony began walking to it until Jeffery pulled him back by the collar. Anthony took this as a cue to turn around and then he saw a another large building on a different hill adjacent to his location. He followed Jeffery until they reached the door.
“Don’t get to close to the door they might suspect you though you already look so suspect it doesn’t matter,” said Jeffery laughing it off as he picked up the knocker and banged it on the door. Soon someone opened the door and Anthony was led inside with Jeffery and taken into the Headmaster’s office (Yes there was a Headmaster and he was above the Dean in rank but was never available to talk when it didn’t matter.)
“Yes yes, what is it, as you can see I’m very busy,” said the Headmaster who was actually pretty small and stubby. He was reading over papers that seemed to come from a never-ending stack of papers.
“Well, it’s about my friend here, he has nowhere to stay and I was wondering if he can stay here, at Pinot Noir,” said Jeffery uneasy though he had the exterior of a manly man he had the indecisiveness of an overthinker who didn’t ever think it quite through and reflected on that fact but still couldn’t get over it.
“I don’t care as long as he doesn’t bother anyone and has the monetary backing to pay for his food, now get out!” said the Headmaster gesticulating with his hand towards the door. Jeffery grabbed Anthony before Anthony could say any words of thanks and pulled him out of the door.
He dragged Anthony up the stairs with their entire luggage (How he did that without hurting himself was beyond me). The lighting was nearly nonexistent and the few lights were eldritch in nature. The corridor felt a little claustrophobic. Upon reaching a locked door Jeffery reached into his pocket for his key and placed in inside the keyhole and turned. He then turned the doorknob and pushed the door inwards. They walked inside.
“Welcome to my humble abode,” said Jeffery taking his luggage and setting it beside his bed. He turned to Anthony and shooed him out. Anthony was affronted by this but noticed there was only one bed and the floor doesn’t count as a bed.
“Wait, couldn’t I just sleep on the floor?” asked Anthony not wanting to find a chair somewhere to sit in and seem more homeless than he is.
“Fine, but it isn’t nearly dark outside yet and I was giving you leave to explore the school,” replied Jeffery confused as to why this man was bringing up sleep already and how in the world was he supposed to trust this man. Short story short he couldn’t.
Anthony looked through his luggage and pulled out a collapsed duel disk and placed it in his deep jacket pocket along with his deck box. He took his nearly empty wallet full of one dollar bills and placed that in his pants pocket. He finally grabbed his weapon of choice, a small black umbrella with a seemingly sharp tip and what seemed to be short ribbons on the handle. He tied the ribbons together over his belt. He left the room promptly and the umbrella fell limp at his leg. He first decided to look for things necessary to him namely a bathroom. He went down the claustrophobic albeit rather grand hallway that really wasn’t all that tight not at all actually. He passed a room in which he heard something interesting going on.
“Why did you do that?” asked one of the male voices it sounded like a young boy he sounded like he was crying.
“Do what? Oh you mean this…” said the older sounding male voice and Anthony heard the sound of a shredder shredding paper or something with the semblance of paper.
“Stop it!” said the crying young boy’s voice as the crying escalated.
“You lost to me and these were the rules,” said the older male voice and the shredder turned on again. Anthony wanted to barge in there but knew that if he didn’t know more about the situation he couldn’t help.
“No you cheated! You stacked your deck and drew cards when I wasn’t looking!” said the crying young boy’s voice which sounded purely pitiful. Anthony grabbed the door knob and pushed the door open. Upon the door being opened both people inside stared at the person who just walked in. The boy with tears streaming down his face was smiling that a big person was here to help him.
“What do you want?” asked the older boy with a snooty voice as if he was the largest here and somehow knew it.
“Why are you shredding this poor boys stuff?” Anthony asked looking around and as suspected there was a shredder in the middle of the room.
“He lost and the bet was the loser couldn’t use their cards ever again,” said the snooty boy and the other boy went to cry behind Anthony’s leg.
“How exactly did he lose?” Anthony asked wanting to gather more information. The snooty boy with his freckled face must have been around fifteen years old compared to the crying boy who should be around eight years old. The freckled face snooty boy who seemed to be fifteen had rather long hair for a boy and it was blond.
