Mei-Kou Master of Barriers
Level 4
1700 atk 600 def

This card isn't bad, but the format isn't good for it. What does that mean? This card allows you to tribute it to destroy a face-up Continuous Magic or Trap card on the Field. That's a +1 for you if you destroyed your opponent's card, although you could destroy your own. The problem being, we aren't playing Continuous Magic and Trap cards this format as they are too easily destroyed.

Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: 2/5 1700 attack isn't terrible and you might get the effect once in a while.

Otaku will become famous soon enough

A decent card for a format that is hopefully in the future (and not just a delusion to keep me from quitting this game). If you were already running a Light or Spellcaster deck, then Mei-Kou would be a solid beatstick you could give up to take out an opponent's key Continuous Spell/Trap. I believe they made the effect so weak because that means it is only good in a deck that supports its Attribute and Type. After all, if it his any S/T, then it'd be worth running in most decks right now: the cousin of Breaker and Exiled Force. With these restrictions, its at most a second cousin. Probably once or twice removed.

Default Mei-Kou, Master of Barriers

You can tribute this card to basically destroy a Call of the Haunted, Level Limit Area - B, or Gravity Bind. Another card that is good against things that stall. If the Spell and Trap Destruction that we have now wasn't good then yes this would be seeing play. It has 1700 ATK which can stand up against a few things. Its Light and a Spellcaster, which means it has some good support for either type. Its defense isn't so great, but who would set a monster with a horrible defense with an effect that works when its face up. Mei-Kou, Master of Barriers is a card I believe that would have been better 3 years ago or so when not as many sets were out and it would be a card people would think about playing, but with thousands of cards in this game the lowest amounts (other than rituals) of card types are the continuous spells and traps.

When FOTB first came out the one card that I noticed above all the others was actually Mei-Kou. He has the ability to tribute himself and then destroy a face up Continuous Trap or Spell. He has his uses, but I prefer to use cards like Twister to destroy things like Gravity Bind and Royal Decree. Just like Exiled Force Mei-Kou takes up your summon for the turn, which is not always desirable. A good card that can still be useful, but I prefer others to use.

I could potentially see this card as a side deck against Burn decks....

They run Messengers, Level Limit, Wave Motion, maybe Dark Room of Nightmare, Nightmare Steelcage, Gravity Bind, Nightmare Wheel, Wall of Revealing Light, as well as maybe some others...

Summon this, call priority to tribute him to blow up a troublesome card. Easy. The S/T version of Exiled Force. And with 1700 attack it can do some decent damage as well.

But at best this is a side deck card, and with Twister, Royal Decree, Jinzo, Raiza, Mobius, Dust Tornado, Heavy Storm, and Mystical Space Typhoon still out there, even against Burn I'm not sure if this card could make it in to a side deck.

Well sorry to all that i've been gone for the majority of this week, i've been sick, a lot of school work and of course Halo 3.

Mei-Kou, Master of Barriers
Level 4
[Spellcaster /Effect]
You can Tribute this card to destroy 1 face-up Continuous Spell or Continuous Trap Card on the field.

This is a pretty decent card. I wish it was a Warrior so it would have been easier to get out when needed. This can work against Crystal Beast decks and decks that use a lot of continuous traps, like burn or other stall decks. Other than that, it has very little use. 1700 is still a decent ATK, but being a spellcaster isn't so nice with you having to draw it all the time to use it. I can see this maybe in side decks. Even more so now with Card of Safe Return in all those zombie decks. I'd rather use Twister, Dust Tornado and other removal cards than this because you have to use up a summon pretty much to use the effect well. This card could have been a lot better and probably won't see too much play unfortunately.

Traditional: 1/5 I really don't like, sure there's mirage of nightmare, but if your opponent doesn't get that MST or Emergency Provisions, Mirage won't be that good.
Advanced: 1.5/5 Has many uses, but other cards that don't require summons can be used instead and that summon can be saved for a more important use.
