Default do tag teams have to be the same deck

is it even possible to make a tag team consisting of 2 different deck types and work?

I'd like to Point out that there is No such thing as Tag Team Dualing. Such thing is made up. Seeing as there are no Tags taking place whatsoever

Now there is Team Duals which is where 2 player play together and dont tag each other in and out.

As for your question Yes, Yes it is.

Me and my Friend one a Team Event. I was running RFG and he was running Counter Fairies. Worked out just fine.

There is no rule saying what you have to run the same decks. Each deck is allowed to be it's own deck and must follow the an list rules. I.E. You and your partner can each run 1 mirror force. Since Mirror Force is limited to one per deck each deck can contain 1 copy of it.

This link might help explain things a little better.

You can run whatever deck you choose (provided it conforms to the banlist), and your partner can do the same. They don't have to be the same theme or decktype. They just have to be able to work well with each other and cover each other well. If they can do that, then you should be fine.

In theory, they wouldn't do too badly. In practice, twice the Heavy Storms and twice the Lightning Vortexes and twice the mass monster removal means both up the creek without a boat.

Of course, that's what Solemn Judgment and Dark Bribe are for....

I've seen a lot of Dark Armed Dragon decks pairing up with Six Sam. and they seem to be doing somewhat well. The best combo's I've seen to date are control/aggressive with the control player being player A to set up the field and the aggro player being player B to attack and do the damage first...

I wonder if 2 Gb decks are allowed to tag-in a monster and bring out one from your teammate's deck

Nope....the GB monsters have to be tagged into and out of your own deck.

It can work if you plan it out very carefully of who will do what; but yeah, in most
cases, it is better for two people to run the same deck to gain card-effect bonuses.

why would you want to play a team duel then you'd have to be concerned with your partner and if there lame then your on your own,i do not like team duel's because i only rely on myself and no one else, but thats just me.

It is tag because in tag matches in every sport both players on a team take turns.

The most common guideline to a tag team decks is that both decks don't inhibit each other. Like a Zombie/Macro tag team deck wouldn't work very well.

The key word you want to work is synergy. Two decks that can work together or work well without depending on the other for support as long they don't inhibit each other.