“How do you think, I overpowered his monsters with my mastery of spells, and traps to summon the strongest monsters,” said the snooty boy laughing out loud.
“But you cheated, I even saw your hand and then the next turn you played cards that weren’t there,” said the crying boy trying to explain the situation to me.
“Little boy, come outside with me and bring your Duel Disk,” said Anthony trying his hardest to be middle minded about this.
“Fine, but let me make a wager. If I win you can never use your deck again,” said the boy smirking unable to contain his excitement at another win.
“Fine, I won’t make a wager for you because you’ll understand when it’s said and done,” said Anthony grabbing the little crying boys hand and taking him out into the hallway. “I’ll beat him and then I’ll make sure to replace the cards he destroyed.” Anthony made his way holding the little boys hand who stopped crying now that he had reassurance. They reached the grandiose stairs and began down them and eventually reaching the landing which was polished wood. They continued down admiring the scenery.
He pushed the door open and stepped outside and stood near the wall. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his collapsed Duel Disk from his pocket and latched it onto his arm at which time it expanded fully. He slid his hand back into his pocket and pulled out his black sleeved deck. He slid it into its slot on his duel disk and smirked. Soon the snooty boy came out of the building with a smaller duel disk on his arm with an unsleeved deck in it.
“Hey kid what’s your name?” asked Anthony walking away from the wall to stand a reasonable distance away from the snooty boy.
“I’m not gonna tell you,” said the snooty boy.
“DUEL!” the two called to each other and the little boy went to sit down on the grass to wait. Anthony requested that this duel be in his perspective and I succumbed.
My Duel Disk lit up signaling the first turn was with me. We both drew our hands. Mine consisted of Debris Dragon, Dark Verger, Chaos Sorcerer, Super Solar Nutrient, and Threatening Roar. “I go first and I draw!” I said pulling one card from my deck into my hand. I made sure to look at his movements to see if he was cheating or not. I then looked at the card I drew and it was Twilight Rose Knight.
The boy was looking through his hand as well and he was smirking to himself. I yearned to see what was so funny but I quelled that thought because he could easily be bluffing if he was such a good cheater.
“I summon Twilight Rose Knight,” I declared placing the monster from my hand onto a monster slot in my Duel Disk. On the field the monster materialized. I then summoned Dark Verger from my hand as the boy should know that he can check the effects of what I summon by pressing that blue button.
“How did you summon two monsters?” he asked me and I began thinking he was an idiot but I still didn’t think of him as such.
“Twilight Rose Knight’s effect allows me to special summon 1 level 4 or lower Plant-Type monster from my hand,” I said feeling like I was explaining something easy to a idiot. “Anyway, I activate Super Solar Nutrient,” and I slid it into a Spell/Trap card slot because it was a Continuous Spell. The sun above began to have an evil look on its face and grew arms. A large smiley face appeared on the ground I was standing on. “I tribute my Dark Verger to Special Summon Lonefire Blossom,” and soon Dark Verger began changing and growing from a little sprout into a blossom spitting out fireworks. “I tribute Lonefire Blossom for its effect,” the sun changed back into its normal dull self and the smiley face faded as I sent Super Solar Nutrient to the Graveyard.
“Hey, mister, what is your name?” asked the little boy who was sitting behind me on the grass. I turned to look at him.
“My name is, Anthony but you may call me Mr. Ricks,” I said smiling to him and he smiled back with a smile brighter than the sun itself. “I Special Summon another Lonefire Blossom from my deck,” I said and the Duel Disk slid out a card from my deck into my hand and I placed it on the field and promptly put it back into the Graveyard its hologram barely appeared before it burst into flames and from the fire came Evil Thorn “I now shall tribute Evil Thorn to activate it’s effect.” Evil Thorn exploded as quickly as it had come and sent holographic shrapnel into the snooty boy’s Duel Disk. His Life Points fell 300 points to 7700.
“That type of puny damage is nothing to the great Edward,” said the seemingly fifteen year old boy sounding exceedingly more like a ten year old possibly seven.
“Great Edward? Are you okay boy?” I asked confused as to why in the world would someone his age say something so stupidly copied from something like Power Rangers or something.
“I’m fine but you won’t be when my turn comes,” said the snooty boy who I am assuming must be named Edward but I won’t make any assumptions like that because being wrong would be detrimental to my awesomely powerful reputation.
