Odion is better than Marik
What is the deal with that? Marik was going to lose to Joey but Joey passed out , while Odion was going to beat Joey either with Selket or Ra but didnt get up quick enough! That means Odion can beat Marik! :eek:and I hate to say that because Yami Marik is my favorite character! :D

And the only reason that Odion lost was because Malak told him to use Ra.

Better than Marik? Well, maybe. I personally liked the duel with Joey and Odion more than Joey and Marik. Even though the dub is famous for repeating lines over and over in one duel, Joey's and Odion's was tolerable.
Odion: Sure, Odion did talk quite a bit, and even had a flashback in his duel, he wasn't about repeating the same lines over and over again. An all magic and trap deck sounds quite interesting. Too bad it's difficult to pull off in the real world.
Marik: "Prepare to be consumed by the shadows! Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!" Now, repeat that line over in over in the same duel. Dang, I can imagine what it will be like between him and Yugi.

Jounouchi: Something in my head tells me I'm gonna win this Duel.
Rishid: Uh... you have no cards on your side of the field and you have 300 Life Points and I got a Monster that has over 3000 ATK on my side of the field.
Jounouchi: I'll win this Duel because my friends and my sister have faith in me!
Rishid: Yeah whatever. Selket attack. You lose.

You know, Skelator would make a great Yugioh villain. It would have been pretty cool to see a Risheed vs. Malik duel in one of the episodes. Unfortunately, there are too many games during the finals anyway.

"the story was just made for joey to lose everytime."
No kidding. The story is what makes Jounouchi, Malik, and Rishid all exist. Saying "oh, it's not true, because they 'changed the story' so he'd lose" makes no freaking sense. That's what makes the characters exist in the first place. Rishid > Jounouchi, it's the truth. Nothing was "changed." It's not like these people exist and the "story" is some evil force that changed the future. Sorry, idiot.

I would have prefered it this way:
1 Odeon/Rishid loses to Joey (As seen on TV)
2 Yami Marik appears and takes control of his weaker self (As seen on TV)
3 Odeon/Rishid wakes up with enough energy to challenges Yami Marik to a duel so he could "save" normal marik.
4 Yami Marik wins and gave him a game punishment/sent to the shadow realm.
5 Odeon/Rishid goes to coma.
I like it better this way, than just going from 2-5, besides Odeon/Rishid is physically/mentally stronger than Joey, but still, joey survived pretty well when he was hit by lightning, but Odeon/Rishid just went straight into a coma/unconscious.

Well, that was probably because Odion was the one who used the fake Ra, so he probably got more of the blast than Joey did.

Rishid vs Dark Malik would be impossible. Know why?
Because the second Rishid would arrive, Dark Malik would disappear, since Rishid is what keeps him in check. That means no duel.
And, since we don't know what kind of a duelist 'Normal' Malik is like, it's impossible to determine what the outcome of a duel between him and Rishid would be like. But if Rishid and Malik DID duel, hypothetically, and Malik had some good dueling skills, then Malik would win, because Rishid would never deafeat his master, and friend, and would probably just not give it his all and hold back his punches, so to speak.

well it's quite silly to determine a duelist's acapabilities over who beat Joey/should have beaten Joey/beat Joey more fairly. Cause no offense to Joey fans, but I don't really seem him as all that great of a duelist. Of course that's simply my opinion. Also I believe that Rishid/Odion is a better duelist then Malik/Marik...but that's also my opinion. We never will know unless they duel and that's probably not going to happen.

Rishid/Odion's true skill has never been measured. He was clearly superior to Joey in their duel by an even wider margin than Seto had beaten Joey with in their upcoming duel.
Is Odion better than Malik? Maybe, Malik's dueling skills have never been put to a true test.
Is Odion better than Yami Malik? Absolutely... but so are Joey, Mai, Bakura, Yugi, and Pharaoh... and Seto.

--In just a normal duel, there's no reason to believe he would hold back. Malik and Rishid don't just start up Games of Darkness you know, that's a Yami Malik thing. He would obviously want to give it all he's got so that Malik can become better. We don't even know what kind of deck the normal Malik would run.

Our only glance into Malik deck style is looking at the major Ghouls aside from Rare Hunter and Pandora. Pantomime is the closest thing we could see to Maliks.
Jonouchi is the third best real duelist there is, but our standards. Only Seto Kaiba and Yami Bakura is better.
Rishid is not better than Jonouchi. Rishid is only slight worse then Jonouchi. He is another person that relies on overly broken cards to win.

