Your unluckiest ship
Do you have one or more ships in your collection that ought to do well, but somehow never amount to anything?
My #1 loser is the President (USA). With four 3L cannons and a built-in reroll, she ought to score at least two hits (on average) each time she fires. But every time I use her, I roll nothing but 1's and 2's. I'm so sick of her rotten luck, I'm ready to give her away, so I won't be tempted to give her "just one more chance."
Does anyone else have a bad-luck ship?

Certainly. I almost went on a huge rant about the ten masters, and right now they are the worst ships in my collection, even worse than La Saragoza: http://www.miniaturetrading.com/im/s...7/cards_lang/1
Maybe my ships are possessed and they take time to 'warm up' to me . When I first got HMS Grand Temple, she performed atrociously in battle and I almost gave up on her. Maybe the ten masters need to be broken in a bit for them to shine .

Worst Luck
I would say the HMS Grand Temple - I don't know if it is because it is a somewhat scary ship and automatically draws huge amounts of attention and draws fire like a magnet or what, but I don't think I have won a game yet using her in a fleet

I had similarly horrible luck when I first used her. She does draw fire, being the only other non-Jade 6 master along with the Divine Dragon. Some people hate her because they consider her to be underpriced. Some people think she should cost at least 20 points. I like to set her up with Calico Cat (OE version), Lord Thomas Gunn (OE), and a helmsman. This gives her captain, world-hater, and extra action with reroll to move up to 6S, all for just 29 points (not bad, anyway). Alternatively you could use a shipwright since 4S (more than half the time) is usually fast enough.

Its funny, I had one of my LUCKIEST games using her, lol. To sum up quickly, I had a 6 coin on her, coming home - last coin on the board, transferred from my support ship which was later destroyed. It was a 5 person game, and the other four teamed up on me to not let me win (with what they had left anyway, part of their ire was the constant double actions and accurate shots from the GT haha). The GT was being pursued, but kept getting Extra Actions and managed to evade a lot of the forces. Just when I thought it was over though, I blockaded some pursuers with Aberdeen Baron and then rolled 4 sixes on her cannons lol. Then, what really saved me was an ICEBERG that moved directly in the way in the last real ship that could catch me lol.
I won the game by 2 gold. THis was directly after I won a game by 1 gold because of Rum lol... the same player came in 2nd both games, haha

I used HMS Oxley once. Granted, her cannons are sub-average, but she should have scored at least one hit out of the four shots she fired. But she missed every shot, I lost the battle, and I gave her away in disgust. I used HMS Oxley... once.

One of my biggest regrets about the game is that I have precious little playing experience, but one lesson I have learned from playing is: don't write off bad cannons.
The last game I played was a 2 pack buy in, play-what-you-pull match. Any crew pulled can be played on any ships pulled etc. etc. I was dumbfounded when I pulled what I thought was one of the most useless ships in the game - Maman Bridgitte The *best* cannons are 4 rank - but it was still a 4 mast ship. The MB managed to ram and shoot everything in its path to splinters. No doubt a lot of dice rolls that were very above average helped a lot, but no one was more surprised than me that my fleet was so dominant (I had one other 1 mast ship)

Indeed, once I sunk the Baochuan with HMS Lady Provost.

I will revive a dead thread by saying that my most heinously unlucky ship is the HMS Bretwalda. It looks like it could theoretically be ok- but it is not so for me. I've used it twice in large-sided battles (250 points) and it has failed me both times. The worst it has ever pulled was shooting 1 for 13. This is of course hideously low seeing as it should theoretically hit 2 in 3 shots.
