Default How much does "Swords Dance" increase Attack?

I always wondered this so i figured i should ask here..

I know there are 6 "Levels" you can increase your stats by, so 6 Calm minds would make your S atk and S def at their max, and 3 Agilities or SD's would max out speed or attack. But how exactly does this work? Does it go by a percentage of the stat you're increasing, like every Swords Dance would count as a 20% increase to the stat? Or is there a set number, like 1 Calm Mind would consider S atk to be 10 points higher or something?

Exclamation

When a stat is increased through moves like Bulk Up or Calm Mind the stat is increased by 1.5. When a stat is "sharply" increased it doubles your base attack stat.

Hope that helps.

I asked this question initially as well. Think of it as this, when a move normally increases a stat, it increases it by +1. When it is sharply increased, it is increased by +2. Each stat can be increased by up to +6 with the following increases:

+1 : 1.5 * stat (or 3/2)
+2 : 2 * stat (or 4/2)
+3: 2.5 * stat (or 5/2)
+4: 3 * stat (or 6/2)
+5: 3.5 * stat (or 7/2)
+6: 4 * stat (or 8/2)

Conversly, when a stat is lowered, you take the reciprocal (sp) of the fraction (based on how badly the stat was lowered, i.e. -1, -2...) and multiply it by the stat.

originally i never used moves like calm mind or swords dance because they never seemed to help much, but after sweeping Drake and Wallace with a level 39 Gardevoire i changed my mind ^_^

wow so a swords dance doubles your base ATK stat, thats pretty nuts.

Yup, swords dance doubles attack. On a Groudon, any hit becomes a OHKO after a swords dance (with the right moveset and EV's of course).

Just like you, i never used stat increasing moves and I rarely used status inducing moves. In fact, I still kinda do that in-game. But when you battle competitively, it's a different story.

I just started using Swords Dance, Calm Mind, Dragon Dance... all those moves... I just started using them when I FIRST got NetBattle. Before, they didn't seem to do much... now, I realize that they KILL.

its kinda like in final fantasy, you never bother using Blind or Silence on random monsters in the forest when you can kill them in one hit, but against bosses, those spells seem vital. [but unlike in pokemon final fantasy never lets you give status abnormalities to bosses -_-]

Hmm, I have never and STILL don't use those moves. I shall now experiemtn with them and see for myself.

Oh, and in FF, I NEVER use Silence/Blind/Frog. I stick to the Death/Pertrification/Haste/Slow Spells more. Of course we ALL know that Death never works on Bosses

Although some bosses die from Pheonix Downs and such...

I'm going totally off-subject. Sorry...

Trust me, stat increasing moves really do work well. The reason that people didn't use those moves often is because they could usually OHKO the stupid AI's WEAK pokemon. Netbattle is different because the people essentially LIVE to battle and they have strong PKMN.

I'm not just an in-game battler, but I don't do the whole Netbattle thing either. Too many snobbish players calling everyone n00bs and what-not. It's annoying...especially because my life doesn't revolve around Pokemon.

I just don't use them because I don't use stat increasing. Unless it's just a Ninjask BPer. That's about as far as I ever went. Lol

I play NB a lot, but yeah... too many jerks. I'm really tired of the people who call your pokemon "Regip***y" just because it's using Psych Up against a Gardevoir... but whatever. It's not the point of the game, so it's not going to take me away from it.

It's just a game, why can't some players see that?

The thing is, for those "intense" players, NB seems to be a "way of life". Kinda sad, but whatever.

I play very competitively, but still just for fun.

Guess I'm lucky.

Lucky...I'm talking about players who once you mess up their strategy (i.e. CBed Metagross Explosion on their "infamous" Baton Passed "beast") they whine and just forfeit.

Okay, I've played against people like that.

I've just never seen people who are all "OMG NOOB", "PREDICT BETTER SCRUB!", etc etc.

I haven't encountered many people like that. Fortunately, the ones I have seen, it was when I was observing battles. So when they challenged me, I did outpredict them.

[Oh no, am I becoming one of those obsessed guys too??????????]
