Default The Official Bujin Guide and Discussion Part II - Kagutsuchi's Flame

Welcome to The Arena of the Gods, where you will be able learn the playstyle of the almighty Bujin archetype. First off, you may be wondering what a Bujin is. In this game, the Bujins are deities that have lost their power and fell down to Earth where they set out on a journey to regain what was lost to them. The power that the Bujin have lost are now in the form of the Bujin Relics.

The main goal of the deck is to make sure that your Bujin is an indomitable force, whether it be through protection in battle, protection from card effects or being able to alter the playing field in any way you please.

Now lets jump into the cards!

The Bujins

The Bujins are the main stars of our deck. All of the Bujin Relics only work to assist these monsters through out the match to ensure your victory.

Quote:
Bujin - Yamato
Light Beast-Warrior / Effect
LV4 1800/200

Once per turn, during your End Phase: You can add 1 "Bujin" monster from your Deck to your hand, then, send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard. You can only control 1 face-up "Bujin - Yamato".
Yamato is the first of our main decked beast-warriors, and imo, the best one. He allows you to cycle through any of your Bujin Relics as needed. Whether it be directly sending one from the deck to the graveyard, or filtering out the graveyard support from your hand. Yamato is a very versatile card that should be ran at max copies.

Run 3

Quote:
Bujin - Mikazuchi
Light Beast-Warrior / Effect
Lv4 1900/1500

When a "Bujin" Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. During the End Phase, if a "Bujin" monster was sent from your hand to the Graveyard during this turn: You can add 1 "Bujin" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. There can only be 1 face-up "Bujin - Mikazuchi".
Mikazuchi is our 2nd main deck boss monster. Even though Yamato is a more solid card, Mikazuchi is still nothing short of fantastic. He instantly replaces any Bujin Beast-Warrior that is destroyed, meaning you get to keep your field presence if your Bujin Relics somehow Backfire. Not only that, but if you happen to send any Bujin monster(whether it be a relic or a Bujin) from your hand to the graveyard, he instantly replaces it with one of our themed spell or trap cards. The downside of Mikazuchi, however, is the fact that he does not constantly replenish our relics like Yamato does. Meaning Mikazuchi is more of a tool than a monster than can stay on the field for a long period of time.

Run 1-2

Quote:
Bujintei - Susano'o
Light Beast-Warrior / Xyz / Effect
Rank 4 2400/1600
2 Level 4 "Bujin" monsters

This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; either add 1 "Bujin" monster from your Deck to your hand, or send it to the Graveyard. You can only control 1 face-up "Bujintei - Susanowo".
Susano'o is the completed form of Yamato once he united with the relics that were separated from him. Susanoo can do a lot of things for just being a rank 4. He can snag any Bujin monster from the deck or simply dump any of them into the graveyard. On top of that, he can wipe the opponent's board in one fell swoop. Susano'o is a force to be reckoned with once he hits the field and offers a great deal of versatility.

Run 2

Quote:
Bujintei - Kagutsuchi
Light Beast-Warrior / Xyz / Effect
Rank 4 2500/2000
2 Level 4 Beast-Warrior-Type monsters

When this card is Xyz Summoned: Send the top 5 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, then this card gains 100 ATK for each "Bujin" card sent this way. If a "Bujin" Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead. You can only control 1 face-up "Bujintei - Kagutsuchi".
Kagutsuchi is the completed form of Mikazuchi once he reunites with his lost Bujin Relics. On summon, he instantly gives you some form of graveyard set up while gaining attack at the same time. This may not be a controlled form of graveyard set up like Susano'o and Yamato can perform, but that is not the main reason why he is a very good card. Kagutsuchi can save any Bujin Beast-Warrior from being destroyed(whether it be through battle or card effects) just by detaching one xyz material. This effect is very good since he is a very beefy monster and we have many forms of protecting our Bujins through the Relics. As a mention to the xyz requirements, since 2 lv 4 beast-warriors is less restrictive than 2 lv 4 Bujins, Kagutsuchi is very easy to summon in our deck and it also means that we can incorporate more ways to summon him.

Run 1 in standard because you generally do not have to make him more than once.

Run 2-3 In Rabbit Builds since Kagutsuchi is the centerpiece of the deck.

