Team Virginia

Figured I'd do a little something on my team. We're Team Virginia, so named because the reason for the formation of this team was to best represent Virginia's duelists. as far as team organization is concerned we don't have any, being somewhat lacking in the team mentality. we are however a team in the spirit of wanting to show the best duelists Virginia has to offer. For these reasons, we have a number of members and are probably the largest team out there. Let's meet the members.

Sean Castor: Yours truly. I started DM about two years ago, around the time Evo Crushinators of Doom was a new set. At the time I was deep into Yugioh and Pokemon and didn't think I could afford another game. When a dare got me involved in the game, I dropped both Pokemon and Yugioh to play. I entered the Duel Masters scene using a Jack Viper recurring darkness deck that earned me first place in my first 5 civilizations tournament. since then I have only failed to make top 4 twice, one of those times I was playing a jank deck for the sake of experimentation, so I don't really consider that one a loss. My policy is that if I didn't make top 4, then I know I'm slipping and need to to better. Currently I'm running RUBY Phal Control.

Amber Castor: My younger sister. She started playing mere weeks after I did. for the most part she now runs RUB with a holy awe splash. A poor loser though, who likes to take out her frustrations on me. *Cries*

James Lloyd: One of our newer players as far as it goes, but incredibly talented. He hadn't been playing the game long before he became a major source of intense competition. He likes to boast and narrate his moves (like inYugioh, lol), but in spite of these shortcomings he's a really topnotch duelist. Currently running RUBY with a ton of draw power. He likes to swarm his opponent with his options.

Carl Miciotto: Our local rush expert. He forgoes the RUB archetype for things such as RUG or varying forms of rush. He despizes darkness hand control and refuses to play it. He plays rush rather well and doesn't have any of the sportsmanship flaws the two above have. A good friend and a relentless player.

Christian Van Hoose: Christian's dueling success can be determined by a coin flip, heads being excellent and tails being poor. The reason why I say this is because even though he always plays the same deck, a model of James's, his successes vary between the extremes from week to week. Some days he wins the whole tournament, and sometimes he doesn't even top 4. Lady Luck has a firm hold on the strings to his success, but watch out if you catch him on a good day.

Ronald McCutcheon: That's his real name, but call him Ronald to his face and he's likely to hit you. A close friend of mine, Ronny doesn't play all that often, but I keep him informed of what the game is looking like and he uses that info very efficiently. Running RUBY Phal Control , he is one of my greatest sources of competition when I play in Portsmouth.

We also have Honorary members who have the spirit, but just don't quite have the essence of the team. They do however, deserve their spots for their own reasons.

Sandra Van Hoose: Christians mother. She's also the Virginia Beach tournament organizer. Although she doesn't get to play all that often, she is an incredible source of inspiration. She takes her own time to advertise and promote the game, which has greatly helped the environment overall. Duel Masters in Virginia owes a lot to her.

Steve: Don't know his last name. He's Portsmouth's Tournament organizer. After I recently got him interested in Duel Masters, Steve has been successful in taking the Magic players of Portsmouth, who were dishing out some serious hate on Duel masters, and converting a sizable number of them into Duel Masters players. Each of these players also came to the game with their Magic experience, making them very good very quickly. A lot of the Duel Masters environment in Virginia is also owed to Steve.

Michael McCarthy: Christian's dad. I put him here because win or lose, he always leaves the table with a smile on his face. You will not find a better sportsman ever in the game of Duel Masters. He never gets upset, never gets disappointed, never gets anxious or worried. He just plays to have fun to the very purest. I admire him greatly for it.

Eric Mullen: The only reason why he isn't with the main team is because currently he has no deck. XD He is skilled in Magic and Yugioh and started showing interest in Duel Masters about two months ago. His magic experience makes him pretty good. and since he played Duel Masters even when the other Magic players were still making fun of it, that also entitles him to be a member of Team Virginia. Me and Ronny are working hard to have him a good deck by the CCs because he has also earned an invite and will be competing.

i went to portsmouth for the epic dragons pre-release and 5-civ tourney....i think i was #5 that time...any way, i think i know who you are, so pm me and well find out!

Nice team, Pogi. Just read about all of these players and I can only imagine how it would be like. Anyway, just stopped by to wish you all luck at the CCs! You will need it.

Yeah its true that my strength varies, but i wouldnt say it was because of luck. Mostly when I lose, its because
A- I tried a really ******ed tech and it didnt help whatsoever.
or
B- Someone ELSE tried ******ed tech and it actually worked
or
C- half the people I played played rush decks, and as we all know, RUBY hates rush.

Those happen often, especially the third one.
Yeah and its true I play a model of James deck but you cant call me a copier(Im not saying that you were or anything) because Pogi also does, as well as Nyone worth his salt somewhere else..and james moved on already..

But yes, Were gonna storm CCs!Watch out, VA is back with a vengeance!!!!

Actually Christian, My version of RUBY was different from his for a number of reasons.

1. I did not play Mist Rias.
2. I played Tajimal, which he didn't last I checked.
3. I play less hand control than he did.
4. I play less draw than he did.
5. My deck is much smaller than his was.

Basically, I cut out all the dead wood that James plays and put in cards that are a bit more useful. My version of RUBY. And the reason i attest your standings to luck mostly is because there will ALWAYS be tech, dude. and one can never really tell how one would place. The standard top 4 is usually me, James, Carl, and one other person that changes from week to week. Sometimes that's you, sometimes that's not. Sometimes you storm the tournament to take 1st, sometimes you come almost dead last. I have never seen anyone with a wider range of tournament placings than you, which is why I attributed it to luck.

And about the CC's, your mom told me you weren't going. Something to do with Band or something like that.

No im going..im out of school on the 18th.I had a band field trip two weeks ago i believe, maybe thats what she was talking about.
Oh, i run what james ran not for the sake of copying but because it was good.I changed out anything that wasnt working for me, for instance i took out all my pyros.

lol like one of the 1st times ive ever posted on this site. Im James Lloyd (RUBY, 2nd in Va as of right now) as of right now i dont have my great RUBY running right now because im testing a different deck out. My Banana Bombazar (F/N/L Bomba =) ) yall should see my RUBY come back but i need to test this new deck out to see how powerful is truely is. contis are so close. so pogi and corile i want yall to play your toughest this saturday. And i might be able to make it to the contis.... but i dont know. Just so every1 should know most of Team Virginia is in my team "The Crew"

corile sadly i dont think i can..... I only have my grandma to take me and sure she takes me to comic chest but south carolina will be too far for her.. =(. Ive been waitn for ccs but unfortunately i dont think i can make it unless a miracle happens. sux if the banana bombazar deck works and cant test it out at ccs....................

I saw the decklist you posted for it over at the Kaijudo Domain and I must admit, I'm a bit skeptical if it will work. You need the monster support, which you really don't have a lot of. Granted the Gontas will be a pain, but then they always have been. You're also lacking the mana production that allows a bombaz deck to drop on the fifth turn and win. Remember when I did that to you? All you have is BAT and a few Rainbow Stone. I've come to find that the best bet of handling Bombaz decks is to rush them and you're anti rush yellow seems a bit too sparce to do the job properly.

And This saturday I'll be at Atlantis Comics for a sanctioned tourny. sorry dudes. :P

pogi y do u critisize my deck. i beat ur bomba with my red.blue rush 2-1 ...when i playtested against my bomba, with the bollys and other monsters. it went 10 games without losing. bolly+bomba owns up n00bies.
