Default Rule of Three - Trying to clear it up!

OK, this has come up SEVERAL times in other threads and I feel it needs to be cleared up a little...

The rule of three allows you to add +3 to any "Damage".

If you read a few of the rules and FAQ's, you'll notice that certain powers and abilites specifically state "increase the character's damage dealt..."

Ok, with that said - you would be able to add another +3 to that number.

For instance..

She-Hulks base damage is 3 and she is holding a heavy object. When she makes a close-combat attack, she is forced to use the object, which adds +2 to her damage dealt!!!

You would be able to perplex She-Hulks damage +3 still, since the "Damage Dealt" is not a combat value, the "Damage" is.

So, you take the base 3, add +3 with perplex, making the "Damage" +6, then you add the +2 for the heavy object, which increases the "Damage Dealt"...

It states in the description of using an object that - "On a successful attack, a light object increases the characters DAMAGE DEALT by 1; a heavy object increases the characters DAMAGE DEALT by 2."

This is legal but you have to read the powers and rules VERY CAREFULLY!!

Definition of DAMAGE DEALT:
The number of clicks an attacking character deals to a target character. Damage dealt equals an attacking character’s damage value modified by its powers and abilities and the powers and abilities of friendly characters in whatever order the attacking player chooses.

Definition of COMBAT VALUES:
The four numbers visible through the stat slot on a character’s dial, and the number printed next to the lightning bolt(s) on a character’s base. These numbers represent the character’s ability to move (speed value), succeed at an attack (attack value), avoid being hit (defense value), deal damage (damage value), and the distance at which the character may make a ranged attack (range value).

Is it clear as mud now?

think supes is bad? take a look at magog! 10 clicks of unsoakable damage in one charge? #@*&!!!!! that's amazing! and i believe the dumpster, from the items packs, is reuseable, ie doesn't get removed from the game. arm magog with that baby! yes, they toned down the hooker-bomb strategy, but by no means did they remove or completely fix this(kinda cheesy) great strategy!

Yeap, grab a dumpster, its indestructable.

We had a few people ask to use 3D objects in the regionals, but I said NO!
If you dont know the rules for using those items, dont let your opponent have them!

I'm still not sure, does RCE count as +2 of the +3 you can increase?

Yep, RCE is +2, then you can perplex that number up +1, to a max of +3.

So, with the old rules, a Firelord could do a max of 5 damage, but now he is capable of doing 6.
