Default Action Replay Help Thread - Pokesav Tutorial and Code List inside

DISCLAIMER: Everyone and anyone is welcome to use these codes and guidelines, which is why we made this thread. We do not encourage hacking pokemon or force you too, you make your own choice of using these cheats/hacks. Since we are not forcing you to use these codes and hacks listed below, it is at your own risk and if anything is to go wrong with your game, it is all on you. We will help you in anyway possible if a problem does occur, that is what this thread is for.

Hacking your Pokemon game is accomplished by using a device called "Action Replay."

By Grim Mouser:

Using hacks to their fullest: legally!

While hacks are generally frowned upon for Wi-Fi play, there are other uses for Pokesaved or otherwise hacked Pokemon. Here are a few of them.

1) Testing a team
By using hacks, you can test out a team at its ideal potential. Unable to get 31 Attack and Speed IV Weavile? Hack it and test it out in a match with your team. If you like it, breed or trade for it. If you don’t, you don’t lose anything. Compare this to trading for a good Weavile and then realizing you don’t want to use it. You would lose trading material. On a broader scale, you could hack an entire team and test it. This would be your “dream team” at its ideal. This gives you an idea of what should be fixed, seeing as any flaws cannot be because of IV’s.

2) Battle Tower use
Although if you have Action Replay and Pokesav you most likely will get all the items you need easily, beating down weak CPU opponents (and the occasional toughie) is very entertaining. A factor in this is that all CPU trainers in the game have Pokemon with IV’s ranging from around 29-31 in each stat. I assume this was to raise the difficulty factor of the game. But anyway, facing opponents with a fun team is a great way to try out some Pokemon and have fun at the same time. The Battle Points are icing on the cake.

3) Battling
Normally, hacks are not allowed in Wi-Fi play. However, if you ask your opponent if you can use them and they agree, you can use hacks in battle. Usually this means the Pokemon must have legal moves, abilities, and reasonable IV’s. (For example, 31 across the board is not very fair when hacked compared to 31/31/12/5/22/28.)

4) Breeding
This pushes the envelope a little, but a hacked Pokemon that abides by game rules (i.e. no 255 EV’s in each stat) are breedable. You could breed a 31 Attack and Speed Weavile like we mentioned earlier with a Pokemon you have with good defenses/HP, and you can eventually get a good IV Weavile. The luck factor still remains, but you eliminate some of the work. Again, some may call this cheating, so be rational. Remember that moral guidelines on this (and other AR uses) differ. Smogon, for instance, is opposed to breeding with hacks.

What NOT to do when hacking, and solutions if they happen

1) If you use the “Instant Breed” code, DO NOT breed one Pokemon by itself. This causes a Bad Egg, AKA Missingno.
Solution: Use Pokesav or an AR code to change Missingno to a different Pokemon. When doing this, DO NOT touch Missingno. If you do, you may be SOL. Instead, move Missingno to the first slot (or other slots, depending on what code you intend to use) by moving the OTHER Pokemon in your party. Say Missingno is in the third slot. You want it in the first. Pick up the first slot Pokemon and move it. All Pokemon slide up a space. Then pick up the new first slot Pokemon (formerly in slot two) and move it. Now Missingno is in the first slot. Activate the code, and breathe a sigh of relief.

1) When in the Wi-Fi/Union room, DO NOT use the “Walk/Run Through Anything” code. When you do, you can get stuck in the walls when exiting the room. Worse, since the game saved automatically, you are stuck.
Solution (Must be confirmed, but try to avoid the problem anyway): Use Pokesav to warp yourself out of your location. In Pokesav there is a function that allows you to move your map position in terms of X and Y coordinates. Simply change your coordinates to a familiar area and the problem should be fixed.

