=====RULES====

Madolche, (pronounced Mah-DOL-chay) is one of the new EARTH archetypes introduced in upcoming set, Return of the Duelist (REDU), and receives further support in Abyss Rising(ABYR). The archetype revolves around the theme of returning themselves to the deck instead of staying in the Graveyard when they are destroyed by your opponent. If their Field Spell is out, then they have the option to return to the hand instead of the deck creating a recycle engine that leads to an insane amount of plusses. The monsters are based on desserts, wines, French culture and Royalty. This archetype is sure to leave you with a sweet tooth.

Our very own Stratos and, she can even search herself out. Being able to search out any Madolche, even our dear Princess, truly makes her a worthy and powerful witch indeed. Oh, and did we mention that her broomstick is actually a fork?

Basic searcher – Run 3 always

So this is pretty much a dessert version of Marauding Captain, only a cute little kitty cat. Mewl allows us to swarm the field and make Rank 3 Xyzs with himself or Mehple, and he even brings out our Royal Princess. Truly he is a great pet for the Princess, wouldn’t you agree? Also with Messengelato, he allows him to search.

Run 2-3. 3 in builds that run 3 Puddingcess, but 2 is recommended in standard builds along with 2 Puddingcess since they can both be searched by Magileine. Useful with Messengelato as well.

Our lovely and ever so tasty Princess, although her stats may seem to bitter, her effect is certainly sweet. As long as she battles (surviving or not) she will pop an opponents card. Her attack can soar as high as 2300(1800 with no monsters in grave, and 2300 with the field spell in play as well) and she can be Special Summoned with Mewl-Feuille. This is our heart and soul and we must protect our Princess with all our might!

Run 1-2. Recommended number is 2 for consistency reasons, but if you also run 3 Mewl-Feuille then I can see 3 working. However, there are probably better things you can use the extra 2 slots for.

When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle it into the Deck. Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up Attack Position "Madolche" monster you control and 1 face-up Attack Position monster your opponent controls; change those targets to face-up Defense Position. Those targets cannot change their battle positions until the end of your opponent's next turn.
Aww it’s so cute! Also tasty, and has a quite a few things going for it. It’s effect allows you to select one face-up Madolche monster(In most cases it will be Mehple) and one face-up opponent’s monster in attack position, and change both to Defense. Mehple truly is amazing as this allows us to get over big beaters and allows Puddingcess’ effect to go off easier. It can be Normal Summoned while Puddingcess is out and allow her to battle a monster in defense and pop a card. With Mewl, Mehple can be Special Summoned, and then can use it’s effect to change your opponent’s monster to defense. After that you can go for a Rank 3 Xyz. (again not recommended) With Chateau out, her defense is a beefy 2300. Also it should be noted that the monster she switches to defense stays that way until the end of your opponents turn.

Run 0-2. This is all based on your own preference.

When this card is destroyed by your opponent and sent to the Graveyard: Shuffle it into the Deck. When this card is Normal Summoned while there is another face-up "Madolche" monster: You can add 1 Field Spell Card from your Deck to the hand.
It a Terraforming on legs, and it pours tea! Butlerusk allows us to search out our Field Spell(only if there is another face-up Madolche on the field) which makes him a 2000 beater. There's nothing spectacular about him but he also isn't bad.

Run 0-1. Most of us run him at 1. Getting his effect isn't as hard as it sounds and thanks to Magileine you can fetch him if you need him. If you want, you can run two, but it might be overkill. *side note from redsmas* I recommend adding 2 Terraforming to your deck before considering this card.

EARTH Warrior / Effect
LV4 1700/1300
When this card is destroyed by your opponent and sent to the Graveyard: Shuffle it into the Deck. Your opponent cannot target "Madolche" monsters for an attack, except for "Madolche Chouxvalier".
His best aspect is that he has the highest attack of all Madolche monsters. With the Field Spell he becomes 2200 which is nice. He's our knight with a candy cane sword on his trusty little pony that protects the princess and the other Madolches. Because of his wording, he isn't able to do an attack lock however, he's a Warrior which means he can be fetched with Reinforcement of the Army.

0-3. This card is completely up to you. A lot of people run him at whatever they feel comfortable with. I recommend 1-2.

