I stopped collecting since GX, quit altogether probably 2007 so it's been 5 years. I was skimming through tv and ended up watching an original episode of yugioh. It kinda got me interested again. I've never been much of a player, more of a collector. I liked high end valuable cards. My favorite has been Jinzo but anyway I see there's 2 more spinoffs of the series since I quit which kinda erks me :/ I wish the original series came back with new episodes :/ I wanna know a couple things. First are the older cards that I'm used to still collectsble and valuable? Is it still the same game? Is it even worth coming back? I'm interested in buying older packs and boxes again and trying to get that blues eyes or exodia again.
Collectible? Maybe. Valuable? No. Same game? Hell no. Worth coming back? Maybe. Depends on how much you want to invest in the game. You might want to wait for the next ban list. In the meantime enjoy duelingnetwork.com.
older cards, I have found from buying online, generally have more value. especially if the card was re-printed in a later set. exodia's arms and legs [commons] from dark beginning 1 re-print set are worth 3-6 dollars a piece. I'd say it's deffinitly worth coming back to play. I just came back to the game after not playing for 6 years and all the new archtypes and strategies simply made me want to play more. If your actually planning on playing then I would suggest getting some newer cards before going for the old. the new sets have some very devastating cards and combos in them.
What Apolo said. Alternatively find a couple of people and play older formats with them with the cardpool of the time. Goat control is amazing to play in last i heard.
