Default What's the better game yugioh or Pokemon

In my opinion pokemon is a billion times better mechanically format and skill wise

In Pokemon u play around what ur opponent does and beat them

In yugioh u just stop what they do so u dont have to play around it

Company wise Nintendo > konami nuff said

So what do you think is better yugioh or pokemon lmk and post reasons why
  • Yugioh
  • Pokemon

being truthfull pokemon is better in these ways:

price
community -stealing/cheating/sharking
banlist/rotation

id side with pokemon due to quitting yugioh after judges became beyond pathetic. (long story was personnel reasons).

id rather spend Ł100 for a deck, than Ł800+ for a deck that gets destroyed after several months. granted cards in pokemon guarenteed to last a year or bit more. in yugioh i find they die or reprint announced and due to value of the card shooting down so fast you feel like you lost money out your wallet.

I sense bias, but from what I heard about Pokemon, I do have to say from that alone as a Yu-gi-oh player, Pokemon seems considerably more enjoyable as a card game in general.

I like pokemon better because it requires resources (energy) and doesn't use life points. However, the amount of card draw in this game compared to YGO is pretty insane. But I guess that is a good thing since without it games would go suuuuuuuuuper slowly and it becomes impossible to come back from a loss.

Only problem with this is that it is based in the Pokemon section so only those Yu-gi-oh fans who check this will post thus giving the idea everyone perfers pokemon.

You dislike the card game because you hate the current Unova Region Pokemon and Gen 5. Most people are biased as to say that Gen 1 and 2 are the best while 3 and 4 were the last great Pokemon Generations.

wrong. I quite like Black and white, I do own the games. I'll tell you why, the card game doesn't bring its full potential of battling. Hell when I was into the card game I was only collecting them, I never knew or cared to play the card game.

yea, and same vise versa. it is kinda pointless the voting poll but its a good way to hear reasons why people pick pokemon

The Full Potential of Battling Part I know why, it's because of how the format has changed where you see less Evolutions battling in favor of more Basics battling.

wrong, I'm not a copy catter that goes by formats what "winners..." do to desperately win.. I hope your referring to those who can't evolve like zangoose, serviper, etc...

This is a pokemon SECTION, so you'll find people who are into pokemon. Pokemon>YuGiOh. Let me put it one way. YuGiOh is really only about card games. Pokemon on the other hand, branches out into many things, and still does very well in the TCG part (Not that the other parts don't!). But, you know, Pokemon (TCG) isn't as well known or as thought about as YuGiOh. When I was a child, I didn't understand the Pokemon TCG (Never read or felt like reading a rule book). The only reason I understood and preferred YuGiOh at the time a bit was because there was a show on it. I did like the Pokemon cards, though.

i personally play yugioh and i played a little pokemon back during stormfront, dusknoir was my ****. unfortunatly i quit because theres not alot of supported play and if i were to play i had to travel about 45 mins to the closest league. i enjoyed the game but i felt it had a very low learning curve, which i guess makes it more user friendly.

yugioh i would say is overall the more skilled game, but theres times like now where the format just gets really ****ty and they release the most stupid overpowered cards. kinda like in pokemon with mewtwo ex and such.

another thing i strongly dislike about pokemon is how its pretty much just modified. like atleast in magic i can buy a playset of cards to play in standard and they still retain value when they cycle out due to other formats. pokemon the only way you can get rid of old stuff is for cheap to collectors or people who are just fans. like i'm still trying to get a aquapolis crystal kingdra just because i love dragons and the crystal cards were cool.

i do however like the fact that they are finally releasing dragon types into the TCG, seems like its been long overdue. overall, i would say yugioh is better but im obviously biased.

Additional Comment:

op, im not sure you've ever actually played yugioh. playing around cards is def one of the things that makes a good player. oh dear, theres some interaction between the players, you dont always have something to stop their push.

Depending upon the card and the general rarity, some will retain some value [the * cards are the main culprit here] and the Lv X cards retain some value, but nothing like they were when they were played.

And Pokemon has a LOT of supported play, it's just not particularly near where you live, which I certainly wouldn't qualify as having low amounts of supported play. No company can cover every city within whichever country you reside in. That would be insane to even think about.

I don't really see how a low learning curve makes for anything negative. It makes it a lot easier for people to pick up and play the game straight from a Theme Deck as opposed to having to look everything up on the internet or from a friend. The game is specifically targeted towards children, so of course the game is going to be set up for children to easily learn, as opposed to YGO's copious amounts of rulings and other miscellaneous things someone would need to learn before playing almost any deck.

I do agree that Dragons were a bit overdue. But you have to think, they would have to think awhile about how the new type would affect the game. In the older generations, it would have made certain cards extremely good because they would only be weak to another dragon, so everyone would have to run nearly the same deck in order to counter the type.