When this card is destroyed by your opponent and sent to the Graveyard: Shuffle this card into the Deck. When this card is Special Summoned, if you control a Beast-Type "Madolche" monster: You can add 1 "Madolche" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand.
Part of our new support from ABYR. Now this card is good for the simple reason that he searches out any of our spells or traps. Now some might think that having to control a Beast-Type Madolche out makes him useless, but that's far from the truth. Mewl makes him an auto search and also gives us an excuse to want to run him besides for getting out Puddingcess. Along with Madolche Ticket, this card will go off quite often and worst case scenario, he's a 21 beater with Chateau.

Overall good card. Run 1-3 (Depending on your preference.) I say 2.

When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into your Deck. When this card is flipped face-up: you can target 1 "Madolche" Spell/Trap Card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.
Another card from ABYR. This card is good, but limited in her uses for the time being unfortunately. Until we get a Normal Spell, i don't see her being very useful except for returning Chateau which our lovely Xyz can do as well, but she does return to hand so she can be useful. Also under Chateau she's a 2500 wall. Sh can potentially be used in combination with chateau in order to bait out your opponent's mystical space typhoons.

Alright card at the moment. Run 0-1 currently, in a slower format run 1-2.

Once per turn: You can target 1 other face-up "Madolche" card you control; return that target to the hand, and if you do, increase this card's Level by 1 and ATK by 300.
Amazing, simply amazing. Having the ability to bounce any Madolche card, and being able to become a 2300 beater with the field is just amazing. He can also become a lv4 with his effect which gives us access to our lovely and sweet queen. Cruffsant also gives us a better beast-type to have Messengelato go off with. Did I also mention he can set off Ticket and gain us even more plusses than we already gain??

Run 2-3. Besides Mewl, he's easily our best pet.

2 Level 4 "Madolche" monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target up to 2 "Madolche" cards in your Graveyard; shuffle those targets into the Deck, then shuffle the same number of cards your opponent controls into the Deck.
Finally our own Xyz and a good one at that! The Queen herself, she's quite sweet, but is not to be taken lightly. By detaching a material she can return up 2 Madolche cards(not just monsters) back to the deck and then spin, the same amount of cards you returned, cards your opponent controls back to the deck. This is by far recycling and field control at it's best and is a blessing to this archetype. With the new support she is quite easy to bring out and allows for so many plusses it makes my head spin. Oh and did i mention, with Chateau out, any monsters you return with her effect can be added to the hand instead? A 2700/2600 under Chateau truly makes her the reigning queen of the Madolches.

Absolutely amazing. Run 2-3. No reason not to.

Le pičce de résistance! Our field does a lot of things and everything it does is vital to our strategy. First, when activated it will shuffle our Madolche's that ended up in the grave back into the deck clearing the way for her majesty to do her magic.(Although that would be Magileine’s job) Second, it gives our monsters an attack and defense boost of 500. Most importantly, it returns our destroyed monsters not to the deck, but to our hands for massive hand advantage. This allows for constant searches with Magileine.

Run 3. This is what makes this deck viable and so great.

Continuous Spell
When a "Madolche" card on your side of the field or in your Graveyard is returned to your hand or Deck by a card effect: add 1 "Madolche" monster from your Deck to your hand. If you control a Fairy-Type "Madolche" monster, you can Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position instead of adding it to your hand. The effect of "Madolche Ticket" can only be used once per turn.
More ABYR support. This card is actually good. It's basically our Wind-Up Factory, but not stackable. This card combined with cards like Compulsory Evacuation Device, Compulsory Exiting Device, Transmigration Prophecy, our very own Madolche Chateau, and other cards like the listed make this card extremely useful and good. This card becomes even better with the Special Summoning clause. Some may think that it's limited due to the fact that you need a Fairy-Type Madolche to special summon, but it's not that hard to get out Puddingcess or our new Xyz. Allows for even more plusses. *side note from redsmas* With madolche ticket you can create more combinations with her. You can summon her with mewl, then have mewl suicide into an opponents monster which will allow ticket to summon another Puddingcess from deck. Another combination is having two Puddingcess (or one Puddingcess and one Tiaramisu) out and have one Puddingcess suicide into an opponent's monster (destroying a card) then using ticket to summon that same one back from your deck.

Run 1-2. 3 seems overkill especially since it's not stackable and can very easily be searched and recycled. *side note from redsmas* Running 3 can be advisable if you want to get to the card as quickly as possible.