“Anyway, that summons two more Evil Thorns to my side of the field in Attack Position,” I said and pulled out the two cards jutted out from my deck and placed them on the field. Suddenly there were two more plants sprouting from the ground each one with a grenade growing as fruit. “Tuning, I tune my Evil Thorns to my Twilight Rose Knight,” Suddenly my Twilight Rose Knight jumped into the air and with it came both Evil Thorns. They fell into line and became five balls of light in the air. “Android of the genesis of psychosis infused with magic, Synchro Summon, Rejuvenate the Psychics! Magical Android!” I felt a little stupid saying these types of things but they sounded pretty cool in my head so I didn’t really care. Regardless there was a flash of light and on my field was Magical Android. “I set one card face-down and end my turn!” I slipped Threatening Roar into a slot on my Duel Disk and now my Life Points became 8600 and Edward’s duel disk lit up.
“My turn and I draw!” said Edward and I think he knew that I chose a Duel Disk duel so that it would be hard for him to cheat. “I Special Summon 2 Nightmare Knights’s from my hand,” he said placing two monsters from his hand onto his Duel Disk. Mere moments later there appeared two black shapes on the field. Every few seconds they became a little more discernable. Eventually there were two heavily armored knights with great long black swords. “Draw 2 cards,” he said and I just followed what he told me picking up two cards from my deck and placing them into my hand. (Nightmare Knight, Dark, Warrior, Level 8, 2000, 1000)
“Now wait, you are aware that you just gave me 2 free draws and you can’t kill Magical Android?” I asked hoping he noticed he was only hurting himself with this.
“Yeah, what are you going to do about it,” he said confusing the crap out of me but I didn’t comment because this was getting stupid. I decided to just be silent for a while. “I Activate the Field Spell, Possession Nightmare!” He revealed the card from his hand to me and a special slot opened on his Duel Disk. He laughed out loud as he placed it into the slot. The world around me changed the sky was now black with random mixes of color intertwined. I was actually becoming a little scared once I started hearing odd voices albeit refreshing voices or one voice to be specific.
“Anthony,” it whispered to me making me quake in fear. It was a female voice similar to the one in my dream. I didn’t hearken to it and attempted to pay it no mind. Eventually it went away though I heard something like crying behind me I did not look.
“What is this?” I asked coming back to the duel.
“You are in my field of possession now mu ha ha ha ha ha, you mean our field of possession. Now no one can use Spells or Traps without summoning first,” said the boy with a demonic voice which was very creepy. I had no idea what I was getting in to but I didn’t like it one bit. Though I was so determined to win I didn’t care.
Both his monsters gained 500 attack points which shocked me for a second until I realized that it must be the effect of the Field Spell.
“I summon Nightmare Were-Wolf in attack position,” the boy with a
demonic voice said. “Tuning, I tune my Nightmare Were-Wolf to my Nightmare Knight. May the Roman army be proud of your might, Synchro Summon, My Name is Legion! Nightmare of Legion!” I looked on as an amalgamation of body parts appeared on the field. Soon though it was cloaked in black armor and had its face hidden by a visor. It had a mace in one hand and a sword in the other. This scared me more than I thought it would and I stepped backwards and was shocked when I bumped into something. I looked back in fright and no one was there. I stood where I was nearly paralyzed by fright as to what was going on and what happened to the boy. I looked over again and saw that the boy was on the ground.(Nightmare of Legion, Dark, Warrior, Level 10, 2500, 2500)
“Are you okay?” I yelled across the field hoping to hear an obnoxious reply but I heard nothing.
“I am a servant of Master Crystal, Legion,” said a disembodied voice that sounded particularly evil. Soon a person came into focus but upon closer viewing it was barely a person at all. The face seemed like an amalgamation of many different faces and I imagined the rest of the body being similar. It looked grotesque so I attempted to pay it no mind. “And that girl behind you, may I have her?” I looked behind me at his words and saw a really cute girl there she had skin as white as snow, light red seemingly pink hair sprouted from her head and fell down her neck. I continued on my way down after noticing the pinkish eye color. She was wearing something reminiscent of something a roman woman would wear but she had one feature that stood out more than anything. She had rosy reddish wings sprouting from her back and upon closer inspection her wings were made out of red roses.
