Default Malevolent catastrophe

So, I was at locals the other day and this guy played Malevolent catastrophe against me. Totally took me by surprise and was actually effective at putting me at a minus because I lost two traps.

I feel like this could have potential in a side deck. Thoughts?

Its Heavy Storm at 3

Too bad it relies on battle. Wonder why people don't play Mirror Force anymore?

MST at 3, and Storm. Most people don't even run all 4 at once. Could be good tech, but I dunno. With a few Torrentials, Dark Hole and the mentioned Heavy, I fear SLR

Didn't even see (much) play in 2 MST format, due to the reasoning that when you're getting attacked, your opponent's backrow is not your primary concern.

Most players usually clear backrows before going for the OTK or they don't even main that much traps and the ones that play with large Backrows either have SLR or is Dino Rabbits with Laggia on board.

So really not that useful. Even Heavy is not that reliable those days.

Most people's comments seem to imply the use of this card in the main deck.

As a side deck card, this could be a nightmare against and deck that uses field spells or spell/traps for protection, on top of your heavy storm. Side deck. Not all decks, lol. Nighty night crystal beasts.

And to the above mirror force comment: most decks rely on battle damage to win, with the select few like inzektors that blow up all your back row before inflicting their battle damage. Mirror force is a card your opponent has to get rid of, or it will likely put them at a minus.

Kikoshin is right. This is a very backrow-light format. We have max backrow hate, plus meta decks that have insane removal prowess. Mirror Force is absent in a lot of decks, for good reason. Its not reactive, and just gets blown up. Malevolent Catastrophe is like Mirror Force for S/Ts, which is even more underwhelming.

I have to imagine that the later banlist is going to cut down on some of our S/T removal, if only because we're getting more of it in the form of "Storm" and "Night Shot" in upcoming packs. So as a side deck it might be worth putting in a future format.

I did find it very useful against Gravekeepers when we had the Heavy-less format.

Because HS makes you look like a fool for running balanced traps?