Story Time!
OK, I'll write up a hypothetical duel between Odion and Marik.
Odion vs. Yami Marik
Announcer: Having been screwed by a cheap effect in the finals, we have Yami Marik, facing a man who was cheated out a place in the semi-finals, Odion!
Crowd: (Cheering)
Yami Marik (Now referred to as YM): You once were able to hold me back you fool, but not any more! I'm turning this into a shadow game, where we feel the monster's pain, and our bodies are consumed by the shadows as we lose lifepoints.
Odion (Now known as O): I will save Master Marik, no matter what the cost.
Both: Let's duel!
Odion: I'll set one card facedown, and end my turn.
YM: First off, I'll set two cards facedown, and summon Drillago in attack mode.
O: I'll play the field magic card, Royal Sanctuary! This limits the number of M/T cards you can play. Next, I'll set two cards facedown, and end my turn.
YM: My move, fool! I place one card facedown, and summon Newdoria in defense mode! Drillago, attack his lifepoints directly!
O: Hold on, I activate my trap card, Sakuretsu Armor!
YM: Oh no!
O: That's right, say good-bye to your Drillago!
(Drillago explodes into a thousand pieces)
YM: Arrghh! Grrr, go, you fool!
O: I play the magic card, Pot of Greed! Next, I'll set one facedown, and end my turn.
YM: Fool, I summon Lekunga, in defense mode. Go fool.
O: I set two facedown, and end my turn.
YM: I play Premature Burial, and bring back Drillago. Next, I sacrifice Lekunga to summon Legendary Fiend! Legendary Fiend, attack his lifepoints directly!
O: Hold on, I activate Dust Tornado, destroying Premature Burial. Next, I activate Eye of Ujat, redirecting your attack to your Newdoria.
YM: No!
(Newdoria is obliterated, and YM's lifepoints drop to 3200, his arm disappearing in the process)
O: Not only that, your attack activated Newdoria's effect! Who do you destroy?
YM: Grr, begone Lekunga!
O: Not only that, your attack activated my Avatar of Apophis trap cards!
(Three Avatars appear on the field)
YM: Oh, no!
O: that's right! Now, I'll set two facedown, and attack your lifepoints directly!
YM: ha ha ha ha! You fool, I activate Wall of Dark Wind! Your attack was useless
O: I will save you Master Marik.
YM: My move. I play the magic card: Card of Sanctity! Both of us draw until we have six cards in our hand. Now I'll set one monster face-down, and end my turn.
O: I will save you master Marik. Apophis's, attack!
YM: Hold on fool, I activate Nightmare Mirror! You take one thousand damage now!
O: I activate 7 Tools of the Bandit, negating your card, and forcing you to discard a card from your hand.
YM (Thinking): I have the Winged Dragon of Ra in my hand. I'll discard it, then revive it with Monster Reborn. Now, as soon as I draw it, this fool will be doomed!)
YM: I'll discard this one. But you lose one thousand lifepoints any way fool.
O: But you lose!
YM: You've attacked Plasma Eel, and due to its special effect, I'm still here you fool! Ha ha ha ha!
O: Oh no!
(O = 3000, YM = 3200)
Odion's arm is gone now too.
O: I'll set one facedown, and end my turn.
YM: My move. I'll place one card facedown, and summon Dark Jeroid in attack mode. I'll weaken one of your Avatar's now. Next, Plasma Eel, weaken another Avatar!
O: Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!
YM: Next I'll have Dark Jeroid attack. Go! Destroy the Avatar you weakened!
O: Oh, no!
YM: That's right. Feel your monster being destroyed!
O: Arrgghhh!
(O = 2600, YM = 3200)
Odion's chest is disappearing now.
YM: Did you enjoy that fool? I'll end my turn.
O: I'll activate my Trap card: Mobile Fortress Stronghold. Next, I'll set one facedown, and attack your Jeroid with my unharmed Avatar. Go, obliterate his Jeroid!
YM: Activate Trap: Monster Relief! And I choose Dark Jeroid, and then I bring it back! Weakening your only strong Avatar!
O: Oh no!
YM: Now you will feel your monster's pain, fool!
O: Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!
YM: Now that your attack has failed, I'll set one card facedown, and attack your Avatar with Dark Jeroid!
O: Activate Mirror Force, destroying all of your monsters!
YM: Grrr, I summon Lava Golem to your side of the field, offering two of your Traps for it
O: Thanks, I was hoping you would destroy my Avatar and Stronghold.
YM: What?
O: I activate Cup of Sealed Soul and Seal of Serket! Now, come forth my mighty beast!
The might Beast of Serket appears on Odion's side of the field.
O: Now, attack his lifepoints directly!
YM: Activate trap cards: Coffin Seller and Unholy Calamity!
O: No!
YM: That's right, you lose 1200 lifepoints now.
(O = 1400, YM = 3200)
O: I'll set two, and end my turn.
YM: Now, I'll activate the Trap Card: Trade Your Left Arm! By discarding my hand, I can get one card from my deck. And I choose Monster Reborn!
O: Oh no!
YM: That's right, and I activate it, reviving the Winged Dragon of Ra!
O: Activate Magic Jammer!
YM: No!
O: Now, I can rescue Master Marik. Activate facedown card: Monster Reborn. And I'll revive Mystical Beast of Serket!
YM: Oh no!
O: That's right! Come forth, Beast of Serket! Attack his lifepoints directly!
YM: Aaaahhhhh
(O = 1400, YM = 700)
YM: Ha ha ha ha ha! I activate Zombie's Jewel, getting your Monster Reborn!
O: No!
YM: Draw your last card, and let me finish you!
O: Perfect. I'll set this facedown, and end my turn.
YM: I summon Gyondora, in attack mode, giving me 1000 Lifepoints. Next, I play Monster Reborn-
(O = 1400, YM = 1700)
O: Activate Imperial Order!
YM: What!?
O: That's right!
YM: No you fool!
O: That's right. Mystical Beast of Serket, obliterate Gyondora and finish off Dark Marik!
YM: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
The shadows consume him, leaving normal Marik behind.
Marik (Now M): Thanks for saving me Odion.
O: It was my duty Master Marik. Let's go home.
M: OK.
Crowd: (Cheers, then goes Awwwww).
What do you guys think?

