Default Berry Locations, Pokeblock and Contest Guide V 10

Hi there this is I come from Callisto on my new account. I have now posted my guide on the new forum. I am sorry that it has already been posted by one of the mods but I will not be able to make updates on that post so I would ask that the guide posted by R.64 be removed. I would like to make edits as with the release of pokemon colloseum there should be some more info on the unnobtainable berries.

V) Phrases For the Berry Master's Wife

Tell the BMW "Super Hustle" for a Belue Berry

These are the phrases for getting the rarest berries from the BMW. These codes can only be used once to get the rare berries. If entered again you will get a common berry that is random. There are some other phrases that you can tell her that get you a random berry.

Tell the BMW "Angry Abra" for a random berry

Tell the BMW "absolutely Oddish" for a random berry
Tell the BMW "absolutely babe" for a random berry

The rarest berry that you will get with these phrases is a Lum Berry.

u]VI) Maximising Yield[/u]

To maximise the amount of berries that you get off of a tree is very important especially with some of the rarer berries where there is only one in the game. To do anything with these berries you will need to plant them. If you didn't do anything then the tree would only produce one berry. The only way currently known to increase your yield is to water the tree with the Wailmer Pail that you are given in the flower shop. I would suggest to get a good amount berries from a tree I would water the tree every two hours. You don't have to do this at night you are watering it enough anyway.

VII) Pokeblock Case

The Pokeblock case is located in the Hyper rank Pokemon contest hall in Slateport. Without the Pokeblock case you will not be allowed to Berry Blender in the game. The person that will give you the pokeblock case is the girl just North of the main door.

VII) Berry Blender
The Berry Blender is the machine that is used to mix berries into pokeblocks. The Berry Blenders are located only in the contest halls in Verdanturf, Fallabor, Slateport and Lilycove. It is possible to Berry Blender with four humans at the Lilycove contest hall.
The level of the Pokeblock can never be changed during blending. There is another value that can be changed this is the Feel of the Pokeblock. The better the Feel the better the Pokeblock. To get a better feel in a Pokeblock you need to spin the Berry Blender very fast. The faster the Berry Blender the better the feel. The better feel values are the lower values, so the lower the feel rating the better the Pokeblock.
To obtain a much better feel rating for your Pokeblocks I would recommend that you Berry Blender with three friends (If you have them that is). The reason for this is that human players are less likely to miss their part of the Berry Blender and get an X slowing down the Berry Blender. The computer players are ok but hey get a lot of Xs which slows it down immensley.

X - Slows it down
O - Speeds it up a little
O inside an O - Speeds it up a lot

To try and get a very good speed to start off with the person who has the first go as it were, should prees their A button a lot on the first revolution and get a lot of Os and Os inside Os. This will speed up the Berry Blender a lot on its first revolution and all that is left to do is all the players hit the Berry Blender in the right place for the rest of the round without getting any Xs, and a huge speed will occur generating a very good pokeblock.

VIII) Types of Pokeblocks

Colour Effect
Red Raises Coolness
Blue Raises Beauty
Pink Raises Cuteness
Green Raises Smartness
Yellow Raises Toughness

Indigo Raises Cuteness and Beauty
Brown Raises Smartness and Cuteness
Purple Raises Coolness and Smartness
Liteblue Raises Toughness and smartness
Olive Raises Coolness and toughness

Gold Raises Toughness and Beauty
Gray Raises Coolness, toughness and cuteness

As of the moment these are the only pokeblocks that are available. There are of course berries that are obtained throught the E-reader however, at the moment I have no information on these berries or their Pokeblocks.

X) Contest Pass
The contest pass is the most important item for competeing in contests. This is because without it you cannot enter contests. The contest pass is located in the Normal Rank Pokemon contest hall in Lavaridge Town. When you enter there will be a little girl standing on her own. Speak to her and she will give you the Contest Pass

XII) Scarves
The scarves are hold items that raise a pokemons condition in a contest. There are five scarves they are:

Green scarf: Raises smartness in a contes
Blue Scarf: Raises Beauty in a contest
Yellow Scarf: Raises toughness in a contest
Pink Scarf: Raises cuteness in a contest
Red Scarf: Raises coolness in a contest

The scarves are located in Slateport City. There is a man in the building just North of the market in Slateport. He is in the middle of the room and is sitting on the sofa. He will make a comment about your pokemon when you speak to him. To get a scarf from him then you will need to have maximised on of the pokemons conditions by using Pokeblocks. If on of these conditions has been maxed out then he will give you the scarf that corresponds to the condition maxed out. So if you have maxed out smartness he will give you the Green Scarf. If he doesn't give you a scarf then you will need to feed it more Pokeblocks.

XIII) Contest Combos

Contest Combos help get a higher score in the contests. If a combo is performed effectively then the amount of hearts generated from the second move will be doubled. If there is a chance for a combo a '!' will appear above the judges head and it will say 'The judge is looking at X expectantly'. To tell what move to do then the combo move will appear in Red.

XIV) Contest Moves Which Up the Pokemon's condition

When used the following moves will up the users condition. This is shown by a star appearing above the judges head and then a star appearing on your section of the second round judging on the left of the bar.