2) Less minor, but some codes pre-programmed into the AR (I have had this problem with item codes) give you 95 Explorer Kits in your bag’s Mail section, and do not give you the item you wanted. Since Kits are Key Items, you cannot sell or toss them.
Solution: Pokesav again saves you. Simply go to the Mail function and edit your mail. Since the game only recognizes a certain amount of items in the Mail section, you can just edit the section (say, add a Space Mail in slot one) where the Kits are. Activate the code, and the Kits are gone. Easy as pie.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Pokesav is a program that allows you to define a Pokemon exactly as you want it (right down to how happy it is and what Box it is put in) and generates an AR code to make that Pokemon on your game. The following is taken from A.S. Pumakid13's Pokesav Tutorial thread, with some corrections made by me.

What do I need to use Pokesav?

All I know is that Pokesav can run on Windows, possibly Mac?
-An Action Replay DS.
-Action Replay Code Manager loaded onto your PC.
-Pokesav, downloaded by link following.
-A Copy of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl.
-A DS to play your copy of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl.

What is Pokesav?
Pokesav is a program on the computer that allows you to generate pokemon you wish to make with any stats/movesets/natures/name/everything that is avialable on a pokemon. The information does not have to be legit for it to still operate correctly.

Jiggy Note: A poorly done hack may be problematic if you attempt to use it on Wifi or import it to Pokemon Battle Revolution. So always try to be as accurate as you can.

Where can I download Pokesav?
Follow this below:
Download Pokesav at:
1. Click Download for free at bottom of page.
2. Enter the code that appears on the screen.
3. Click Save file.
4. Open pokesav.
http://rs172.rapidshare.com/files/53...sh_version.exe

How can I learn to use Pokesav?
Here is a great tutorial from YouTube that taught me all i know.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2awrJWfiNks

What do I do after I complete the pokesav info as in the YouTube tutorial?

1. You fill out the Pokesav as you watched on the YouTube tutorial.
2. You press AR DS Code Output. The first time i pressed save instead. You are posibly doing this?
3. You click everything you edited. Pokemon party 1, party 2, etc...
4. You drag that from your desktop to the AR Code Manager.
5. It makes a new code list. called pokesav with the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl game loaded onto it.
6. You open up all that and the game inside the AR Code Manager. You see a code called 'POKESAV GENERATED'. You drag that into your other codelist with your Pokemon Diamond/Pearl cheats.
7. Copy over the codes like you do usually.
8. Run your Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Game.
9. Press L+R when your game loads and can see your player, to turn your pokes into the Pokesav Generated ones.
10. Make sure that you have as many pokemon in your party as you are trying to turn into Pokesav generated ones. I.E. You are loading 6 pokes, make sure you have 6 pokes in your party.

How come I can't see the bottom part of Pokesav?
No one can. I can't either, I don't know why...There is also no way to edit the size of the window. Sorry, you don't exactly need it that much though.

Jiggy Note: It is possible to see the bottom part of the window by adjusting your moniter resolution. Right click your desktop, click Properties, and click the Settings tab. Move the scroll bar to a higher resolution (Mine is at 1280 x 960 and I can see the whole window just fine) and click OK.

A few things that will show it to be illegit.
-Not deleting the space(s) after its name when you press Original Name.
-Leaving sections empty, such as date met/OT/ID/...
-Having a legendary pokemon have the egg section filled in.
-Putting a pokemon to arrive from "Kanto/Hoenn/Distant Land/... when the Pokemon is 4th Gen.
-Conversely, Having a 3rd Gen Pokemon like Suicune caught in Sinnoh
-Having illegal movesets.
-Having illegal ability.
-Having illegal nature/OT/ID (event pokes).

Are you having an unexplainable problem?
Datel doesn't quite go for Quality over Quantity. They go the other way around. Datel will make crappy AR's and mass producing them before they will make less quantities of good AR's and make less money. It is a corporation in the first place. My first AR was broken and wouldn't load codes.

