Fool's Gold.
Fool's Gold
Counter-Trap
Negate the activation and/or effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster Card and destroy it. Then your opponent adds 1 card of the same name as the destroyed card from his/her Deck to his/her hand. If your opponent cannot do so, inflict 2000 points of Direct Damage to your Life Points.
Your thoughts?

Lol... pretty cool actually. You need to add a counter, though, so that this doesn't become broken. Something like "if your opponent cannot do so, he or she draws 2 cards", or something in that vein.
[ this is one of your best in a while, though ^_^ ]

What if it wasn't a monster that was destroyed?

Unless the card is in the banlist, or all copies prior to that card's poppin' up is sent to whatever, this is a waste of ink and money...
... so, depends. I'm the fool, or you are. (no offense meant)

Oh, yes, seen the mistake. Corrected.

NO! This card is a godsend against Limited cards!

Fine. Fair enough... I can see that (this game needs more effective Counter Traps against the like. But in that case, then you should add a BENEFIT to your opponent if they CAN find a card. Something like "your opponent draws 1 card" or "inflict 2000 damage to your Life Points" should do.
Something to prevent you from using this willy-nilly, and thus obsoleting most existing Counter Traps in one sweep.
[ then, this would pretty much only be used to counter the limiteds ]

I'll take the latter. At least it isn't a draw.
And, yes, this card has still much use outside those in the banlist.

Good thinking Tabris. If you left it as is, that is your opponent gets a free card from their deck, sure you'd be destroying their deck, but at the same time, since their is no way to get rid of that 1 card after the draw, then your opponent just got a freebie on your behalf. He/she would then bite you in the ass with that card later on!
