If you could use one spell...
If I was able to use one spell in my lifetime, I think I'd want to have the Imprius Curse at my disposal. Call me evil, but if I only had one magic trick, that would easily be the most useful hehe

If movie spells count, then I would use lacarnum-inflamari (fire) or lumos-solem (big arse light lazer)
If not, probably accio (summoning)

I know that a Patronus is the only way to defeat a Dementor, but is the Patronus good for other protection/guarding purposes?

Well...
So far, the only thing we know about the Patronus is that it protects you from dementors... so far. I'm expecting a lot out of that spell, despite its major usage in book three. From video games (and nothing more, if it was released in a book I don't 'member it) I beleive there was supposedly "some guy" who produced a giant patronus, and he was impenatrable. Sounds like the best shield possible... Oh, and me? I'd like to do Wingardium Leviosa, out of curiosity, think you could lift humans with that?

I would probably use the patronus spell; to ward off my enemies, or just taking them out if they tried to hurt me. =P

Either that silver armor spell that Voldemort used, or the Imperius Curse.

I think I'd want that Summoning Spell charm because it's just so useful and you wouldn't have to do near as much manual work anymore. = P

I'd like to be able to use the Imperius Curse. Mind control seems pretty useful. Mainly for reasons only Charninja would state. Heh heh.

Unforgivable.
Easily the Imperius Curse would be my pick. Why use a Patronus to ward off your enemies, or a summon to get a gun when you can simply tell the person to stop bothering you?
