Default The Official Bujin Guide and Discussion Part I - Descent of the LIGHT Warlords

The deck concept of the Bujin archetype is centered around Keeping our beast-warrior Bujin on the field and protecting him through the uses of the beast and winged beasts the theme has.

First, we'll start with the themed support.

Monsters

Quote:
Bujin - Yamato
Light Beast-Warrior / Effect
LV4 1800/200
Once per turn, during your End Phase: You can add 1 "Bujin" monster from your Deck to your hand, then, send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard. You can only control 1 face-up "Bujin - Yamato".
Yamato is the heart and soul of this deck. The rest of the main deck monsters in this theme center themselves around protecting this guy. Once Yamato hits the field, he will be tough to overcome due to our themed battle boosters and targeting protection. I'll be getting to those later on in the guide.

Run 3

Quote:
Bujinki - Murakumo
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1600/900
If you control a face-up Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster: You can banish this card from your Graveyard to target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; destroy that target. The effect of "Bujinki - Murakumo" can only be used once per turn.
So this guy is our card removal. Being able to only destroy face-ups severely hinders it, but it can still get rid of threatening cards the opponent has already set up.

Run 2-3

Quote:
Bujinki - Hetsuka
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1700/1200
During either player's turn, when a "Bujin" monster you control is targeted by a card effect: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; negate that effect.
Now this guy is pretty good protection against cards like Dimensional Prison, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Effect Veiler, etc. Combine this card with something like Forbidden Dress or Lance and Yamato has complete immunity for the turn.

Run 2-3.

Quote:
Bujinki - Taruta
Light Beast / Effect
LV4 1100/2000
Other Beast, Beast-Warrior, and Winged Beast-Type monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle.
This guy is pretty subpar, it's best to avoid him for now.

Quote:
Bujinki - Habakiri
Light Winged Beast / Effect
LV4 1600/300
During Damage Calculations, when a Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster you control battled an opponent's monster: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; double your battling monster's original ATK during that Damage Calculation only.
Our Bujin Beast-Warriors get a mini-limiter removal in the form of a hand trap. . Also, think about it.....we get 3 of this guy and Honest. Your opponent isn't beating over Yamato or Susanoo any time soon.

Run 3.

Quote:
Bujinki - Orochi
Light Winged Beast / Effect
LV4 1700/500
You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to target 1 "Bujin" monster you control; it can attack your opponent directly this turn.
So he lets your guy attack directly. Not very impressive and the deck needs space to fit in other cards that can actually do things.

Run 0.

Spells

Quote:
Bujin Kourin (Bujin Descend)
Spell Normal
If your opponent controls a monster while you do not: Target 1 "Bujin" monster in your Graveyard and 1 of your banished "Bujin" monsters; Special Summon those 2 monsters. These monsters cannot be used as Xyz Material, except for a Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type Xyz Monsters.
Now this spell is actually "okay". Once you get your set up rolling, this card will almost always be live. It makes our boss easily summoned and can also summon other xyz like Tiger King, Diamond Dire Wolf, etc. However, Bujin's Descent is a pretty dead card when you do not have the set up(Yamato) or when you already have field presence.

Quick Note: You do not HAVE to xyz summon that turn.

Run 0-2 in standard and 2-3 in a Banished zone variant.

Traps

Quote:
Kengensuru Bujin (Bujin Apparates)
Trap Normal
Activate 1 of these effects.
-Target 1 "Bujin" monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.
-Target 1 of your banished "Bujin" monsters; Return that target to the Graveyard.
This card is more like a trap version of Dark Eruption for us. You'll probably be using the 2nd effect more than the first, which is still pretty useful anyways. But to be honest, this may just be a tech for most people. Time will tell whether this is a true staple.

Run 0-2

Quote:
Bujin Harai (Bujin Pursue)
Trap Normal
Release 1 Beast-Warrior-Type "Bujin" monster you control to target 1 "Bujin" monster with a different name in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.
With what we currently have, this card is not worth the effort.

Run 0

Xyz

Quote:
Bujintei - Susanowo (Susanowo, Emperor of the Bushin)
Light Beast-Warrior / Xyz / Effect
RK4 2400/1600
2 Level 4 "Bujin" monsters
This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; either add 1 "Bujin" monster from your Deck to your hand, or send it to the Graveyard. You can only control 1 face-up "Bujintei - Susanowo".
My God......This guy is amazing. He's a RoTA, a Foolish Burial AND an Elemental Hero Wildedge? If you've read the previous cards of this archetype, then you can see why this cad is so freaking amazing. Not to mention he has pretty badass artwork.

Run 2-3.

