Masitcore Reborn?!?!
If anyone else has seen the Fifth Dawn boxes and such on the front page, the one thing has a picture that apears to be a close relation to Masticore. Wow, the pain Masticore delivered comes back?
One or two things can happen:
It could be a different card, possibly worse. Maybe better (HIGHLY doubtful though).
Or, it could be a re-print. Hey, it happened with Atog in Mirroden.
I really hope it's a new one. I don't want to see the nightmare from first one come back again. But hey, it could have a positive side if it's the same. It could put the Ravager back in it's place
So, what's everyone’s thoughts.

Let us, please not forget for a second that Masticore was last seen in a set that did not have the sheer volume of artifact relation and H-A-T-E that is currently seen.
I mean seriously, how many answers are there now for a creature like that? Alot, and its still gonna be taking second fiddle to the likes of Ravager and Skullclamp.
Whatever it is, it is just another example that Magic is keeping a high standard of the level of artwork they accept for their cards. Well done.

I know theres a lot of Anti-Masticore options out there, but there's also ways to protect them. That's what scares me.

I bet it's a reprint. Seems like the thing wizards would do to raise popularity for fifth dawn
although i'm dissapointed because all the card art from that pic on the main page all looked like beasts from legions or scourge
I thought this was a plane of machines, not krosan wolverens or wahtever

It's most likely a re-print with better art that's all. Well I hope so. It would be nice to see masticore again.

Zhouman003, it is a plane of machines, BUT there are still a lot of non-mettalic beings on Mirroden. I never even read the book and I know this. Just look at Glissa Sunseeker. Elf. And the Goblins. Goblins.

If Masticore is released in Fifth Dawn, Mirrodin Limited will never be the same again. This is a bomb on a level much superior to anything else in draft (well, maybe the occasional hard cast Darksteel Colossus is better...).
As for constructed... Goblins will have a tough time, Affinity probably will take it like a man, Elves are 100% dead, and WW is 100% dead.
That would be pretty much it.
@Spartan4life: Not only Atog was reprinted in Mirrodin. This was the case with a lot of other cards: Terror, Ornithopter, Cathodion, Triskelion, and I don't remember much more, but there are. Pentavus was some sort of new take on Tetravus from Antiquities as well.

Don't assume Elves are 100% gone.
Any elf deck has some kind of gameplan for sharpshooter.
It's the sharpshooter from hell, but its a concept of the same vein.
There's one extra thing elves have in their favor, they're one of the few creature types that can have protected creatures. Masticore will have a hard time killing what it can't touch.
Lastly, green decks can pack 16-20 artifact hate spells... the masticore player will tap out eventually...hopefully...

Broodstar: I was just giving a example. I coulda just made a list. And There was another Pentavus-like card, Thopter Squadron.
x0x shadowspell x0x: Elves are weak BUT are excellent in swarms because of their effects mostly help eachother, like white. But masticore would probobly just pick them off.

dont look if you dont want to see
here is the new masticore
Razormane Masticore
Artifact Creature
First strike
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Razormane Masticore unless you discard a card from your hand.
At the beginning of your draw step, you may have Razormane Masticore deal 3 damage to target creature.
5/5

It's 5, which is still decent. I'd rather have 4 for a 4/4, though ^_^
