Oh it's cool don't worry about it. I'm kinda on edge lately cause I've been sick for a week so yeah. Anyway...
When it comes down to both Kaijudo and Vanguard I want to get into a new TCG that is a safer investment to get into. It doesn't make sense why I would keep playing Vanguard If nobody is going to support the game in favor of Kaijudo. It's all determined by which game has the stronger following and the stronger franchise marketing, all signs are pointing to Kaijudo but it really depends and time will only tell which is the better TCG.

I find it interesting that people believe that DM was 'watered down MTG'. I always considered it updated or streamlined. The change to the mana system alone is a great improvement IMO. Not as good as what they did with Battle Spirits but still better then MTG in that aspect. The shields were kinda give or take but they did spice up the game a good bit which is what Japanese games like to do. Like with Battle Spirits adding the Burst system to their game which is like a trap system.

oh please heavens above, no game feuding.
what did fighting with MTG and YGO get us back then? enemies. seriously, it's the dumbest activity ever. of course fans of a game are going to prefer the game they play over others. but actively bashing another game is just malice. yeah i know games are in competition for players and money. but that doesnt throw out the rules of human civility. play ur game. love ur game. that stuff - does not order u to bash on or hate or troll another game. -EVEN- if other games' fans are bashing urs. not participating in a feud doesnt make u a coward or less of a fan, it makes u a freaking decent person.
now discussing the merits of one game to another? that's cool. that's what TCG players do, same as video game players so. but when it devolves into which game is better? that tends to get messed up in a mesh of personal preferences.

..like, really? They gave us MtG starter decks as an entry prize at DM Continentals.
But by the looks of it, whether or not WotC is using Kaijudo to attract a younger audience (which they are) should be irrelevant, because they know DM is a good game and successful in Japan, and all the signs point to them working very hard on Kaijudo and making it a big thing. So I have no doubt that they'll do their best to help it stick around.

THIS (even though idk anything about battle spirits). The mana system is an incredibly awesome system. I didn't even fully recognize its importance until long after the game died and I started really thinking about how important it is to conserve certain resources.
Shields have their moments when they contribute to the luck factor, but overall I like them, just for the fact that it's the one thing that keeps aggression in check. Usually attacking into an opposing clear field would be optimal in any game, but in DM, it makes you think twice because breaking a shield is giving your opponent more cards, and card advantage obviously plays a big part in deciding games. Shields keep aggression balanced a lot of times.

The Mana system made 4 and 5 color decks way to easy to make. Duel Masters is like Chess and Magic with all its extra variables is like 3-D Chess.
The rarity structure and clan system in Vanguard makes multiple playsets of RR and RRR cards a requirement for competitive play and in turn makes the game very expensive. I think Kaijudo will be a lot cheaper and in turn attract more players. Wizards will also be very good to us with promos and great organized play.

I'll be definitely playing this game. I'll try to get my locals to stock this game. If not, I'll just bring a few decks and get some of the people there to play with me until they all demand local tournaments.

I don't think it should be an issue. Wizards is pushing this game hard.

Good. I'm getting a bit tired of only playing Yugioh, and the MTG crowd at my locals is not one I want to get associated with. They creep me out. I'm pretty sure I can get my Yugioh crowd to play this game.

It's too bad the Kaijudo TCG isn't released til June this year, now I have to wait 2 more months just to try the game out. Sounds like it'll be worth the wait with all the work Wizards and Hasbro are putting into it.

European Update:
I've been told that I'll be doing some form of a launch event, WoTC has been onto my TO(we are an advanced WPN store, running one of the World Magic Cup Qualifiers here and soon possibly a PTQ) about the game. He stated that they do seem to really be pushing it but with no concrete details yet(obviously Europe will be told even less till the game comes out here...).
I'm planning to become a Magic judge over the next few months so I can see that helping me out with this game.

I'd assume they focus on America in summer and then in September when the products gets sold on mass market they can sell it in Europe even with a TV deal for Kaijudo in Europe.

i love Duel Masters, i just do not agree with having all the awesome art in old series stay in Japan and instead being stuck with this weird american cartoon art. it makes it even more kiddy than it should be and gives off the impression that only kids should play this and NO ONE ELSE, which i feel is wrong because DM is fun for EVERYBODY. maybe someone can do some nice full art inserts so i can be spared the attack on my eyes.

Agreed 100%. Magic's mana system is so archaic and tiring. Flooding and mana-screw are a huge problem with the game, as well as the cost of dual lands (which are needed for competitive play). I agree with CVH on shields, as they create an interesting game state even on a clear board.

Have you even seen the cards? The art for Rumbling Terrasaur is the DM-18 art for Rumbling Terrahorn and Tornado Flame has Cyclone Panic's artwork. It looks fine. If you don't like the animation style of the cartoon, great, don't watch it. A lot of us don't have any plans of watching the show.

Yeah, so far, the vast majority of the card art is either from DM or definitely up to par with it.

I hope we get lots of foil and alternate art promos. That was once thing I always liked about duel masters. You always got a lot of promos and free stuff at events. The amount of product given out at 5 civs was crazy.
I just hope we don't get any promo only cards.

I'm sure we will get lots of promos. Wizards does a new promo every month for FNM, as well as tons for other various events for Magic. They had a HUGE amount of Pokemon promos when they had that license, as well as the English Duel Masters sets. In Japan, they print an insane amount of promos each year.

Now this, I have no idea. Duel Masters in English and Japanese had exclusive Promo cards, but Magic only gets these in the form of the holiday cards. I hope they don't do Promo-only stuff, but I'm happy with any sort of Promo.

I'm just looking forward to event mats and binders and stuff. I think Kaijudo branded products as promotional stuff would far exceed just promo cards and something I'm hoping they'll do. We'll see i guess.

Never really seen any Deck sleeves produced for the DM Brand, although I think they were in the sealed section :/

You mean card sleeves? DM card sleeves exist, but like most picture sleeves they're just not great quality.

They made some with a few different creatures here in the states, and with every set in Japan they make a matching sleeve/deck box set.

Duel Masters came out in Europe at the exact same time it came out in the states. This is WoTC, Magic comes out worldwide on the same day everywhere, they know how much this sort of thing hinders a game, they are not Bushiroad or worst TCO(Chaotic) or even worst Bandai(Naruto). If they for some reason don't bring it out at the same time in Europe I WILL NOT pick up the game. I do not like being behind on releases, as they are then required to speed these up which makes it hard to keep up with a game.