I will list the moves followed by what contest type they are.

Acid Armor/Tough contest
Amnesia/Cute contest
AncientPower/Tough contest
Belly Drum/Cute contest
Bulk Up/Beauty contest
Cosmic Power/Cool contest
Dragon Dance/Cool contest
Growth/Beauty contest
Howl/Cool contest
Meditate/Beauty contest
Refresh/Cute contest
Silver Wind/Beauty contest
Swallow/Tough contest
Tail Glow/Beauty contest

XV) Paintings
Paintings are an important part of the game. They are awarded to you if you do well in the master rank of contests. They are so important because once you have a painting for all types of the contests then you get a star on your trainer card and a Glass Pigeot statue.
When you win a contest you are given two ratings hearts and stars. The Stars represent the results from the primary judging and therefore your Pokemon's condition. The hearts show how well the Pokemon did in the second round of judging. These are both out of ten. To get a painting painted you must win the master rank contest with at least five hearts. The hearts are representative of a points sytem. To get a painting drawn then you need to have accmulated enough points to get six hearts (the minimum is 18 points).
Points are awarded after each appeal.
So if you have

This is the same with any of the appeals that you make. The amount of points you get is the amount of hearts at the end of the turn.
Jams deduct points from you. They only deduct points if you finish your turn with the jam heary
So if you have

For the table full credit goes to JC "Myst Erik Ery" D from gamefaqs.com

-8 Points = -2 Hearts
-7 Points = -2 Hearts
-6 Points = -2 Hearts
-5 Points = -2 Hearts
-4 Points = -1 Heart
-3 Points = -1 Heart
-2 Points = -1 Heart
-1 Point = -1 Heart
0 Points = 0 Hearts
1 Point = 1 Heart
2 Points = 1 Heart
3 Points = 1 Heart
4 Points = 1 Heart
5 Points = 2 Hearts
6 Points = 2 Hearts
7 Points = 2 Hearts
8 Points = 2 Hearts
9 Points = 3 Hearts

To get the painting done you need 17 points and to have won the contest.

NOTE: To get the painting in the museum you need to have spoken to the cuator of the museum. After he asks you to get the paintings for him then you can get the paintings done.

XV) Berry growing

Synopsis of what follows:
It appears that the number of berries you get is most affected by the watering that you do. Secondary factors are whether the game is on, and whether battling is done while the game is on.
Growth time is extended by the game being on, and by battling when the game is on.

The following conclusions are based on four weeks of testing. If someone has different information, based on experimental data, I?d like to compare notes with you.

This is for berries that are obtained in Ruby (with i.d. number 4), plus the e-reader berry cards.

(1) A given berry takes a given amount of time to grow. We have known these as growth rates of 4, 12, 16, 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours.

But the actual growing time is longer than these minimum growing times, if the GBA is turned on. It does not matter if you are playing Pokemon or not, when the game is turned on the berry?s growing time is longer. So a Nanab that would grow in 4 hours while the game is turned off takes 4 hours and 3 minutes if the game is on a short time (just for watering the berry) or 4 hours and 34 minutes if the game is on throughout the whole growth period.

I think that this increase in growth time starts accumulating if the GBA is on for more than one minute at a time.

For every hour that the game is on, an average of eight minutes is added to the growth time. At the extreme end, this meant that the 96 hour Strib berry took 107 hours and 30 minutes to grow.

There is an additional increase in growing time if you participate in battles. I have less data on this factor, but it seems to be three minutes added for every hour that you are battling.

Here are ranges for the growing times, with the three times being for 'minimum growing time,' 'growing time when GBA is on for a short time,' and 'growing time when the GBA is on continuously during the growth period, and some battling is done':
4 hours - 4 hours 3 minutes - 4 hours 43 minutes
12 hours - 12 hours 5 minutes - 14 hours 1 minute
16 hours - 16 hours 5 minutes -
24 hours - 24 hours 7 minutes - 27 hours 46 minutes
48 hours - 48 hours 25 minutes - 55 hours 8 minutes
72 hours - 72 hours 34 minutes - 82 hours 35 minutes
96 hours - unknown - 107 hours 30 minutes

[BTW, when a number of berries (usually over seven) are planted at the same time, the game may register them as being planted at different times. What appears to be a one minute span of time on my clock could become as much as a three minute difference on the game?s clock.]

(2) There are four phases in a berry's growth:
phase 1: berry being planted, to sprouting
phase 2: sprouting, to growing taller
phase 3: growing taller, to blooming
phase 4: blooming, to becoming a berry

(3) When a berry is transforming from one phase to the next, there is a sparkling effect for about two seconds. When a bunch of berries transform at the same time it is like a mini fireworks display.

(4) Each phase takes one-quarter of the total growth time. So a Nanab (which grows in 4 hours) is in each phase for one hour, if the game is turned off.

If the game is turned on during any growth phase, that phase takes longer to complete. If the game is on for an entire hour during a growth phase, one hour of growth takes approximately 68 minutes.

If there is battling during any growth phase, that phase takes even longer to complete. Figure on one hour of growth taking 1 hour and 11 minutes if you are battling.

