My initial thoughts:

1. The artwork looks awesome

2. 3/3 Flyer for 4 is perfectly fair as far as costs go

3. Seems like your standard Black creature/card, it hurts the opponent in some way but it also hurts you. At least it's keeping with the Black theme

4. We got one of the better preview cards that I've seen

Those are my initial thoughts anyway.

This card isn't terribly exciting. 3/3 flying for 4 is OK, except for the double black part. It'll be fun in casual playing this alongside midnight banshee, banshee blade, and maybe Kiku, but as far as constructed, I don't see it making a splash. And I'll have to disagree with the artwork comments--I'm just not feeling it from this card.

I completely agree with Lokie.

The card isn't great play-wise. I think the artwork is pretty good. It's cool to see that Pojo has it's own MTG card, though c:

I love the art. Howling Banshee is now our little section's mascot.

Too bad this was already spoiled weeks ago. It's an insane pick in limited.

Thanks, Pojo!

I like the looks of this thing in Limited. Looks like the nuts.

Onion, stop being such a downer. =/ This is cool! Pojo exclusive preview! It means we can pretend to matter!

Onion's cynicism makes me laugh so much =D

I didn't notice how good this could be in Limited. Hm. Thanks for that.

Definitely cool we got our own individual preview card. Its quite an interesting card, and one of the better ones design-wise for this set.

I can't wait to draft M10 for a few weeks. It's going to be amazingly fun.

I'm not being a "downer", I'm being realistic.

I just reread your post and now realize the context you were speaking of. My bad!

Heroic, LOL at your sig.

This is probably going to be the best limited Core Set ever. I know I'm grabbing this P1P1 if I get it.

That's probably because this Core Set was designed with Limited in mind.

Surely not over any chase rare or good enough Mythic for the first few weeks since they'll be overvalued early.

I think the rares/mythics you're going to want to take no matter what in this set for at least the first few weeks before values settle down are:

Bomb means insane in limited, by the way.

Ajani Goldmane - Bomb, $10-15 rare
Baneslayer Angel - Bomb, mythic
Captain of the Watch - Bomb, mythic
Honor of the Pure - Bomb, chase rare for BW Tokens and Kithkin
Planar Cleansing - Bomb
Silence - Chase rare
Djinn of Wishes - Bomb, potential sleeper
Jace Beleren - Bomb, $6-$10 rare
Sphinx Ambassador - Bomb, mythic
Time Warp - Bomb, mythic, reprint
Traumatize - Chase rare for casuals
Liliana Vess - Mythic
Vampire Nocturnus - Bomb, mythic
Ball Lightning - Playable rare, $5-8
Bogardan Hellkite - Bomb, mythic, $4-5
Chandra Nalaar - Bomb, mythic
Magma Phoenix - Bomb
Siege-Gang Commander - Bomb, playable, $3-4
Ant Queen - Bomb
Birds of Paradise - Chase rare
Elvish Archdruid - Bomb, $6-8
Garruk Wildspeaker - Bomb, chase rare, mythic
Great Stable Stag - Chase rare, +EV against Fae
Master of the Wild Hunt - Bomb, mythic
Protean Hydra - Bomb, mythic
Darksteel Colossus - Bomb, mythic, chase rare
New dual lands + Gargoyle Castle - chase rares. Gargoyle Castle is also a potential bomb/sleeper.

That's a really good analysis. I might print that off and take it with me to the Prerelease.

Start aggregating all the values of the cards via a few top dealers:

StarCityGames
TrollAndToad
ChannelFireball
eBay/MagicTraders

Average them out, see what seems fair to you, and make those the absolute *highest* you will value those cards at for the PR.

You should also aim for foil versions of playable commons/uncommons as well as a few chase commons/uncommons such as Lightning Bolt, Doom Blade and Overrun. With enough trading around, you can stock up a LOT for States and make an easy killing on cards people will simply need around that time as well as for the remaining PTQ season.
