Default Number 9: Dyson Sphere

From Eva:

Numbers 9 Tengaisei Dyson Sphere (Number 9: Dyson Sphere, the Sky Enveloper)
Light Machine / Xyz / Effect
RK9 2800/3000 2 Level 9 monsters
Once per Battle Step in which this card with Xyz Material is targeted for an attack: Negate that attack. When this card is targeted for an attack while it has no Xyz Material: You can target 2 monsters in your Graveyard; attach those targets to this card as Xyz Materials. If your opponent controls a monster with higher ATK than this card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this card can attack your opponent directly this turn.

Apart from the fact it's next to impossible to get out... WTF?! That's ridiculous.

Eh, it sounds trash to me. Yes it's pretty much immune to battle, but that's wasted on the fact that it has 2800 atk/3000 def anyway. It also needs to be attacked to get it's defensive effect, and with that high of an attack, 99% of the time your opponent will rather just use a spell/trap/monster effect to clear it out of the way as opposed to take it down through battle, it's stats completely render it's effect useless

Only use I can see is waiting for the opponent to summon something with 2800+ atk, somehow pull out 2 level 9's, then summon this guy, getting one direct attack at their life points and see what happens next turn whether they use CED on Number 9 or what ever else

You're meant to use tanhauser gate + the level 5 thing and a lv4 monster.

wow, that'll be hard to defeat in battle unless its facing against two high atk monsters. just a bit of a challenge to get out for not much effect protection. I like the art. it looks like a space flower.

One question though: Does the 2nd effect work in correlation with the first effect (meaning it can attach material and then negate an attack, or is the atk negation miss its timing)?

From the anime descriptions I thought it had an effect that prevented it from being atacked and all as well as a destruction/burn effect.

Gottoms and Galaxy Queen's Light. But still not worth the effort.

Totally worth the effort. It is the only xyz monster worth reviving.

Evoltite Westlo + Evolsaur Elias + Tannhauser Gate. Not the most efficient way to use the Evols, but the chance to use an awesome sci-fi concept turned into an awesome card? I'll tap that.

That's actually a really good suggestion. Getting this thing out turn 2 with some backrow protection could mean GG easily.

And then your opponent Bottomless' it and you cry on the inside.

It's a huge investment for one monster, and realistically isn't ever going to hit the field. But if it does, and it doesn't get Compulsed/Warninged/Botommlessed/Torrentialed/Mirror Forced/Dark Holed/Smashing Ground etc etc etc... Well, then it'll be a pain to get rid of

LOL, huge investment?

Westlo bringing out Elias = +1
using Tannhauser Gate = +0
XYZ into Number 9 = -1

so you -1 to bring out a huge beatstick that's hard to get off the field. Btw, Evols DO play mst/heavy/lance/judgment, if we're going the "theorymon" route.

That is beautiful.

Unfortunately, if Cyber Dragon ever gets hungry, just find one of those.

Aside from that, I wish it had more protection. With 3000 DEF, "Smashing Ground" says good day sir.

Just to make sure we all know there is a difference between the Battle Phase and the Battle Step right?