III
::..:The Traps:..::

Our trap cards are interesting, but could be a bit sweeter. We’ll see if we get anymore support as exclusives or in ABYR.

Counter Normal
When a Spell/Trap card is activated, if you have no monsters in your Graveyard: Negate the activation, and if you do, return it to the hand, then if you control a face-up "Madolche Puddingcess", you can destroy 1 card your opponent controls.
This card is very interesting. It can negate but not destroy. It essentially becomes a pure troll card. The best thing to use this on is either an attack deterrent or entry hazards.(Namely Solemns as they will have to pay and waste Lifepoints).

*Right now different sources have the effect of this card as also being able to negate your own spell and traps. If that's the case, then this opens up a lot of plays with Puddingcess being out.

Run 0-2. In a pure or Puddingcess build this card could really shine, but I recommend none, unless you feel like trying it out.

Trap Normal
Target 1 "Madolche" monster in your Graveyard; shuffle that target into your Deck and have all "Madolche" monsters you control gain 800 ATK and DEF. Then, you can shuffle 1 monster from your Graveyard into the Deck.
We mustn't forget our manners while dueling and this card makes sure we don't. This is great for builds that use Chaos-End Master, Gadgets, or any other non-Madolche cards. It lets you control your Graveyard, recycle Madolches and gives them a permanent attack and defense boost. However some Madolches player don’t know that you can use this card more often than you think. When Madolches are destroyed, they do touch the grave first. When they do, you can chain Manners and return the card to the deck before the Madolche’s effect can activate. This is very useful knowledge and can lead to great plusses and can boost your Puddingcess to a whopping 3100Atk! This can also make our Queen at 3500 beatstick.

Run 0-2. It all depends on your build. This is personal preference, but if you know about the chaining to effect, it becomes a more useful card. With the Queen, this card isn't as useful, but still has a place with the Atk boost. 1 should still be considered.

Continuous Trap
After damage calculation, if a "Madolche" monster you control battled an opponent's monster: Inflict 300 damage to your opponent.
Every archetype has that one card that makes you say “Why?”, well, this one's ours. The burn isn't really worth it and it doesn't help any of the other Madolches.

Run 0. Just terrible. Recently, we came across the Waltz/Desperate Tag loop which doesn't make this card as useless, however, it's not very consistent and other builds should be pursued instead.

Madolche Happy Festa
Special Summon any number of "Madolche" monsters from your hand. During the End Phase, all monsters that were Special Summoned by this effect are shuffled into the Deck(s).
Another good card from ABYR. This card not only allows swarming, but opens up for making big plays and pushes with Xyzs and gaining the field advantage Madolches need, with Tiaramisu and other Xyzs. To be honest, i see no real drawback to this card minus it not working with Chateau. Assuming you still have Madolches out at the end of the turn with Ticket out, you can also search and potentially special summon(If you have Puddingcess or decided to Xyz into Tiaramisu). Since it says special summon, it gives us another chance to use Messengelato, and with Ticket out, it's very possible to gain 2 Spell/Traps from your deck with little to no effort at all. It also give you an instant target for Tiaramisu in your graveyard. It's as easy as pie!

Solid card and gives us that extra power we need for pushes. Run 1-2.

.::Tech Cards::.

- Monsters -

Battle Fader
He protects you when needed and can be tribute fodder for Madolche Puddingcess. When he leaves the field when specialed with his effect, he removes himself which benefits our Princess by not clogging the Graveyard. It's great in all builds really.

Chaos End Master
He's a Tuner which opens up options, but most importantly he can special summon Puddingcess from the Deck. He's also a Warrior which when run alongside Chouxvalier makes RotA a lot more live.

D.D. Warrior Lady
Some people run her to give ROTA an extra target and for her banishing effect. She’s okay in the deck if you feel like teching something to get rid of walls or beaters.

Genex Ally Birdman
He lets you reuse Majoleine, Mille, Mouple or any other Madolche. He opens up the way for Synchros and Xyzs with Mouple and Mille-Feuille. Combined with Butlerusk or Majoleine he can make Arcanite Magician and when he leaves the field he's removed, which also benefits the no grave strategy, which isn't as necessary now with the Queen.

