Mana burn?
What in the world is mana burn? I've heard of it so often, but noone has told me what it does.

If you have leftover mana in your mana pool at the end of the phase, all that mana disappears, and you lose 1 life for each mana that is lost this way.

When you tap a land, you get mana. The mana you don't use 'burns' you.

Mana burn is helpful when it's your turn, you have one hp left and your opponent will beat you on his next turn. Simply mana burn yourself and he didn't beat you...

arcoverseer - I wish I could reach over the internet and smack your stupid ass. That's the dumbest <pojo_ownz><pojo_ownz><pojo_ownz><pojo_ownz> I've ever heard. If you burn yourself to death he did beat you. Be a good sport about it and scoop. Don't be an ass. *Rolls Eyes*

Oh yeah, scooping is just so much better than that, jeeze you guys. Play the game, whats the point of playing a game that you never finish. Tell me, whats one good reason to scoop outside of tournaments.

Becuase you're playing an arrogant ass who likes to flaunt his final move, dragging it out with agonizing slowness, and pulling all the uneeded BS he can before his Shelkin Brownie pushes through for that last point.
Besides, if you can't win, scooping just means that it's sooner you get to play again.....no point in prolonging the inevitable right?

Wouldn't you scoop if you're in a constant Mindslaver lock...and someone is beating you to death with a Bottle Gnome?

There's lots of reasons to scoop, I just don't like it when people scoop when they still actually have a chance to turn it around... ie. I have 4 creatures on the board, my opponent has 6 plains and 10 life left. It's not like he can't topdeck something good... Wrath of God, Wing Shards, Akroma's Vengeance etc.

Ugh, that sucks.
Or, if you playing against March of the Machines and your opponent casts Mycosynth Lattice, you have a clear board, and no lands, any lands you play die, any 0 cost artifacts die.....you scoop, your oppoent already won.