The Bujin Relics

The Bujin Relics serve as tools to our Bujins. For now, the Bujin Relics are separated into two categories: The Aerial Support(The Winged-Beasts) and The Underground Support(The Beasts).

The Underground Support

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Murakumo
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1600/900

If you control a face-up Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster: You can banish this card from your Graveyard to target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; destroy that target. The effect of "Bujinki - Murakumo" can only be used once per turn.
Murakumo is one of the relics that were separated from Susano'o. This guy is our on-spot removal for any face up card the opponent has, which is pretty nifty. It can take care of battle immune monsters or any type of face up card that is hindering you in the duel. As good as Murakumo may seem, most of the time you'll only be getting rid of monsters with this effect. Due to the other support we have, monsters that aren't battle immune are not a big issue to us but do not let that discourage you from using this card.

Run 2-3

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Hetsuka
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1700/1200
During either player's turn, when a "Bujin" monster you control is targeted by a card effect: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; negate that effect.
Hetska is one of the relics that were separated from Susano'o. Hetsuka is amazing for what he does once you think about how many cards in the game target. You gain immunity against cards such as Number 11: Big Eye, Mecha Phantom Beast Dragossack, Dimensional Prison, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Number 50: Blackship of Corn and Mind Control. In other words, you get a lot of protection just by banishing one monster from the graveyard.

Run 3.

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Taruta
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1100/2000

Other Beast, Beast-Warrior, and Winged Beast-Type monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle.
Taruta is one of the relics that were separated from Susano'o. Taruta may seem to be that good of a card, however he isn't a total loss. His 2000 defense can be pretty decent in certain situations and offers battle immunity to your other Bujins. Two of these guys make it so that all your Bujins are Marshmallons. However, there are better things to use your normal summon/set slot than this monster. He may see use in the future, but for now he's not that good.

Run 0

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Ikuta
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1100/1900

If you control a "Bujin" monster: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up Attack Position monster your opponent controls; change that target to face-up Defense Position, and if you do, have its DEF become 0.
Ikuta is one of the relics that were separated from Kagutsuchi. Ikuta is a pretty decent card, but our deck space is pretty tight on space. Not to mention there are other effective ways to deal with monsters in this deck(such as Murakumo).

Run 0

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Hachi
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1700/500

If you control a "Bujin" Beast-Warrior-Type monster: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls; destroy that target. You can only use the effect of "Bujingi - Hachi" once per turn.
Hachi is one of the relics that were separated from Kagutsuchi. Hachi is our themed MST(Mystical Space Typhoon), and more backrow removal is always nice. Hachi is more of a preference card, imo, since all of us have different playstyles.

The Aerial Support

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Habakiri
Light Winged Beast / Effect
LV4 1600/300

During Damage Calculations, when a Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster you control battled an opponent's monster: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; double your battling monster's original ATK during that Damage Calculation only.
Habikiri is one of the relics that were separated from Susano'o. One of our best Bujin Relics by far, Habikiri can establish total dominance over the Battle Phase. There isn't much to cover with this card as it is pretty self explanatory.

Run 3.

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Orochi
Light Winged Beast / Effect
LV4 1700/500

You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to target 1 "Bujin" monster you control; it can attack your opponent directly this turn.
Orochi is one of the relics that were separated from Susano'o. Orochi is there for your Bujin to deal game ending damage, however we have to get to that end game first. Many of our other cards help us reach that end game, meanwhile Orochi is very underwhelming compared to them.

Run 0.

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Yata
Light Winged Beast / Effect
LV4 1700/800

When a "Bujin" Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control is targeted for an attack: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; negate that attack, and inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the ATK of the attacking monster. You can only use the effect of "Bujingi - Yata" once per turn.

Yata is one of the relics that were separated from Kagutsuchi. Yata is a very interesting card for the fact that it has a very similar effect to Magic Cylinder. Even though Yata does not offer the blatant buff that Habikiri offers, the attack negation and burn can put you in a very good situation a good amount of times. Sadly the deck is tight on space, and Habakiri is the far superior choice when it comes down to Aerial Support.