Green Gadget/Red Gadget/Yellow Gadget
If you run Ultimate Offering, and have the space, the Gadgets, alongside Majoleine thin the deck and swarm the field in fast, incredible ways. They also open the way for rank 4 Xyz Summons.

Esper Girl/Psychic Commander/Psychic Jumper
Let’s not forget that the Madolche are all EARTH Attribute. Which means running the Emergency Teleport engine lets you go into Naturia Synchros for extra control.

Naturia Cherries
On that note, Naturia Cherries is a level 1 Tuner that thins the deck by two when destroyed. Since most Madolche are level 4, making Naturia Beast is simple with this card. She also fuels the grave just enough to play Manners.


Guardian Eatos
She's a simple 2500 beater that we can summon easily enough. She doesn't necessarily add anything to the deck except a bit of muscle power. Honestly, this card is bad, but it has it’s uses I guess. Don’t run it unless you really like it. *side note from redsmas* Be warned, she can become a dead card you won't always have no monster in the grave.

- Spells -

Here's a quick lesson for future Madolche players: Protect the Princess!

Forbidden Lance
Very useful card with two functions. The first which allows allows you to reduce the attack of your opponent's monster. The other allows you to protect your monsters from card like Torrential Tribute and Bottomless Trap Hole.

Book of Moon
Format staple that can be used both offensively and defensively.

Pot of Duality
Which deck does this card not help really? In our favor though, we don't Special Summon a lot, if at all, so the no Special Summoning doesn't hurt Madolches at all. Run 3.

Terraforming
No more than 1-2 should be run. Remember that we do have Butlerusk.

Shard of Greed
Slow? Yes. But it can draw you two cards, and at worst it will lure away that MST letting your Field Spell Card survive. Personal preference card.

Burden of the Mighty
Great card for side against decks with big beaters like Chaos Dragons. Siding 2 is ideal. You can main deck it if you like. Forces your opponent to overextend a lot.

Instant Fusion
Has the possibility to help with Xyz plays.

Double Summon
Normally -1 but because of the +1 you get form summoning a lot of the madolche it pays for itself.

- Traps-

Safe Zone
In almost all builds(Control Especially) this will be a must. It lets Puddingcess survive every battle and pop cards left and right, and it can also be used offensively to protect yourself from effects.

Compulsory Evacuation/Exiting Device
With Ticket coming out, both compulses have an even better role in us gaining plusses. Exiting will probably replace Evac since it bounces their card as well and activates Ticket.

The Transmigration Prophecy
Definitely a card worth considering. Bounces any 2 cards from either players graveyards back to the deck. Gets back our key cards like Chateau or any other support cards we run, or any Madolches that ended up in the grave. It's also great for getting rid of those Hunters, Hornets, or Graphas in the graveyard. Main or side as many that is allowed. 1 ATM.

Dark Bribe
It protects you where Starlight and The Huge Revolution is Over can’t. It can save your Chateau from MSTs and other backrow hate making your Madolches harder to beat.

The Huge Revolution is Over
We run a lot of backrow and protection. This card saves you from Heavy, Celestia, Dark Hole, etc. Arguably better than Starlight as Solemn Warning can't be used against it and it needs any two cards (not just yours) to be destroyed. The more versatile card.

Starlight Road
Solemn Warning can be used against it which kinda sucks but it puts a Stardust Dragon on the field. Either way it does protect your back row.

Ultimate Offering
With Majoleine at 3 and most of our monsters getting their effects when Normal Summoned, this card lets you swarm the field and Xyz while still using your monster effects. It also gives you the option of running the Gadgets for extra toolboxing. It has its own build. With our Queen, this opens up to major swarms and plusses that just can't be matched. This card is now extremely useful to the deck, but can become a personal preference card.

-Side Deck-

Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror
Inzektors, Dark Worlds, Chaos Dragons, need i say more? Side 2-3

Light-Imprisoning Mirror
Hieratics are coming up so it stops them. Stops Pulsar, Eclipse, and the Lightsworn engine. Side 2.