“Who are you?” Anthony asked the cute and beautiful rose winged girl who just smiled.
“I’m Elizabeth and you are kinda in a bad spot right now. The Interzone is dangerous and I kinda suggest you win before he attacks you,” said the rose-winged girl named Elizabeth smiling although it wasn’t a mischievous smile but rather a nice one.
I being one who if in a dangerous position would love to get out unscathed wanted to just give this girl to the demon. I decided not to because this was a cute girl and hey looking good in front of cute girls is always good.
“Nightmare of Legion’s effect activates. I declare Monster. This turn and next if you don’t summon a monster you cannot activate a spell or trap but that’s redundant,” said Legion laughing a creepy and eldritch laugh. “Now Nightmare of Legion attack him directly!” The armored knight made of an amalgamation of random body parts walked forward and pulled out its spiked mace. It swung it at my gut hard. It hit me hard and I felt the spikes stab into me. It felt like something had just started internally bleeding. But If I just fell over and died I would not look good so after the initial shock I regained my balance and spit it out a gush of blood. I was bleeding badly and knew I had little time left. My lifepoints rolled down to 5600. And then he declared the attack of his Nightmare Knight who drew his sword and attempted to cut me but i was able to fend off the blow with my Duel Disk. my life points fell 2000 points to 3600.
I didn’t speak as he set 1 card face-down and ended his turn.
I drew 1 card and being forced to summon I did so. I summoned Debris Dragon. I used its effect to grab Lonefire from my Graveyard and special summon it. I sent them both to the graveyard and my vision began fading. Black Rose Dragon appeared and roared. This was where I began iffy on whether the effect would kill me. I accepted that possibility anyway and activated its effect. It roared a powerful roar and red rose petals began becoming a small hurricane of rose. Every card on the field shattered but when the hurricane was gone there were 5 monsters on my opponents field all of them were just bodies standing on their own. I activated Pot of Avarice returning 5 monsters from my graveyard to my deck and drew 2. My hand was a little oversized now but it was doing no good. One of the cards returned was Black Rose Dragon. I saw a card that I was so against adding to my deck in my hand, Treasure of Harmony. I gained new found strength at this.
“I activate Treasure of Harmony!” I said with force which hurt but I didn’t care because I was going to win. “I discard Debris Dragon to draw 2 cards,” I sent Debris Dragon to the graveyard and ripped two cards from my deck. One of them was never in there the other was really helpful but also never there.
I thought for a minute about my cards and began smiling. Elizabeth floated beside me and pointed to the card that was never there. I looked at the art and it was something I had always needed for my deck but was never created. “Is this card good?” she asked smiling to me.
“Of course it is,” I said and Legion looked confused. “I activate Re-Run Summon, which allows me to Special Summon 1 monster that was summoned this turn the same way it was summoned the first time. “Reappear! Black Rose Dragon,” my field rewinded until Black Rose Dragon was back on the field and roaring. “Black Rose Gale!!” Once again a storm of rose petals wrecked the field and I felt some of them scratch and cut my face but I didn’t care because worse damage had already been done. Soon all the tokens were destroyed along with Black Rose Dragon.
“It’s not over yet, I activate the Spell Card, Rose Finish! I can only activate it when Black Rose Dragon’s effect destroyed cards on the field this turn. It inflicts damage equal to every monster destroyed by Black Rose Dragon’s effect this turn times 1000 which means you take 8000 damage for game,” I said revealing the finishing card from my hand. A white spiritish form appeared for every monster destroyed by Black Rose Dragon they all converged upon Black Rose Dragon’s sudden reappearance. It leaned its head back and breathed in pulling in every whitish spirit with it. It then exhaled an extremely large Black Rose Flare at Legion. When it was over Legion was gone the snooty boy remained and I limped over to the snooty boy and found the Nightmare deck. I removed Nightmare of Legion and ripped it into pieces. I then took the entire deck and limped back over to the little boy who seemed scared at my bleeding I guess he was confused I thought he would have seen me. I gave him the deck.
“I told you I’d replace all the cards he shredded,” I said passing out immediately. I recalled the events of the day and felt like I did something good. I am probably dead now but I don’t know why I feel like an idiot.