How do I know my Secret ID?
Enter this code into your AR.
Press L + R and go to your trainer card. Your money will be equal to your secret ID.

da000000 000002e2
d6000000 000002e4
d2000000 00000000

Jiggy Note: For those that don't know, the Secret ID is apart of your Trainer ID that is kept hidden. I have heard that omitting a Pokemon's Secret ID or using an incorrect one can cause problems when trying to transfer a Pokemon over to Battle Revolution.

By Grim Mouser:

Things Pokesav cannot do

While Pokesav can do a vast amount of fuctions, there are a few actions it cannot perform. Here are a few of them.

1) Pokesav cannot give your Pokemon every ribbon. While there is a function labeled “All Ribbons,” it is missing a few of them (most notably Super Contest ribbons). You must use AR codes to obtain these.

2) Editing existing Pokemon. While in theory this is possible if you make a Pokemon identical to the one you want to edit, it is technically not possible. The created Pokmon will not be the same Pokemon, and thus would technically be hacked. Pokesav replaces Pokemon with created ones. It cannot edit. This means you cannot add edit stats, natures, abilities, genders or IVs directly.

3) Give you a Five-Star trainer card/Super Contest wins. While there is a function for “Contest Wins,” in my experience it does not work. The maximum possible card by Pokesav (assuming you have not won the Master Rank Super Contest already) is 4 stars, or the gold card. This is because Pokesav cannot give a Pokemon the Super Contest ribbon, which the game seems to use to recognize if you have won a Contest or not. AR is your solution here.

This forum [not this thread] can be used to request a Pokemon be hacked for you if you don't have access to an AR. The following is a list of the most useful things that Pokesav can edit on a Pokemon. You don't need all the information in a request, but the things needed for a bare-bones minimum are marked with an asterisk (*).

*Species
Hold Item
Nickname
Level
*Nature
Shiny [Y/N]
*Ability
*Original Trainer (OT)
*OT ID Number
Secret ID
IVs
EVs
*Attack 1 and PP
Attack 2 and PP
Attack 3 and PP
Attack 4 and PP
Condition (Beauty, Coolness, etc... scale goes from 0 to 255)
Friednship (scale of 0 to 255)
Pokerus Infected/Cured/or none (Note, according to the video a Pokemon generated by Pokesav with Pokerus will never be cured)
Pokeball caught in (Pokeball for hatched Pokemon)
Contest Wins
Ribbons

Misc.
Deoxys Form
East/West form of Shellos line
Burmy/Wormadam form
Unown shape

There are more, these are just the things I thought were most useful.

So what you do is this.
1)Activate code in AR

-In game-
1)Load up on pokes you wanna check ivs for
2)hit X for menu
3)go to Pokemon
4)click on the Poke
5)hold Start + select and click Summary...****HOLD until the menu comes up
6)the menu should resemble an egg menu...it'll only have 2 pages to it.
7)go to your TM bag

the # of TMs in your first six slots will tell you what their IVs are IN THIS ORDER

NOTE: If one or more of your TMs are deleted when using this code, that means your Pokemon has one or more IVs that are 0.

*: "For now this code is a bit 'dangerous', meaning if you don't follow the instructions the game may freeze up. Enter the PC, and -if it's not already in there- put in a box the Pokémon you wanna duplicate or put aside from your six team slots. Make sure you have at least one free slot on your pokemon team before moving on. Now go in the 'Move Pokémon' menu, press A on the Pokemon you wanna move, so the list of choices appear, and then put the cursor on 'move' (it should be there by default), press 'Select+Start' while pressing A to take the Pokémon (at the same time), and while the Pokémon is 'in your hand', press L and then R at the same time (to refresh the box) and voilŕ: your Pokémon will be duplicated (it'll be in the box, and in the hand). Not refreshing the box by moving to the box to the duplicated pokemon, dropping the Pokémon somewhere and trying to take the duplicated Pokémon WILL freeze up the game. You must return to the box with the duplicated pokemon, and it'll work. Now that the box has been refreshed you can drop the Pokémon anywhere, and repeat the process as much you want."