Imperial Iron Wall
Stops Chaos Dragons cold, and it prevents you from being Dimensional Prisoned or Macro/Dimensional Fissure. Side 2

Bottomless Trap Hole
Good side against Dino Rabbits and Chaos Dragons on occasion. Side 2

Gozen Match
We only run Earth Attribute(Minus Battle Fader or Cyber Valley if you use them) Hurts Rabbits and Chaos Dragons. We don't ever Xyz or Synchro that much(depends on your build) so it works great for us. Side 2

Summon Limit
Why not hurt the meta and limit what they can do? It certainly doesn't hurt us one bit considering we only summon up to twice per turn anyway. No more Rabbit Shenanigans. Side 1-2. Personal preference. *side note from redsmas* Due to the Shift in playstyle post-ABYR this card may no longer be as useful.

-Extra Deck-

M-X-Saber Invoker
Very easy to summon using mewl. Gives you an extra way to pull out messengelato, as well as immediately putting a madolche into the grave for tiaramisu.
Invoker combos (Warwolf can be replaced with any other method of getting a level 3 on the field)

Fairy King Alverd
This card was pretty much made for us. All of out monsters are earth and he just makes things all the sweeter.

::.::Final Thoughts::.::

Madolche is a very versatile deck and can be tricky to beat. They refuse to die and are too cute to ignore. Keep in mind that their effects only activate when your opponent destroys them, so keep in mind when you Torrential Tribute or Dark Hole yourself. For being brand new, the Madolche were given a fair amount to work with, although we could use more. However, it's our job to make the most out of them. They're amazingly adorable which just makes trolling your opponent with them all the more sweeter.
This deck keeps becoming more viable with each new card revealed, and is surely to become a competitive deck that'll give you a run for your money, and certainly cause cavities

If you're opponent questions something, or if you're just not sure on something, refer to here.

Madolche Destruction:
Madolche's effect work even when Solemned! If you're opponent questions it, or if you just didn't know, refer to here.

Madolche Puddingcess:
Madolche Puddincess' effect activates after damage calculation, and goes off whether she lives or dies.

Safe Zone:
Just realize that if you're opponent blows up a Madolche equipped with Safe Zone, they will go to grave. If it was your Safe Zone of course.

Madolche Manners:
Can be chained to the destruction of a Madolche and you can send it back to the deck before its effect activates. Free boosts.

Creature Swap/Enemy Controller/TG1-EM1
Madolches do specify that they do need to be destroyed by your opponent's card so if they take it and kill it, it'll hit grave. This includes you taking their card and using it to destroy the madolche you give them. Beware!

Field Spells
You can activate another field spell while you already control one. The previous one will just be replaced.

Tiaramisu
***IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE HER EFFECT YOU MUST ALREADY HAVE A TARGET IN GRAVE. BUT YOU CAN RETURN THE MONSTER YOU DETACH***

for the problem mentioned earlier, I'd like to mention that I've been testing had destruction
have yet to draw my 1 copy of it, though

also, about the opponent's card issue with madolche... if I Creature Swap and attack a madolche with the stolen monsters, does that trigger madolche eff or no?

So like summon Chouxvalier, Creature Swap Chouxvalier for Thunder King or something, then run over Chouxvalier with the Thunder King? Not sure if it'd trigger the effect. It kinda is the opponent's card, but under your control. But I'd imagine no shuffling to the deck.

Nice. The only other question I have, is there a way to special summon Messengelato in that deck other than the Call Of The Haunted? And possibly Invoker? If not I'd swap 1 for another Chouxvalier and 1 for Mageleine.

Guys I think this got lost on the thread moving, can I use the Queen's effect to shuffle my stuff from the grave even if the opponent has less card than I must shuffle back/has no cards at all?

The wording makes the shuffle your stuff seem like a cost so can I pay it even if the effect will fail I think.

This archetype got so many different rulings to learn and it's damn hard to explain them all to opponents on DN. Weirdly the hardest one for people to notice is that the field gives +500 Attack/Defense...

The English versions of Madolche monsters say "When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Shuffle this card into your Deck." So no, Creature Swap wouldn't work.

Currently it's been translated that Tiaramisu targets the Madolche cards in your Graveyard, and they're shuffled into your Deck when the effect resolves.

in response to the tiaramisu question, I would also like to add that you can't target for returning more cards than your opponent controls
however, I wonder what would happen if your opponent decresed their field size after you targetted two madolche in grave...


in response to the Creature Swap thing, I was specifically talking about attacking the madolche with the monster I stole which would actually be the opponent's card, not my own, and I was wondering if the effect of the madolche would activate at that point, not when I attack a swapped madolche with any other card