Run 0-1

Quote:
Bujin Relic - Ohabari
Light Winged Beast / Effect
LV4 1600/300

During your Main Phase 1: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard, then target 1 "Bujin" monster you control; during this turn, if it attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.
Ohabari is one of the relics that were separated from Kagutsuchi. There may be times where that piercing damage can be game winning. Not only that, but this card can trigger Mikazuchi on your own turn. There are better cards to use over this guy, but again, preference.

Run 0-1

Spells

Quote:
Rise of the Bujin
Normal Spell

If your opponent controls a monster while you do not: Target 1 "Bujin" monster in your Graveyard and 1 of your banished "Bujin" monsters; Special Summon those 2 monsters. These monsters cannot be used as Xyz Material, except for a Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type Xyz Monsters.
Our themed.....Advanced Heraldry Art. Rise of the Bujin is a bit of an iffy card to discuss. When the deck gets its setup rolling, then this card is pretty good and can serve to replenish your resources as well as establish more field presence. However, when we do not get our setup rolling, then this card pretty much has a blank text box. This card is entirely preference if you want to run it in your main deck or not. Summoning two monsters out of nowhere is a pretty hard offer to pass up.

Run 0-2 in Pre-Shadow Specters Builds

Run 1-2 in Post-Shadow Specters Builds

Quote:
Kyoumeisuru Bujin (Bujin Mirresonance)
Normal Spell

During the start of your Main Phase 1, if you control a "Bujin" monster while your opponent controls more monsters than you do: Until your opponent's next End Phase, neither player can activate Spell/Trap Effects.
Does this card ring any bells? If not, then refer to the banlist and compare one of the spell cards there to this one. This card is pretty interesting, seeing as it can let you summon and attack without worrying about any opposing backrow. However, this card seems pretty unwieldly due to its restrictions. Time will tell whether this card will become a staple or not.

Traps

Quote:
The Bujin Armament Apparition
Normal trap

Activate 1 of these effects.
-Target 1 "Bujin" monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.
-Target 1 of your banished "Bujin" monsters; Return that target to the Graveyard.
This card is very useful due to how it can snag back any of our used Bujins for later use. It is also searchable by Mikazuchi and is the most practical themed non-monster card we have.

Run 0-2

Quote:
Fall of the Bujin
Normal Trap

Release 1 Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster you control to target 1 "Bujin" monster with a different name in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.
While this card is a nice ditch effort to avoid being targeted by a specific card, we already have someone for that(see Hetsuka). This card can also be used for extra damage but.... we also have cards for that(see Habikiri). However, this card isn't entirely pointless. Summoning back a Kagutsuchi or Susanoo after it dies can instantly create some sort of miracle comeback if you're losing. This is also another card that can be searched out by Mikazuchi.

Run 0

Outside Support

Monsters

Quote:
Honest
Light Fairy / Effect
1100/1900
During your Main Phase: You can Return this card from the field to its owner's hand. During either player's Damage Step, when a face-up LIGHT monster you control battles: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; that monster gain ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the End Phase.
Yeah, this card probably popped into everyone's mind when they saw this archetype was all LIGHT. There is no reason to really go into this.

Run 1

Quote:
Vivit Knight
Light Beast-Warrior/Effect
1700/800

When exactly 1 face-up LIGHT Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control is targeted for an attack or an opponent's card effect: You can banish that target until your next Standby Phase, then Special Summon this card from your hand.
Vivit Knight is a very good card for this deck. If you want to avoid any sort of targeting when your Hetsuka is not in the graveyard yet or you did not have any Habikiris in hand, then this guy cover it all for you. Not to mention he saves your Bujin and sets up a rank 4 play for your next turn. Due to tight deck space, Vivit Knight is merely just personal preference.

Run 0-2

Run 0 Post-Shadow Specters(Mikazuchi replaces this guy)

Quote:
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear
Fire Beast-Warrior/Effect
1600/1200

Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.
This guy is also a good option since you should be using Fire Formation - Tenki. Run 1-2.

Quote:
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Gorilla
Fire Beast-Warrior/Effect
1600/1200

Once per turn, when this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy that target.
Gorilla is the the less favorable of the brothers. However, if you see that backrow is more of a threat that monsters, then Gorilla can be run in Bear's place or alongside with him.

