Don'tcha love how the Wizarding families almost all connect in some way? And how J.K.Rowling's name dropping hints at some of these connections even if she doesn't ever go outright and tell them to you?

BTW: Did you know that Dean Thomas's real father, not step-father, was taken down by Death Eaters <shrugs> who knew?

An example of what I'm saying above is:

I think that it is cool how they are all connected. Which makes me wonder who Harry is related to.

yea, harry might have distant relations, that may be death eaters or just not good people, so why was he sent to the dursleys? you never know JK will probably have some big Harry origin twist in the next one

He was sent to the Dursley's because those were his closest relatives and Dumbledore needed them to complete his charm.

Correct except that it wasn't his charm it was the remnants of the deep, love-invoked magic that Lily Potter placed on Harry. As long as he lives in a house under the protection of someone with his mother's blood he will stay protected. If you've ever read the Dark is Rising series they use deep magic too, instead of spells and charms it's all about wards, protection, and power.

also, mrs. figg was assigned to make sure that all went acording to plan, but yea, the charm needed to be sustained, so he had to go with the dursleys

I suppose it's quite possible, but I get the feeling that his distant relatives aren't very important to the story, otherwise we might have heard about them by now.

Well, Sirius' cousin was Nacina Malfoy and she married Lucius. So since Sirius is/was(whatever) Harry's godfather, Draco is partly related to Harry.

2) Narcissa Malfoy is one of Sirius's cousins as is Tonks and the rest-see OotP.
3) Highlight the area you want to be "spoiled" and change it to any color. Replace the color name with 333333 (6 3's).

<Shrugs> All that we know about Harry and Voldemort is that Voldemort transferred a bunch of likenesses over to Harry. But remember: Harry looks an awful lot like James with the exception of his eyes, but in the CoS Tom Riddle mentions how they also look similar to each other.

After rereading CoS, I casually wondered whether Harry is a decendant of Godric Gryffindor. I don't have any real theories about it or hard evidence like other things going on around here, but he did pull out Godric's sword from the Sorting Hat and Dumbledore says that only a true Gryffindor could have done that. Double meaning perhaps? As in a student truly belonging to the Gryffindor house, but also a Gryffindor by blood. Would have had to come from the Potter blood line. Anyway.

Could be. I always wondered about this myselfm though J.K. Rowling will have to have massive amounts of info on Godric in the next book.