A man was standing on a Duel Field surrounded by a vast number of people. He was holding a Duel Disk and a black sleeved deck was in it. His opponent was a boy around the same height who had a dark skin tone. Suddenly on the boy’s field there was a large white tigress with ice on her claws and teeth. Behind the boy was a ice-winged girl looking very much like Elizabeth except different hair and eye color.
Anthony woke up with a start and immediately wrote down the dream he had been having on to the first piece of paper he saw. Due to the enormous prophetic ability of his dreams and the fact that he met the rose-winged girl who saved him from his fall, now he knows that he will soon be dueling against a duelist who utilizes Ice monsters. And he knew who that duelist was.
He finally looked at his surroundings and saw some surgical equipment and the room looked white. He also saw a T.V in the corner it was showing recaps of famous duels in Yu-Gi-Oh the duel on now was from before Duel Disks. There seemed to be a Thousand Eyes Restrict on the field and a face-down. He turned away from that uninterested because he knew about that duel as he was majoring in Duel Theory and his minor was going to be Duel History. Duel Theory if you didn’t know revolved around the many thought processes going into a duel and what each card essentially does. In recent times momentum has been thrown out the window due to cards like Zero Sum which makes every player gain or lose the exact same cards (If a monster was destroyed the destroying player must destroy a monster on his field. The same with discarding and Spell/Trap destruction.)
They now rely on Draw Control as a new theory. To explain if you thin out your deck that controls your draw ratio. Like with Evil Thorn and Lonefire Blossom using them takes 4 monsters out of your deck lowering a standard deck of 40 cards to 30 cards on the first turn giving a 1:30 chance to draw a specific card that you actually want. In other words you thin out what is definitely going to be dead in your hand so that you only draw things that have a high chance of being utilized. To explain further if you have 3 Debris Dragon left in your deck you now have 1:10 chance to draw exactly it. If you are running cards that give you a draw the chance changes dramatically. Like if you were running Card Destruction and had 5 cards left in your hand after activation. You now are drawing 5 more cards and assuming the cards in your hand were either dead or help better in the Graveyard, you gained regardless of your opponents draws. The chance of getting Debris increases dramatically. Because now you are drawing 5 cards and the rate of getting 1 debris 1:10 you have a 50/50 chance to draw Debris Dragon and if you don’t you still drew playable cards if you already dumped the unplayable ones. Anthony of course wanted to make his own theory for once and receive that Takahashi Prize but that was just a long time from now.
He looked around the room and smiled that he was alive. He climbed out the bed and looked down at himself and realized he was nearly naked. He saw a call button and pressed it. A minute later a hot nurse arrived with nice brown hair and beautiful eyes but seeing Elizabeth spoiled that for him once he compared the two.
“Excuse me but how long was I out?” Anthony asked still a little confused with all that was jumbled in his head. All he could remember was being hit with a mace.
“A week, though your injuries healed faster than they should have and you will be free to go after we run a few tests to see if you are fine,” said the nurse solicitously like a nurse should. She turned around and them motioned for him to follow her. He did so with great gusto. As it turned out she was only showing him to the room in which he would be tested for fitness. He was forced to run on a treadmill to see if there was any damage to his nervous system. He was also forced to eat nasty food and put through a MRI and an X-ray. When all was said and done he was given back his clothes and equipment consisting of an umbrella, Duel Disk, Deck, and some other stuff.
As it turned out he wasn’t in the school he was in an actual hospital. He walked outside unassisted and saw that he was rather far from where he should be. He took out his cellphone happy that his parents are at least paying for that.
He of course had no idea how to contact the school so called Jeffery.
“Big Booty Dog Nasty, Big Booty Dog Nasty, Big Booty Dog Nasty,” chimed a noise from Jefferies pocket while he was on-stage. The entire crowd heard and began laughing. He took out from his pocket a cellphone flipped it open and inhaled as if to begin speaking into it. He clicked a button and closed it again. He was extremely embarrassed.
“Carry on,” said the voice of Monsieur Grenshaw behind him.
“I thank all of you students who have given me a reason to accelerate my education. I’m not saying you were bad schoolmates or anything,” Said Jeffery about to continue his speech until…
“Big Booty Dog Nasty, Big Booty Dog Nasty, Big Booty Dog Nasty, Big Booty Dog Nasty,” chimed Jeffries cellphone still in his hand. He sighed with a bright blush and answered the phone.