Here are ranges for the phase times. Use these ranges to decide when to water the berries. The three times are for ?minimum total growing time,? ?minimum time for a phase, when GBA is on for a short time,? and ?maximum time for a phase, when the game is on continuously and some battling is done.?

4 hours - 1 hour - 1 hour 11 minutes
12 hours - 3 hours - 3 hours 37 minutes
16 hours - 4 hours - 4 hours 37 minutes
24 hours - 6 hours - 7 hours 7 minutes
48 hours - 12 hours - 13 hours 52 minutes
72 hours - 18 hours - 20 hours 54 minutes
96 hours - 24 hours - 26 hours 52 minutes

You want to know when a planted berry is in each phase, so that you can turn on the game (or stop battling) and go water the berry.

(5) The length of the berry growing time is not affected by watering.

(6) There is the same berry yield if a plant is watered once during a phase, or multiple times during a phase.

(7) After testing all permutations of watering during two, three, and four phases, the results are:
a) The berry yield is highest when the plant is watered during each of the four phases.
b) Sometimes there is a one berry decrease in yield if the plant is watered during three out of the four phases. The pattern is not consistent, but there doesn?t seem to be a difference in yield based on which of the three phases are watered.
c) There is usually a decrease in yield if plants are only watered during two phases instead of three.
d) Sometimes there is an increased yield of one berry if the game is on, or if you are battling while the berry is growing.
e) If you water at the beginning of one phase, and the end of the next phase, you can have free time for sleeping and other activities ( except with the 4 hour berries).

( During the fourth phase, there are three phrases that indicate the productivity of the plant. In order of least berries yielded to maximum berries yielded these phrases are: ?blooming cutely,? ?blooming prettily,? and ?blooming very beautifully.? If you have watered the berry during each of the first three phases of growth, you should see a change from ?prettily? to ?very beautifully? when you do watering during the fourth phase. With less previous watering, you would see a change from ?blooming cutely? to ?blooming prettily.?

It is but if you use the index and find what you need to know then you can avoid all of the stuff that you don't need to use.

It used to be user friendly with lots of bold titles, colours and line breakers but I don't know how to do that now.

Just did a word check. It is nearly 7000 words long.

The Nanab berries don't make Brown pokeblocks in Lilycove, they make Purple pokeblocks.

Nice guide. *prints it out and tosses it into her notebook*

*plants Kelpsys all over Hoenn*

Hey here's something to consider. Why not list the different places in Hoenn that you can plant berries? I found all the places and I just fly around filling the Hoenn region with berries.

I got the Ganlon (sp?) berry from Jurachi.

I'm guessing that you may be able to get different berries from the Jurachi according to your ID number, unless when you get Jurachi it just gives you random berries.

My ID No.: 45807

I need to check with my friend because he got a Ganlon berry as well.

Also, one thing that wasn't added is that you get a random berry a day from the girl in the Pretty Flower Petal shop. (It's the girl on the bottom right in the shop.)

Oh here's a question.

What about berries that are Spicy, Dry, Sweet, Bitter, and Sour? Are they good for using in Pokéblocks?

GJ Rarehunter X.

Anyway sorry that it has been so long without an update to this guide but I have had exams (and am about to have them again sigh) and then I went on holiday so I really havn't had all that much time. Anyway I have just added a section of the berry name origins to the guide, plz note I was very tired when I wrote this so some are wrong/not done so any help would be good.

I have been aware of some rumors for quite a while now about a problem with peoples cartridges that affects the berry system in the game, any more info on this would also be appreciated as I don't play all to often anymore.

I think I PMed you earlier, Sturgy.

In Pokemon, after about a year of gameplay, the "berry glitch" takes effect, making berries cease to grow, etc. This can be fixed with the free bonus Gamecube disk that comes when you pre-order Colloseum. It'll fix the glitch as well as give you a Jirachi holding either a Salac or Ganlon berry, depending on your ID number, I believe. It's one Jirachi per game, meaning you can get a second cart and restart several times to get multiple Jirachi.

In Colloseum, you can exchange Poke-cupons for items, including the stat-raising berries.

So there are the four Mysterious Stat-raising berries.

As for the list:

2. Chestnut
6. Apple
17. Western Pear
21. Pomegranate
24. Honeydew
30. Lemon
33. Watermelon
40. Apricot
41. Lamsat

That's all I know.

You can also get the berry glitch fixed at participating stores, and you get a Shiny Zigzagoon with a berry, too.

How would they fix it at participating stores?

I have another question: will they be releasing a newer version of Ru/Sa with the berry glitch fixed? Do they do that with Pokemon games, like newer cartridges with glitches fixed? (they've done it with FFIII for SNES and Ocarina of Time for N64, I think).

A question about berries...

So, my cousin has some sort of cheating device, and he used it to get all the berries. It gave him 99 of each #s 1- 35, and then 4 different rows of #39s, and #40-42.
Im confused as to why the spaces for 36,37, and 38 are replaced by 39.. anyone got any ideas?

And what exactly does an engima berry do, and why can't you trade a pokemon holding one?
