so apparently Info released suggests / portrays that

Chris Evans' Top Gear lost a third of its iPlayer audience during series

Also These graphs show how ‘Top Gear’s’ online audience plummeted under Chris Evans

Grim Viewing Indeed

Throwing Caution to the wind - Chris Evans might be a lucky man indeed

Back OT: - The same production company was used for both Top Gear + Robot Wars - but for the reboot of the cult competition, which ran from 1998 to 2004 - ending up on Channel 5 for its final few months - we had a new set, new presenters and potentially a new favourite robot in the savage Carbide. We got to see more of the makers than before, witnessed the chaos of new four-way robot fights and, best of all, our favourite House Robots were back to play with little modifications made.

Meanwhile yeah truth be told probably Top Gear has sloped off to lick its wounds after being attacked by critics and viewers alike. Chris Evans had already jumped ship, and its future hangs in the balance after viewing figures dropped to record lows.

Kinda ironic Robot Wars may be the replacement to Top Gear that Evans, LeBlanc and co could never muster.

Dara O’Briain revels in his role as presenter - Though it doesn’t feel like he’s been given quite enough room to improvise yet, O’Briain’s presence as the figurehead of Robot Wars 2016 was an astute move. While some will miss the manic, trench-coated Craig Charles, O’Briain brings a dry wit that keeps the show light and entertaining. He would probably have been an ideal Top Gear host if he was actually, y'know, into cars - while Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc seemed interesting choices on paper, they simply couldn’t live up to the childish, blokey legacy that Clarkson and the fellas left in their wake.

The House Robots are back, and more vicious than ever: Sparking joy in the hearts of former eight-year-olds everywhere, we saw the return of some formidable friends, the ferocious House Robots. The bulldozing might of Shunt, the petrol-fuelled powerhouse Sir Killalot and the spiked mutant beast Matilda are all back and bigger than ever. As much as we all love The Stig, these silent killers have come to reclaim their throne, though we must take a moment of silence in memory of Refbot, who did not make the transition to 2016. Our thoughts are with his family. Altho seems SRGNT Bash will make a debut later on in this series at some point / stage possibly as a rebooted Major Tom perhaps?

Jonathan Pearce is still the best robot fight commentator in the land- I mean from someone who regularly listens to Football commentary everytime there is a match on BBC Radio - to take a top football commentator, put him in a dystopian gladiatorial arena and hear him roar. That was the original plan, and Jonathan Pearce is still bringing the drama to Robot Wars. At moments in this first episode, he broke into uncontrollable laughter, and it’s hard not to smile at how excited he gets at bits of metal flinging themselves at each other. Reminiscent of old times whereas Top Gear well seems too rescripted repeatedly and not fluent and certainly not as socially enjoyable as before - stiffled - inserted forced laughter - out of place with rest of monotone commentary ...

Angela Scanlon brings a much needed female presence, and it feels like she’s been here for years - Though O’Briain is the star pull, his co-presenter Scanlon is the one that truly shines, feeling right at home quizzing the creators in the back room. Top Gear could learn a thing or two from Robot Wars about giving their female experts equal air-time, as we’re sure Sabine Schmitz would testify to.

The robot’s creators make the show weirdly relatable - While Top Gear always tended to focus on cars out of most people’s price ranges, the friendship and banter between the hosts was something most could relate to. Without that real bond, all we are left with are the supercars, creating a disconnect between audience and show.

Robot Wars, on the other hand, fits surprisingly well into a tried and trusted BBC format – following members of the public compete for glory in their niche skill. We honestly didn’t expect to see Robot Wars as the new Great British Bake Off, but seeing regular people lovingly showcase their working, moving, smashing robots could really be a national craze once more.

...

ofc i dont want to turn this into a Robot Wars thread but Top Gear could defo do with following in Robot's footsteps and learning a thing or two or ten to improve their own game before filming any next potential as of yet undecided series sadly ..

Seriously Robot Wars dont even have half the budget that Top Gear does / did ... infact considerably less and they've managed to work wonders - they dont pay Celebs to come on the show and they certainly dont pay the judges to judge on the show - atleast 2 of em have confirmed they more or less do it free / voluntarily ...

Additional Comment:

So whilst Top Gears Magazine sales took a hit

Le Blanc still unsure if hes due to return is still willing to want to return

how depsressing ..

