A little more information is needed.
I think I have an idea what might be happening, but I need to know from start to finish what you are doing and when the error shows up.
Are you using Pokesav codes?

You tried this?
Action Replay Factory Reset
1/ With the console powered off, hold A+B.
2/ Power up the console while still holding A+B.
3/ As soon as the Nintendo screen is displayed, before our screen stating this product is not endorsed by Nintendo, press and hold Start and Select while keeping hold of A+B.
4/ Continue to hold these buttons until the Main Action Replay screen is displayed, then release. Your product is reset, and will accept codes once more.

Yeah, and I usually don't use profanity/profane acronyms. =\ AR's have been known since their creation to be touchy, and sometimes will "break" for no apparent reason. Sorry. =(

My first AR didn't work I was pissed...
Datel goes for Quantity definately not Quality, its something you gotta know about the company.
Just like LL Bean is amazing in customer service, its just something they are known for.

it was on one of those answers websites (yahoo, wiki)
but it went something like this:
load the action replay rom on your flash and load it
when it gets to the main menu take out the flash card and swap it with the bricked ar
run a firmware update throught your computer
