Default Confused over damage counters.

I have recently just have gotten back into pokemon after many years and I basically remember everything about it. But what I don't understand is some rulings over damage counters.

Let's say I have a Zoroark from dark explorers as my active pokemon and it has been dealt 60 damage from my opponent. I would change the counters from six 10 counters into one 10 counter and one 50, but would that make Zoroark's Dark rush ability do 40 damage or do the 50 counters count as five then will he do 120? Very confused and important with my Gengar deck I am making.

Thank you for all who answer.

He would do 120. The "50" damage counter represents 5 regular damage counters.

Just an idea, but consider using dice? D20s are perfect, but even just enough 6-sided dice works.

This was how my friends and I managed life points when we were playing the game last summer, and it made keeping track/managing damage much easier.
