vamps don't really top outside of local tournaments to be honest, and the only card they lose after october is nocturnus.

So far this deck is been working pretty good made Top 4 the last 2 weeks:

Land
4x Evolving Winds
4x Terramorphic Expanse
2x Tectonic Edge
1x Drowned Catacomb
1x Jwar Isle Refuge
11x Swamp

I've played against Jund, B/U Control, Red Deck Wins, Naya, G/R Ramp Valakut and Ally.

First week I lost to Ally and yesterday I lost to G/R Ramp Valakut. Both Matches were close but I ran of boom at the end.

I need help with a Sideboard. And I still trying to find a way to run Vamps without Nocturnus.

Tell me what u guys think.

How do you pojo'ers feel about Kalastria Highborn?

I've been wanting to play Vamps for a while now, and have only started to collect the cards necessary. I'm currently looking at auctions for KH and Malakir Bloodwitch, but would KH be justified over Hexmage in a vamp deck?

yes, highborn is a good card in faster builds as its an excellent wrath deterrent. (sure I lose my dudes, take 8) However hexmage DOES kill planeswalkers so ultimatly its a meta decision.

The only problem i see with vampires after the rotation is losing nocturnus and tendrils. If we could find cards that would compliment our decks in place of those cards then we'd be okay. Any suggestions on what we could replace them with?

Not sure what to replace Tendrils with, but Captivating Vampire seems like the only logical fit for the loss of Nocturnus.

I've been playing a deck lately that has been dubbed V.W.(vampire weenies). Hasn't seen tourney play yet (list to follow) so i'm not too sure how it will fare, but in casual matches (undder t2 rules) it has been doing ok. (the people i play with are by no means "scrubs" they just have a real slim budget...)

It basically starts out with alot of 1 and 2 drops (bloodghast, kalastria, lacerator, duress...etc.) By the time midgame rolls around I can Corrupt for a nice hit, and start to steal stuff shortly thereafter with the Captivating Vampire.

I know Corrupt is sub par to tendrills, but i'm trying to find out what else fits... Somethingn with a lower cmc maybe... And, Lacerator, in my humble opinion is a G. one drop. Especially in a deck that focuses on keeping the curve relatively low.

On the Nocturnus thing... I've seen a bunch of people trying this too...
Abyssal Persecutor? Think about it. We already run answers to his down side... Gatekeeper, Consuming Vapors, Tendrils, and Aristocrat if you so choose . Off the top of my head...

Whats a -Good- mono B wipe these days? All is dust? <<Is ok, but there are too many purpose driven Eldrazi decks in my area. They really ought to do a Damnation remake... Day of Judgement, but black... and after they hook up the blue mages. -inb4manaleakistype2again!-

Personally, I feel as though you may be a little heavy on the sludge. My last build also ran 4x Bloodwitch. Maybe try that out?
The logic being that people just get this look on their face after they get Sludge'd (unless they can gain -crazy- advantage somehow). It in and of its self basically seals the game. Not wins... but makes it neigh impossible to recover from a hard hit. Therefore you really only -need- to see 1.

Also, I feel while Vampire Nighthawk dies to anything like Lightning Bolt or better, it is still a better option than the Bloodlord in the 3 cmc range.

Not too sure about 2x of both Smother and Disfigure... but I can't suggest better just yet. Maybe Urge to Feed, or Feast of Blood if you can keep 2 creatures out. (I see you run the Cap. Vamp. so I assume so?)

Thanks I made a change. I'm wondering if Consuming vapors would be a good card to use. I see people use it and I do like it but I don't know if I'd wanna take out disfigure or smother. I see Abyssal Persecutor is also a card people are looking at. Again I just don't know what to take out. I'm on the fence with Captivating as well. I'm thinking of maybe replacing some of them with monuments to kind give them a more nocturnus boost.

Consuming vapors, is in my opinion is conditional on running Abyssal Persecutor.

Only other thing I have to say about vapors is "In before Eldrazi 0/1 mana producers." Thats mostly because they run rampant where I play. Its almost gotten to the point where Gatekeeper's slots are better spent.

I honestly cant say what to cut either... A hard kill always seems more alluring, in my opinion.

Eldrazi monument is a far better buffer than Captivating vampire, personally im going to try a mix of the two.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I was actually pondering running Captivating myself.
How has it been doing for you?

Also, as an aside:If you are able to keep decent board presence, I found that W.W. and Eldrazi (less than W.W. from my experience.) are less likely to Day of Judgement, or All is dust (creature wipes) while you have a Highborn out and some mana untapped. "Ok. You kill 4 of my creatures, but you're gonna take 8 damage too. Oh, and I gain 8 life btw..."

If you pm me, I'll share my list (old and new) as long as you swear on your rarest card you wont net deck the **** outta it.

Edit; Blackheart is right, imho. However Captivating Vamp has a body.
EDIT2; What is the -best- mono B wipe available right nao?

Well I was looking at cards today and thought up this decklist. It's a pretty new idea right now but I feel it has potential.

LMAO NO WAY? earlier tonight this same deck was made just on a whim and it tested well, but i run RDW so against that it didn't do so hot. after fine tuning it it will have nighthawks and our build had feast of blood and kalistra highborn which i feel are two staples in a deck like this.

It has a sticky as people kept spamming up the first page of this forum with Vampire decks because the youth of today is all Twilight obsessed and stuff.

Dude answered with a Deprive(Ummm see the left column of my signature). So, I hit him for 4. I swung with all three but he Unsummoned the Nighthawk

@ Mike I scrapped my deaths gate build. It was just something i wanted to mess around with. List was kinda similar to yours but wound up being too inconsistent for my liking; not worth sharing.

However, this is an idea that I will sit on 'till Alara rotates.

Also @ Mike I will -hesitantly- send you my other lists, via Private Message either later tonight or tomorrow.

take out two baisic land, as 24 is excessive for this build, the two grim discovery, and the 4 hex mage.