Actually, we do know what kind of duelist 'Normal' Malik is. In the Jonouchi vs. Yugi duel, Malik had full possession over Jonouchi. 95% of Jonouchi's moves were Malik's.
Therefore, we know what kind of duelist 'Malik' is.

I'd bet that non-Yami Marik runs either burn, (What he used both with and against Joey) or a combination of the best cards used by the Rare Hunters. IE-what he used against Mai (Marik's usual deck before Y. Marik changed it for his duel against Y. Bakura)

Since not every duelist has "Heart of the Cards" as an integral part of their strategy, dueling often depends on luck. Since Odion/Rishid had no way of knowing that fake Ra would knock the competitors out, he would've won. Of course, he would've won with his opponent-eating scorpion Selket, too, but we all know about Marik/Malik's Ra fixation.
Also, Odion/Rishid(Pick one or the other already! It's not hard! No!) would have won by standing up before Jou(his original name is too long and has too many spellings) did after the lightning show. He started to, but I suspect Y.Marik/Malik(No! I can't decide which name!), strong from being semi-dormant, overpowered him and knocked his strength out.
I'm still not sure just how Jou's dream helped him up, my suspicions are nebulous. Dreams are/can be important, but he never struck me as a sleepwalker...
And now, a random quote from Alta!(Completely unrelated)

To be honest, I think Marik just underestimated joey the whole duel. To put it bluntly, Joey is a sucky duelist who seemingly always wins by gamble or chance cards. Then again yugi isn't great either, he just has his lucky stacking errr top decking ability.

Those weren't his cards though. They were Jyonouchi's with a couple of banned cards thrown in, so it's kind of hard to determine a duelist's skill from someone else's deck. Also, Malik didn't have full control of him in that duel. He just sort of nudged Jyonouchi in the right direction with a little, "Kill him... kill him..." and watched from behind the curtain, taking over his mouth to talk to Yuugi every now and then. The only move that Malik made was activating Death Meteor, and anybody can do that.
We don't even know what his deck is like other than his duel with Mai because Dark Malik altered it with cards he just so happened to be carrying on him after that (but hey... he had an extra pair of pants, a reversable shirt, and a cape on the blimp with him, so it's no surprise). You might say that Pantomime's deck was Malik's... but it was more like a kind of side-deck he had for Osiris, since his main card was Ra.
