Default Flip up special summons?

Today me and some of my dueling friends had a bit of a dispute on some of the new rulings. One said that any specially summoned monster could be flipped up on the same turn. Two examples were given:

1. Cyber Jar can be flipped up, you can receive a Magician of Faith, have it special summoned face down and then you can immediately flip it up because it was special summoned.

2. Shallow Grave allows you to take any monster and special summon it face down on the field. With the new ruling, you can then immediately flip it face up due to it being a special summon.

What is the official ruling on these issues? Thanks.

Any monster that is summoned by the turn player CANNOT have its position manually changed that turn.

In the Cyber Jar example, if you flip summon YOUR Cyber Jar and both you and your opponent get a MoF, and you use Mind Control on your opponents MoF, you may then Flip Summon it, but not yours.

Same with the Shallow Grave example. If you can take control of your opponents monster, you can flip summon it, but not your own, no matter what.

from the judges site

1. A "manual" change. This is when you use your once-per-turn battle position
change on a monster, during your Main Phase 1 or 2, to change it from attack
position to defense position or vice versa. This includes a Flip Summon. There
are some restrictions on when you can do this (see below).

2. A change because of a card effect. Examples: “Enemy Controller”, “Zero
Gravity”, “Guardian Sphinx”, “Book of Moon” and “Tsukuyomi”.

A “manual” change can only be performed during your Main Phase 1 or 2. There are
3 exceptions that will prevent you from “manually” changing a monster’s battle
position:
Exception #1: You cannot “manually” change the battle position of a monster if it
declared an attack that turn (even if the attack was negated or a replay occurred).

You CAN change the battle position of a monster “manually” if it was Summoned or
Set, but not by the turn player. Example: “Cyber Jar” Summons a monster on the
opponent’s side of the field, and the turn player uses “Change of Heart” to take
control of it, then Flip Summons it that same turn. This is a legal play (as long
as none of the 3 exceptions exist).

Hope that helps

Just because it’s a Special Summon doesn’t make it any more privileged than anything else. It was still summoned this turn, so its battle position cannot be changed.