Seems that the BBC don't know what to do with Top Gear after the reboot wasn't successful

Apparently Matt will be back with a Pay Rise

Quote:
  • Despite bieng Initially coy about his future, Matt LeBlanc looks set for a Top Gear return
  • Matt LeBlanc has agreed to return to Top Gear and may even double his money with a new £1m deal.
  • In Los Angeles on Wednesday promoting his new sitcom Man With A Plan, Matt was asked about doing more Top Gear and insisted: “I don’t know. I’d like to. There’s nothing officially happening yet. Follow the BBC.”
  • However, BBC insiders have now told the Mirror that coy Matt has verbally agreed to return and will sign a new one year deal shortly.
  • Chris Evans, who quit in July, had a £1m deal and Matt was reportedly on £500,000 for the last series.

It seems like an eternity since Jeremy Clarkson got the boot from the BBC following his infamous fracas with a Top Gear producer. All we know is that its expected Autumn of this year so my guess is around Oct / Nov before Dec and in a way fair play - Amazon has kept its cards close to its chest and little is known about the content of the show, except that it'll feature multiple countries and studio sections filmed in front of an audience. one reason the beebs not rushin into makin a second series of Top Gear with Blanc so soon after Evans Car Crash Debut

Also a lil info heads up

But all we now know is it will premiere on Amazon Prime, therefore only being available to those who pay for Amazon’s premium subscription service. To watch the show, you’ll have to pay for either an Amazon Video subscription (£5.99 per month) or the full Prime package (£7.99 per month or £79 per year). While there's a 30-day free trial for the Prime service, it's currently unclear whether this will extend to the new show. We think it's unlikely Amazon will impose any restrictions given that it's trying to promote the new show.

What we do know for sure is that Amazon is planning on releasing the show on a weekly basis, rather than in Prime's standard, binge-able, 'here's everything at once' format. In terms of deals, students can get a 6-month free trial of the Prime service, which if timed correctly will see them through the first series. Once this runs out, students will be eligible to get the service for half price.

After last season's fairly rocky post-Clarkson era start, opening with a ratings drop and ending with Chris Evans' departure from the show, Top Gear now returns with a re-adjusted line-up or so according to the latest new trailer shown a few days ago(ish)

Matt LeBlanc now takes the centre seat, with support from co-hosts Rory Reid and Chris Harris, in the first trailer for season 24; placing the focus squarely away from any internal dramas, and onto the series' penchant for high-octane automotive stunts.

That includes drifting a 1,036bhp Ferrari FXX K, a car chase with Aston Martin’s new DB11, racing across the Kazakhstan wilderness, and picking up naked hitchhikers in an Avtoros Shaman.

Though the BBC may be hoping to develop the trio of LeBlanc, Reid, and Harris as the new Clarkson, Hammond, and May -with the latter starring in their own Amazon show, The Grand Tour - it appears LeBlanc is still essentially acting as the show's main host for now, with the others bumped up from their previous, smaller supporting roles.

Quote:
LeBlanc signed a reported £2 million deal to remain on Top Gear; with Patrick Holland, BBC Two's Channel Editor, stating at the time: "I am thrilled that Matt LeBlanc is returning to Top Gear. He's a huge talent whose love of cars is infectious. I can't wait for the series to return to BBC Two next year."

Mark Linsey, Director of BBC Studios added: "Matt was hugely popular with Top Gear viewers last series with his humour, warmth and obvious passion for cars and for the show, so I couldn’t be more delighted that he’s agreed to come back and do more for us."

Seems solid, it seems to be trying to recapture the Clarkson era magic after last year trying to ignore it. Still time will tell

Well BBC America has yet to announce a premiere date for the new season.

Evidently - not everyone has gone down likin it - it seems to be somewhat widely condemned by former fans

Quote:
  • ‘Who the ********** hell are they with Joey Tribiarni’, wrote one bemused watcher on Twitter.
  • Another user said the new presenting trio could never ‘recreate the magic’ of the show’s former presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, who now present Grand Tour on Amazon.
  • Others said despite Matt Le Blanc’s handsome looks they would not be tuning in, and some users said the BBC needed to park the show.
Despite a backlash from fans, the BBC are soldiering on with Series 24 of Top Gear – and they’re banking on hopes that their three stars will be able to replicate the success of the holy trinity that was Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Because obviously, when you’re going up against the biggest names in the business, the best thing to do is imitate them…

Quote:
A source said: “The new trailer clearly shows the BBC attempting to establish the hosts as a trio. They had such great success with the former team, so it’s no surprise they’re hoping the formula will work once more.”
The new preview trailer for Series 24 (above) has so far been unable to win over the internet, receiving a mixed reaction amongst fans of the old show. ‘Who the ****ing hell are they with Joey Tribiarni’, wrote one bemused watcher on Twitter.