Quote:
Rescue Rabbit
Earth Beast/Effect
300/100

Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. You can banish this card you control: Special Summon 2 level 4 or lower normal monsters with the same name from your deck. Destroy them during the end phase. You can only use the effect of "Rescue Rabbit" once per turn.
Quote:
Gene-Warped Warwolf
Earth Beast-Warrior
Quote:
Vorse Raider
Dark Beast-Warrior
The reason I mention Rescue Rabbit is due to Kagutsuchi's summoning conditions as well as synergy with Tiger King. Rescue Rabbit can instantly let you put a Bujin xyz on the board that can potentially have an instant graveyard set up. While the worst Rabbit can do is let you summon Tiger King who can fetch Tenki or Tensu from your deck to allow you to proceed with more shenanigans.

As for the vanillas, you may run 3 of either one. Vorse Raider if you prefer using deck devistation vorus, or Gene-Warped Warwolf if you just want a beatstick.

Run 2 in Rescue Rabbit focused builds.

Spells

Quote:
Fire Formation - Tenki
Continuous Spell
When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.
Tenki searches out our main bosses of the deck. Not using Tenki in our deck would be a very foolish thing to do.

Run 3

Quote:
Fire Formation - Tensu
Continuous Spell
During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK.
With the amount of Beat-Warriors that our deck has as well as our xyz Kagutsuchi, Tensu is a very viable option to use in a deck. However, it is merely preference due to the deck space being very tight.

Run 0-2

Quote:
Foolish Burial
Normal Spell
Send one monster from your deck to your graveyard.
This card is instant setup for your Underground Support, and yet again there may or may not be space for you to run this card in your deck.

Run 0-1

Quote:
Kaiser Colosseum
Continuous Spell

If there is 1 or more monster(s) on the field of the controller of this card, his/her opponent cannot place a monster on the field if his/her number of monsters would exceed the number of monsters that are on the field of this card's controller. The cards that are already on the field before this card's activation are unaffected by this effect.
Kaiser Colosseum is a very good tech to since we can mainly thrive on only having one Bujin on the field and giving him protection through the relics. This card also cripples any deck that relies on summoning multiple monsters to get their plays off while at the same time allows you to control the tempo of the game.

Run 0-2

Quote:
Forbidden Lance
Quick-play Spell

Target 1 face-up monster on the field; until the End Phase, it loses 800 ATK, but is unaffected by the effects of other Spell/Trap Cards.
The main use for Forbidden Lance is to protect your Bujin Beast-Warrior from effects that Hetsuka cannot such as Bottomless Trap Hole, Dark Hole, Spellbook of Fate and Mirror Force. The attack reduction is irrelevant due to Habakiri and other protection cards you should have.

Run 2-3

Traps

Quote:
Horn of the Phantom Beast
Normal Trap
Target 1 Beast or Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control; equip this card to that target. It gains 800 ATK. When the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Draw 1 card.
Nearly our entire main deck are candidates for using this card. On top of an 800 attack boost, you get a free draw for killing a monster in battle? *Looks at Susano'o* Yeah.... this card is pretty good.

Run 0-2.

Quote:
Vanity's Emptiness
Continuous Trap

Neither player can special summon monsters. Destroy this card when a card is sent from the deck or the field to your graveyard
Now here is an interesting tech that the OCG has been using in their Bujin builds. We can bypass the sily restrictions of this card easily due to these three facts:

1) Yamato adds a card from the deck to the hand first, then discards it.

2) Our Aerial Support send themselves from the hand to the graveyard.

3) Yamato can set up our Underground Support without triggering Vanity's Emptiness.

As I've stated before in this guide, we can do very well with only having a Bujin Beast-Warrior on the field. This card can severely hurt the opponent and put you in a very good spot in the duel due to this card's controlling nature. However, some may not like this card due to other card choices one may have.

Run 2-3 between the main deck and side deck.

The Xyz

Quote:
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King
Fire Rank 4
2200/1800
2 Level 4 Beast-Warrior-Type monsters

When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up Effect Monster currently on the field, except Beast-Warrior-Type, until the end of your opponent's turn. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can send 3 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Cards you control to the Graveyard; Special Summon 2 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monsters with the same ATK from your Deck, in face-up Defense Position.
Tiger King is another very good card in this deck, especially if you are using the Rabbit variant. He can snag your Tenki or Tensu out of the deck and proceed to do more shenanigans afterwards.