My Note: This is a really easy code in my opinion. So easy, I've never had my game freeze when using it, so you won't have a problem. It's one of my favorites as well, and much easier than the 2% chance on GTS cloning.

Wild Pokemon Mod + Level Mod (L+R to stock Heart Scales, hold L in Grass):

94000130 FDFF0000
B21C4D28 00000000
B0000004 00000000
94000130 FEFF0000

D7000000 00024620
DC000000 00000006
D2000000 00000000

The XX is the level of the wild pokemon (i.e. for Lv's lower than Lv10, 01 = Lv1)

My Note: All you have to do is make sure the # of Heart Scales you have is equal to the Pokemon's number on the National dex. Toss them till the number is exact and start looking in the grass.

12066CF4 000020XX (SP. ATK)
12066D0A 000020XX (SP. DEF)

Replace the "XX"s with the IV you want in HEX. For a 31 IV, use "1F".
Move Mod (Also works with Heart Scales, L+R to stock the Heart Scales):

94000130 FDFF0000
B21C4D28 00000000
B0000004 00000000

F20F850c 00000002
D2000000 00000000
00000000 00000000

The move now replaces TM 17 Protect A move which almost all Pokemon can learn instead of TM 01 Focus Punch, So you MUST have TM 17. Here's the list of moves:

What is Pokesav?
Pokesav is a program on the computer that allows you to generate pokemon you wish to make with any stats/movesets/natures/name/everything that is avialable on a pokemon. The information does not have to be legit for it to still operate correctly.
This definition is somewhat inconcise. Pokesav allows you to modify components of your game, including Pokemon. Pokemon creation is just the usual use for Pokesav, but there are many other functions.

With the discovery of a solution for this problem, you are not SOL if this happens. Change this to a simple warning and either re-post the solution or refer to the solution earlier in the post.

Also, please edit the event codes so "Press L+R" is more specific. You must press L+R as you enter a Pokemart.

Hex Values.

These values in pokesav determine whether or not the pokemon was caught in the wild, 00 says it was pal parked, hatchedor was from an event if the location says it was caught but has 00, then its hacked.

This is a list of what you put in the part that says 85h.

00 - Egg/Pal Parked/Event
02 - Tall Grass
04 - Dialga/Palkia Event
05 - Cave/Hall of Origin
07 - Water
0C - Starter/Fossil pokemon

So should you edit that as part of a routine creation process? Or is it automatic?

Yeah it's quite a good format. Hopefully this decreases some of the "problem" threads.

Its not auto, the sad thing is you have to edit it as part of a routine pokemon creating.

like you know a pokemon's hidden power varies in power and type so how do you use that part of the pokesav?

You can't AFAIK. I'd suggest going on Serebii's/Metalkid's IV calc and trying out numbers. Inefficient, but it's the best you can do.

No, just keep plugging in values into the IV calc until you get what you want.

For Fighting (and another one if you reverse everything I say, IDK which though), just make all IV's even. That gives you HP Fighting. Keep changing IV's on the calc until you get 70/whatever power you want.

Best HP Calc I've ever used.

I too have wondered what the Hidden Values (Hex) are in Pokesav.

I'll do an update to this later today.

Actually the HP power/type is defined by a certain equation, I don't recall what it is right now but it's on Serebii. Each type has a certain value, Fighting I think is 0. Even values are 0, so each IV=0 HP value=0=Fighting.

Actually, 31 across the board gives you Hidden Power: Dark 70.

Man that's useful. I'll have to remember that...

@ Matt: 31 all happens to be Dark @ 70. Useless because of Dark Pulse usually, but IDK...

EDIT: Eh, darned Jiggy beat me to it. ;]

I bet they all include some aspects that eventually, if discovered, would make a hacked Pokemon undetectable. But that would mean likely looking directly at the game's coding, so I assume the Hex Hidden Values aren't necessary for outer legit appearance.

LOL out+ward is censored, so I had to use outer...

Only problem I have with Metalkid's IV calculator is that some values always come back invalid... when there is no mistake.