Others are simply happy to have another motoring show to watch, while The Grand Tour is on break.

(seems like a logical time for the Beeb to cash in on it or only time for it)

The BBC are hoping that the refinements made to the presenter lineup will help improve Top Gear’s ratings, after fans criticised the amount of presenters brought on board for Series 23 – and the fact that one of them was rather shouty.

So in a way, Matt LeBlanc is playing Jeremy Clarkson, Chris Harris is Richard Hammond, and Rory Reid is James May. But will they be able to recreate the magic of Top Gear’s glory days? Well, hopefully we won’t need to wait long to find out.

Either way I jus hope we get to see a bit more involvement of the Stig in this series - he was almost invisible in the last one - one of the things I liked about the previos Trio was that atleast they were times they inc the Stig in their eps not jus drivin Cars round the tes track but in other challenges as well ...

Seems strange for the beeb to be keepin their star asset of the show caged up and not usin it other than Media advertisement and publicity ...

The only advantage top gear has over the Grand Tour is that more people can watch it. Nearly everyone has BBC2 but not everyone has Amazon. I wish that the Grand Tour would get a regular release, but hopefully it will come out on DVD

So Top Gear producers ditch last traces of former host Chris Evans by ridding show of beloved Mini Cooper and Star in the Rallycross Car segment

Quote:
  • Bosses have also replaced his beloved Mini Cooper with a rear-wheel drive Toyota GT86 for the celebs to zip around in
  • Bosses are hopeful MATT LeBLANC, RORY REID and CHRIS HARRIS will do the business As The GT86 is brilliant to drive but also risky.
  • “This time the celebs will be taught by both Chris Harris and THE STIG, so they’ll be in safe hands.”

Well Heres Hopin Some of the cars in the show end up in better condition than this one ..

Quote:
A DRIVER who borrowed his friend’s £900,000 Lamborghini to go to a party wrote it off after crashing into a palm tree.

Satinrawat Khampiranon, 32, jumped in the black Murcialago SuperVeloce after eating at a restaurant with pals in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Lamborghini Murcialago flew off the road before clipping other vehicles and smashing into a tree.

The driver had only just borrowed the £900,000 supercar hours before the smash in Bangkok.

The entire car was left in ruins after its driver lost control.

The supercar smash managed to completely destroy a massive palm tree

He had two friends in the back and as it went up a steep part of the road became airborne.

He lost control of the supercar, clipped a motorbike and ploughed it into a palm tree on the side of the road at 3am on Monday morning.

The driver was unhurt but his two friends suffered minor cuts and bruises in the crash.

Horror pictures show the entire front and side of the car totally destroyed.

No one was seriously injured in the crash on Monday morning

Police said that the group escaped serious injury but the driver would be charged with reckless driving, causing injury to others and damaging private property.

Rescuer Worapol Rachatawet, who took pictures of the wrecked Lambo, said: ”The man who was driving had a face as white as a ghost.

“He’ll be paying for the damage for a long time.

”It’s a miracle nobody was killed because the car was smashed very badly.

“It will need to be sent to the scrap yard. If I was the owner I would be crying.”

A Lamborghini Murcialago LP670–4 SuperVeloce can cost around £400,000 in the UK but car prices are typically double in Thailand due to higher import taxes.

The owner told officers that he had paid 40millionTHB for the car — around £900,000.

Well back to Top Gear and The first-look image that has been widely discussed by Top Gear viewers, especially those who watched Hammond, Clarkson and May's new motoring show, The Grand Tour, on Amazon when it first aired last year - ofc some have praised the new, more streamlined line-up, saying that the natural rapport between LeBlanc, Harris and Reid would be better than the scripted humour of The Grand Tour and the last season of Top Gear.... Whether that remains to be seen ...

Altho given Robot Wars is also back for another series with its trailer bien shown as well gives us an indication that the two shows might be aired simultaneously - or immediately one after another ...

Either way interestin few months ahead for the BBC ...

This One ...

Anyway, the announcement on the Twitter was an announcement for this trailer, which is basically announcing a future announcement? Standard....
We know nothing more than we did yesterday,

But still seeing as they've reused the teasers from the last series put them all together and added a bad song to it, stop the vid when it shows Killalot at the end look at his claw it's not the one that we saw in the specials it's the blunt claw from last year ....

That said i miss SGT Bash .. (Retired from Duty) ...
