You have to look at this card from a few, totally different perspectives.

1) It is a normal three star monster that is outclassed by many 1800-2000 attack normal monsters. The fact it does not have an effect means card trooper and any other effect monster with a decent effect is better than it. Thus 1/5 is an overstatement.

2) Weeny Rush decks have a new "beatstick"

3) The only reason any of us cares about this cool looking dragon is due to the fact it is a three star dragon. Cyberdark monsters have a new tourture toy which provides them the ability to trump Jinzo and Monarchs.

This is the case because Dragon's Mirror (as well as the Cyberdarks) all have an additional target to mess with.

Hunter Dragon is basically Cyberdark support that lets Cyberdarks that equip him overtake Monarchs, which is important. Therefore, 2 or 3 of it, most likely 3, are necessary in your Cyberdark deck. Other than that, there's no reason to play it because there are slightly higher 3-star Normals as is.

5/5 for the Cyberdarks and 1/5 all else, as to be expected.

Sweet picture, not the best card we have ever been given, but a 1700 attack Level 3 Vanilla Dragon does have a use, if only in the Cyberdark deck as a new bone or chew toy. It can be used as a weenie beatstick if you want, or even if you need another fair attack for a Dragon deck, but I'd stick with Cyberdark if you are using this at all.

5/5 Cyberdark
1.25/5 elsewhere

Otaku will become famous soon enough

This review assumes the September 1st 2007 Ban List. I mean, I have enough catching up to do without focusing on a format that has less than a week left of existing.

Let's break down Hunter Dragon. It is a Normal Monster. Well, there is decent support for such vanilla Monsters now, so that isn't all bad. Then again, thanks to the Gemini mechanic, I suppose it sort of is: why be "Normal" when you can fake it and still get the benefits while having access to an effect? It is a Level 3 Monster, which let's it slip under protection like Gravity Bind and Level Limit - Area B. As a Dark type Monster, its too small for Deck Devastation Virus but too large for Crush Card Virus... still learning the ropes again - was there any other Dark-Type support that gets regularly used? Well, moving on we see its a Dragon. Dragon's do have some nice support and that is going to help. The ATK is 1700. Large for its Level, but not enough to make it a good beatstick. It should be, but silly Konami keeps pushing the threshold up higher and higher. Its DEF is 0, which makes it a one shot blocker if you need it to do that.

This would be the end of it, but thankfully its combos wonderfully. The Cyberdark Monsters (other than the Fusion) boost themselves by attaching a Level 3 Dragon from the Graveyard to themselves and gaining an ATK bonus based upon the equipped Monster's ATK. Hunter Dragon is larger than any Level 3 Dragons I am aware of, and now the Cyberdark Monsters can get pretty big: 2500 ATK, enough to dwarf a Monarch.

Default Hunter Dragon

The newest 3 Star Normal Monster to hit the block. Just like everyone else is saying this is mostly going to be used in Cyberdark Decks. It has 3 stars to get under Level Limit Area - B and Gravity Bind. While still being able to attack it can get most things except GK Spy's or attack mode tribute monsters.

1700 ATK can boost a Cyberdark Monster up to 2500 making it stronger than any Monarch, Jinzo, and even Dark Ruler Ha Des. If you just have this on the field it can not beat that little kid's Jerry Beans Man.

It is a Dragon monster so you could use stamping destruction for added Spell/Trap Destruction. It will also be protected if you would have a Lord of D. on the field.

Hunter Dragon is also normal so we get some support in that department with Justi-Break and etc. Its defense isnt that good either so usually Hunter Dragon will stay in attack mode.

Hunter Dragon
Level 3

Cyberdark Decks were waiting for this card for a while, and many made builds and then we all forgot about it when Cyberdark Impact! was made into a secret rare. Bummer it was. Now let's take a look at this card. 1700 Dark 3 Star Dragon will make Keel, Horn and Edge all 2500, Making them be able to be used for such cards like Deck Devastation Virus and Eradicator Epidemic Virus. This card is really good to set up these monsters and the Cyberdark Deck. Easily gotten into the Graveyard by battle and even Future Fusion for Five Headed Dragon. This card make Cyberdark Decks viable, keep on the lookout for this card as it can make a huge impact as more Tactical Evolution packs are opened and more Cyberdark Impact!s are then used.

Traditional: 1/5 Cyberdark isn't really that good here.
Advanced: 3.5/5 Makes Cyberdark Decks good and another decent monster for any dragon deck.