Run 1

Quote:
Ice Beast Zerofyne
Rank 4 Water Winged Beast/Effect
2000/2200
2 Level 4 Winged Beast-Type monsters

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; until your next Standby Phase, negate the effects of all face-up cards your opponent currently controls, also this card gains 300 ATK for each face-up card currently on the field, except this card.
This card deserves a mention, despite the fact that you would probably never summon our Aerial Support.... unless you need to. After a Rise of Bujin or Monster Reborn, Sylphine can turn the whole game around in your favor.

Run 0-1

Quote:
Constellar Omega
Light Beast-Warrior
2400/500

2 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this turn, face-up "Constellar" monsters you control are unaffected by the effects of Spell/Trap Cards.
Omega is another nice xyz option due to all of our Bujins being Light.

Run 1

Quote:
Diamond Dire Wolf
Earth Beast
2 Level 4 Monsters

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.
Another nice xyz option for when there is a card in the field that needs to be destroyed when Murakumo is unavailable. Not to mention he combos nicely with Mikazuchi.

Run 1

Quote:
Starliege Paladynamo
Light Warrior
2000/2000
2 Level 4 LIGHT Monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card to target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes 0, and if it does, its effects are negated. When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Draw 1 card.
Our archetype is MADE of level 4 LIGHT monsters. Not running this guy would be almost insane.

Run 1-2

New cards seem nice, at least some of them. Why can't Konami make an archetype that has consistently good cards instead of 3-4 bad ones and 3-4 completely bat**** crazy ones?

In the deck skeleton Yamato is spelled wrong. You might want to fix that.

Madolches fit this bill.

Bujin - Mikuzuchi
Light Beast-Warrior / Effect
LV4 1900/1500
When a Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster you control is destroyed by battle or a card effect and sent to the Graveyard; You can Special Summon this card from your hand. During the End Phase, a "Bujin" (card/monster) was sent from your hand to the Graveyard during this turn: You can add 1 "Bujin" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. There can only be 1 face-up "Bujin - Mikazuchi".

Bujintei - Kagutsuchi
Light Beast-Warrior / Xyz / Effect
RK4 2500/2000
2 Level 4 Beast-Warrior-Type monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned: Send the top 5 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, and this card gains 100 ATK for each "Bujin" monster sent this way. If a Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster you control would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead.

Kyoumeisuru Bujin (Bujin Mirresonance )
Spell Normal
If you control a Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster while your opponent controls more monsters than you do: Neither player can activate Spells, Traps, or Spell/Trap Effects until your opponent's next End Phase.

Bujin Relic - Ohabari
4 Stars/LIGHT/Winged Beast-Type - Effect/1600 ATK/Unknown DEF
Hand. During this turn, 1 "Bujin" cannot be destroyed.

Bujin Relic - Yata
4 Stars/LIGHT/Winged Beast-Type - Effect/1700 ATK/Unknown DEF
Hand. Negate an attack on a Beast-Warrior-Type Bujin, and inflict halve the ATK of the attacking monster to your opponent as damage.
Only one "Bujin Relic - Yata" can be used per turn.

Bujin Relic - Hachi
4 Stars/LIGHT/Beast-Type - Effect/1700 ATK/Unknown DEF
Graveyard.
If you have a Bujin Beast-Warrior-Type, you can be banish to destroy 1 opponent Spell/Trap card.
Only one "Bujin Relic - Hachi" can be used per turn.

Bujin Relic - Ikuto
4 Stars/LIGHT/Beast-Type - Effect/1100 ATK/Unknown DEF
Graveyard.
If you have a Bujin monster, change a face-up Attack Position opponent monster to DEF and make its DEF 0.

For those who haven't seen. I'll add them when the translations are nearly finalized(or when YGOPro adds them, whichever comes first).

I like how the new rank 4 just needs 2 level 4 Beast-Warrior yugimonz.

Not bad on new thread. I agree for the general conscious of the new cards. Some are great ( the spell/trap hate) and some are underwhelming

subbing because I like decks that can run 4 honests.

Also the new s/t hate is just broken. If the format slows a bit this deck is easy tier 1
