Money = Wins?
Hi. I'm a guy without too big of a budget who's wondering whether or not to start The Spoils. I've played games like Yugioh and Magic, but good decks in those games requires lots of money (especially in Yugioh where you can practically set a price minimum on competitive decks).
How is the Spoils in this regard? Are the competitive decks only for those who can dish out the cash for rare cards, or can a few rares and mostly commons/uncommons make a great competitive deck?

Skill = Win
Money = Win easier in Constructed
In IQ's there is no difference in points for contructed/sealed so you don't need a lot of money to play.
In constructed the essentials for factions
4x

Heist Planner: 15 per
Pluck: 15 per

It is not that costly. And these are off the top of my head. This are the main 2 threshold or less cards, for the most part.

If you're on eBay, you can get common and uncommon play sets for less than the cost of 5 packs.
There are 2-3 The Spoils dealers on ebay that will sell rares in multiples of 3 or 4 and the only ones that go for "big $" is Heist Planner ($10), Pluck($7-8), One-Legged Hopping Pogo-Bear ($5-7), Menacing Mauler ($4-5). The rest are all very inexpensive compared to Collectible Card Games. Remember this is a Tournament Card Game, so it doesn't cater to high cost super-mega-whoop'd'doo cards.

Spoils
Well I'm fairly new to this game, but I've been looking a lot into it lately.
The prize itself looks quite inviting, but the game seems to be revolving around towards drafts/sealed currently. I perferrably would like to see more constructed, but maybe that's because there's only 2 sets out right now.
As for expenses, this game is a lot cheaper to get into than say Yu-gi-oh. If your looking to make a nice constructed deck you should be expecting anywhere between $40 - $70.... (Where as Yu-gi-oh you'd have to search deep into your pockets for the valuable cards -.-')

What most competitive players that I know do is that they build up collections from playing Limited, and never spend a cent on cards that aren't used to play Limited.

Yeah, lots of people do that. In limited everyone's equal (in a matter of speaking) and you should be able to get the cards & tournament entry for less than full retail of the cards. Trade off what you don't want to build yor constructed deck(s) and you're set.