Outside Support

Monsters

Quote:
Honest
Light Fairy / Effect
1100/1900
During your Main Phase: You can Return this card from the field to its owner's hand. During either player's Damage Step, when a face-up LIGHT monster you control battles: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; that monster gain ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the End Phase.
Yeah, this card probably popped into everyone's mind when they saw this archetype was all LIGHT. There is no reason to really go into this.

Run 1

Quote:
Lightray Sorcerer
Light Spellcaster / Effect
2300/2000
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) while 3 or more of your LIGHT monsters are banished, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn: You can target 1 of your banished LIGHT monsters and 1 face-up monster on the field; shuffle the first target into the Deck, and if you do, banish the second target. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect.
This card deserves a mention mainly due to our self-banishing monsters. Run 0-1 in a Banished Zone focused build.

Quote:
Lightray Grepher
Light Warrior/Effect
1700/1600
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by discarding 1 Level 5 or higher LIGHT monster. Once per turn: You can discard 1 LIGHT monster; banish 1 LIGHT monster from your Deck.
With this card you can easily set up Bujin's Descent and the themed trap card. It may be a tech at best in the main build if you really want your Bujin's Descent to kick off.

Run 1-2 in a Banished Zone variant.

Quote:
Photon Thrasher
Light Warrior /Effect
2100/0

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) while you control no monsters. If you control another monster, this card cannot attack.
Thrasher can be used for those quick xyz plays like making Lavalval Chain to stack your Yamato or a Paladynamo with one of the other Bujins. However, he is a dead card when you already have Yamato or Susanoo on board.

Run 1-2 if you do decide to use this guy.

Quote:
Vivit Knight
Light Beast-Warrior
1700/800

When exactly 1 face-up LIGHT Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control is targeted for an attack or an opponent's card effect: You can banish that target until your next Standby Phase, then Special Summon this card from your hand.
This guy is pretty clutch if you don't want to use your Hetsuka on something just yet. He also lets you set up a rank 4 play the following turn. Being a LIGHT Beast-Warrior is another perk since that makes him compatible with Horn of the Phantom Beast, Honest and Tenki.

Run 0-2.

Quote:
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear
Fire Beast-Warrior
1600/1200

Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.
This guy is also a good option since you use Fire Formation - Tenki. Run 1-3.

Quote:
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Gorilla
Fire Beast-Warrior
1600/1200

Once per turn, when this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy that target.
Gorilla is the the less favorable of the brothers. He can work, however, since we mostly have dominance over the battle phase.

Run 0-2

Spells

Quote:
Fire Formation - Tenki
Continuous Spell
When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.
Most of you probably thought about this card when you read that the main monster of this deck is a beast-warrior.

Run 3 to get to your Yamato ASAP.

Quote:
Fire Formation - Tensu
Continuous Spell
During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK.
This card has synergy with Bear, Yamato and Vivvet Knight(if you decide to use him). It sets up an immediate Susanoo or Tiger King play if needed and can make your deck a bit more flexible in terms of the varying plays it can make.

Run 0 if you only have 5 Beast-Warriors in your deck.

Run 0-1 If you have 6+ Beast-Warirors in your deck.

Quote:
Foolish Burial
Normal Spell
Send one monster from your deck to your graveyard.
This card is instant setup for your Murakumo or Hetsuka.

Run 0-1

Quote:
Light of Redemption
Normal Spell
Pay 800 Life Points to target 1 of your banished LIGHT monsters; add that target to your hand.
There's no use for this card currently in the main build, but you may use it in a Lightray focused build.

Run 0-1

Quote:
The Big Cattle Drive
Normal Spell
If you control a Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster: Draw 1 card for each of those Monster Types you control. You cannot activate other Spell/Trap Cards or effects during the turn you activate this card.
We have monsters of each type, so you would think this card would be great in here. Unfortunately, we are not a spam deck so this card is only win-more at best right now. Let's just keep an eye on this card in case we do have more ways of swarming the field.

At this moment, run 0.

Quote:
Kaiser Colosseum
Continuous Spell

If there is 1 or more monster(s) on the field of the controller of this card, his/her opponent cannot place a monster on the field if his/her number of monsters would exceed the number of monsters that are on the field of this card's controller. The cards that are already on the field before this card's activation are unaffected by this effect.
A card that lets us just outright control the field since we usualy just have only Yamato or Susanoo on the field. It slows down any opposing deck down to your level and pretty much forces only one monster to battle Yamato. Kaiser Colosseum is also a pretty nice card to play after you Raigeki your opponent's monsters with Susanoo.

Run 0-2 between the main deck and the side deck

Traps

Quote:
Horn of the Phantom Beast
Normal Trap
Target 1 Beast or Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control; equip this card to that target. It gains 800 ATK. When the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Draw 1 card.
Oh my God, don't get me started on this card. Our beasts and beast-warrior monsters are beefy enough to make full use of this card's boost. Not to mention this card creates some ZOMG attacking spree combo with Susanoo. However, some of you may feel that protecting your monsters with flat-out removal may be better. It's your call in the end whether you want to run this or not.

