POA, Goblet UPDATES
Hey! Great news from the world of Warner Bros! Goblet of Fire is in full swing!
Emma Watson has recently confirmed in an interview that she is committed to Goblet of Fire. While it's pretty much been known the Big 3 were going to appear in the 4th JK installment, this is the first confirmation from any member of the Harry Potter cast outside of Daniel Radcliffe himself. Here's the link.

Daniel Radcliffe, in an interview of his own has spoken positively of doing a 5th movie. Production of Harry Potter 4 is moving swiftly, so time might catch up on the Big 3, which should answer the critics who assume the children will be too old. In reality, Daniel, Emma, and Rupert are barely 14 years old each, which is only a year ahead of the 13 years they are supposed to be aged in PoA.
As for the movie Goblet of Fire itself, things are in full swing. The new director is already casting. In an interview this week with LA Times' Calendar staff, he related how he was having a tough time casting for Madame Maxine and was searching Europe for big women even today.
So, that's it for now, but things are shaping to be really exciting. Access Hollywood listed Prizoner of Azkaban to be one of the top 5 movies of 2004, and that's big news when movies like Spiderman 2, Troy, Oliver Stone, Hidalgo, and Collateral, among others, are arriving this year. Everyone cross your fingers for a Book 6 release date before 2005!
UPDATE
For all you critics, bad news: Prisoner of Azkaban will be the shortest of the three Harry Potter movies to date at only 2 and half hours long. "This time, Rowling's story lent itself to a tighter script than the first two flicks, Cuaron told The Associated Press. 'I'm sure that somebody is going to miss something very specific that was ingrained in his or her mind when they read the book. But I think fans are going to love the movie,' Cuaron said." So, that almost answers the question many people have been asking concerning the quidditch matches - there probably won't be much. We already know Cho isn't represented in the 3rd flick (thank God)

Neat, I enjoyed the movies. Their not identical representations of the books, but they do their job well.

eh..
I don't think 2 and a half hours is short...But that's just me
I am getting ready for the 3rd film, and I can't wait. I just did a paper on Cuaron for my Spanish class, and he's done some great movies in the past. I hope this one is a keeper.
And I'm also gearing up for the 6th book, which I expect to be released in Summer/Fall '05.

Oh My God!
I don't think 2 1/2 hours is short aswell. Most movies go for 130 minutes on average, so yeah!
As for the 6th book, I can't wait at all. Maybe that means the 7th will be released in 2006.

i don't see how they can cut the quidditch cup out like that... it's one of the biggest parts of the book... oh well plus i can see them doing the scene in the Shrieking Shack a lot quicker than it took to read, because there was so much dialogue. Oh well we'll see what happens and hope that they don't cut anything too important...

Anything that has a book and a movie usually has the book have more stuff. If you think about it from the point of view of reading the book first, then seeing the movie, you tend to think that they cut a lot of stuff out. But if you see the movie first, then read the book, you tend to think they added a lot of stuff in the book. This is based on me reading then watching Harry Potter and my friend watching then reading Titan A.E. Okay, different movies but still the same concept..

Well, considering the amount of information contained in all of the books, including the tiniest (is that how u spell it?) hints that may be used later, 2 and half hours is kinda short...

well i know the quidditch match against hufflepuff where harry falls of his broom will be in the movie because it shows in one of the trailers him falling off his broom... but i don't know is that the only one? i mean how can you cut out gryffindor winning the quidditch cup? that's extremely bad in my opinion... i mean there's an entire two chapters dedicated to the lead-up of the match and the match itself... bad planning if they cut that out

I hope nobody's said this, but I'm to lazy to to read the entire topic...
But if J.K. doesn't hurry up with the last two books, the trio that're doing the first four movies (or at least the duo) will be in their twenties by the time the sixth movie's made. =\

I was told by someone reading the movie poster 160+ mins, which is actually about the same as #2, at 161 mins, so, maybe 5 min difference. Which isn't bad. I do have my reservations about cuts, but it has also been stated that some of the scenes in the book take so long to read just because there's so much dialogue, where as the movie will go through that in a snap, so. . . here's hoping!
I am really geared up for it though, 'cause book three remains my favorite in the entire series to date. There's just so much that happens that leads into the rest of the series and ties it all together. But, more on that in the fave book thread, which I'm going to next.