“Hello,” he said gesticulating to the crowd to wait a minute.
“It’s me Anthony, I’m able to leave the hospital now but my car is at the school could you get someone to pick me up?” said Anthony’s voice from the phone but as it turned out Jeffery had accidently put it on speaker and the crowd laughed as they heard. “Who’s with you?” his voice asked.
“You idiot couldn’t you have called later or got a cab or something. I’m in the middle of my graduation speech. I can’t just leave to pick you up even if I could drive,” said Jeffery and luckily his voice wasn’t picked up by the microphone.
“I have no money and I didn’t know don’t get on my case I just need a ride,” said Anthony and the crowd heard this and laughed some more.
“Ah fine, I’ll get someone to pick you up,” said Jeffery hanging up the cellphone and turning it off. He turned back to the crowd. “Well as you heard my friend needs a ride back to the school and could someone please go get him from the hospital.”
There was a chorus of laughter and a few “yes” until Monsieur Grenshaw stepped in. “I’ll get him, just continue your speech,” he said and turned on his heel and walked off stage and through the stage right exit.
Anthony was sitting on the ground in front of the Hospital entrance for a good twenty minutes until a car showed up in front of the building. He got up and walked towards it hoping it was his ride home.
The window rolled down. “Are you a friend of Jeffery Loyals?” asked the man inside the car he looked severe and irritated.
“Yes, are you here to take me back to Pinot Noir?” Anthony asked hoping so still. He dared not check his pockets for his things for the fear he would get left due to having the semblance of a threat.
“Sure, get in,” said the man and John relieved got in the front seat beside him.
Anthony was scared to ask any questions for the fear that he might get kicked out at some point. Finally they reached the huge twin hills and parked in a specialized parking spot for the dean. Anthony did not question this because it could be a clever plot to be evil and messing up evil plots has serious repercussions.
The two walked in complete silence up the hill until the man said something.
“I am the dean of this school and had no idea you were supposed to be staying here so who are you?” he asked seeming a little pissed off that someone unknown was in his school and could have done anything before that.
“I’m a friend of Jeffery and have hired him to help me although there is no pay so we came here so he could graduate before we began work on my school project,” said Anthony trying to not seem suspicious although from the clothes he was wearing he was already very suspicious.
“Are you leaving today?” he asked wanting very much for this man to leave the school grounds without a fight.
“Yes, once Jeffery is ready to go,” Anthony said smiling but then he wondered what happened to that rose-winged girl who was with him during his last duel. He hoped he could have another dream with her in it. He might learn something through that.
“Fine, but you cannot stay here any longer than today,” he said as they continued the walk in silence up until they entered the auditorium and John was met with laughter but luckily Jeffery was finished with his speech and all that was left was the afterword.
Anthony just went on stage and stood up behind the chairs the important heads of the school were sitting in. Soon the afterword was over and the students dismissed.
“Why did you have to wake up so early?” said Jeffery unhappy that he now can’t escape his end of the bargain.
“Because, I was almost killed and thought I was dead,” said Anthony calmly and on the verge of laughter but still in the back of his mind was the rose-winged girl named Elizabeth who disappeared.
“Almost killed, you were just unconscious,” said Jeffery laughing at Anthony not knowing that Anthony really could have died if he lost that duel in the interzone.
“Just get your stuff, we gotta get on the road,” said Anthony as a little boy walked up behind him. The little boy grabbed his jacket and pulled.
Anthony turned around only to see the little boy he helped earlier this week. “Thanks a lot mister,” said the boy holding in his hand the deck that Anthony gave him.
“You’re welcome, and don’t forget never ever make bets over Yu-Gi-Oh ,” said Anthony smiling at Jeffery who was just shocked that Anthony had the audacity to say something so contradictory of his actions.
The little boy scampered away and that was the last time either of them saw the little boy because they left nearly immediately afterwards after getting their bags.
They were driving for a good three hours until the car ran out of gas but luckily they were in a town albeit a dangerous one. There were also signs with pictures of the John boy and some people who seemed to be his friends with cash rewards for their capture.