Run 0-3.

The Xyz

Quote:
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King
Fire Rank 4
2200/1800
2 Level 4 Beast-Warrior-Type monsters

When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up Effect Monster currently on the field, except Beast-Warrior-Type, until the end of your opponent's turn. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can send 3 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Cards you control to the Graveyard; Special Summon 2 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monsters with the same ATK from your Deck, in face-up Defense Position.
This guy can be out secondary boss since it can be summoned through using either of the Fire Fist guys you choose to run. You can also tutor Tenki from your deck, and Tenki gets Yamato. Yamato is our win condition.

Run 1

Quote:
Sylphine, the Sub Zero Siren
Water Rank 4
2000/2200

2 Level 4 Winged Beast-Type monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; until your next Standby Phase, negate the effects of all face-up cards your opponent currently controls, also this card gains 300 ATK for each face-up card currently on the field, except this card.
This card also deserves a mention since it is more likely to be summoned by our spell just to become a huge beater and provide some useful effect negation.

Run 0-1

Quote:
Constellar Omega
Light Beast-Warrior
2400/500

2 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this turn, face-up "Constellar" monsters you control are unaffected by the effects of Spell/Trap Cards.
This guy is probably our 2nd Go to boss. The Spell/Trap immunity is pretty nice and he can be summon by our spell card.

Run 1-2

Quote:
Diamond Dire Wolf
Earth Beast
2 Level 4 Monsters

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.
This card is yet again, another good option for us to xyz into. This card can also destroy our graveyard reliant guys who can get their effects off yet again. At worst, Dire Wolf will just end up being a one card out to something on the field that you need to get rid of ASAP.

Run 0-1

Quote:
Starliege Paladynamo
Light Warrior
2000/2000
2 Level 4 LIGHT Monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card to target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes 0, and if it does, its effects are negated. When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Draw 1 card.
Our archetype is MADE of level 4 LIGHT monsters. Not running this guy would be almost insane.

Run 1-2

-"Susanowo", a Kami who was banished from Takamagahara after his power was sealed into the Five "Bujingi"
・"Bujintei - Susanowo" was a Kami who lived in the Upper World of Takamagahara, a world that lived many Kmai. Due to his amazing power, there were those who found him dangerous, and plotted several schemes to cast doubt upon his person. Finally, the Highest Kami had been angered and banished "Susanowo" to the Surface World after sealing his powers in the Five "Bujingi"

-To search for the "Bujingi" that fell to the Surface World with him, "Susanowo" took on the name of "Yamato" and began his long journey to find them
・After losing more than half of his power, he took on the name "Bujin - Yamato" to find the Five "Bujingi" to regain his powers as "Susanowo". During his journey, seeing the suffering of those who lived on the Surface World caused by the actions of the Kami of Takamagahara, he began to harbor serious doubts about the Kami of Takamagahara, including the Highest Kami.

-After finding the Five "Bujingi", "Yamato" regained his power as "Bujintei - Susanowo"!!
・At the end of his long journey, the discovery of the Five "Bujingi" allowed his to Return to his true form of the most powerful Kami "Bujintei - Susanowo". And so, not only against those who have framed him, but also to bring judgment to those who have brought great suffering to the Surface People, many of whom helped him during his journey, "Susanowo" resolved himself and flew back toward Takamagahara!

I wondered who was gonna start the thread... Anyway, subbing.

EDIT: By the way might wanna add these to the OP or at least consider them:

Quote:
Vivit Knight
Light Beast-Warrior / Effect
LV4 1700/800
When exactly 1 face-up LIGHT Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control is targeted for an attack or an opponent's card effect: You can banish that target until your next Standby Phase, then Special Summon this card from your hand.
Quote:
The Big Cattle Drive
Normal Spell
If you control a Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster: Draw 1 card for each of those Monster Types you control. You cannot activate other Spell/Trap Cards or effects during the turn you activate this card.

I REALLY like this deck.
But I feel like tenki and kabakiri are needed at 3, not "2-3".
Also, you should probably put up a small skeleton, but I know you probably have your hands full.

Additional Comment:

you also could add Charge of the Light Brigade with Ryko and maybe Lyla?

Taruta's art is nice. I like running a set-and-forget, so I'll probably run a copy out of preference. Wish it could protect itself.

Warmaster pursuit depends on whatever new BW we get in the pack afterwards.

My calculations were off: I was predicting a spam based archetype, not a protect-the-monster one like brofist. Looks like that will be Holy Lightning's job, although I predict a hybrid.

I'm kind of upset that there are no Winged Beasts that Banish themselves more easily to make Sylphine, but I'll have to make it work.
