I get what you're saying, but I'm saying it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
And mostly because I despise Kamina and Joey.

Except that argument is bad because it winds up being the defense for Yuma, a character everyone knows you hate.
Yes, yes. I know. You hate Joey and Kamina but love characters like Z-One and Ginjou. Etc. etc.

What is your argument exactly? "Joey made Marik afraid so Joey actually won?"

FAIL.They couldn't attack during the turn they were Special Summoned.Only Ra had that ability. So what was the point of Summoning a monster that could barely do the damage it needs to do.

You're wrong. Ra's "instant attack" effect was only mentioned because of Vengeful Bog Spirit.

Joey won because he had a winning play and scared Marik half to death. Marik only got away because lol!fainting/pseudo-death and lolevilmagic.

Well not really. Joey won in terms of the card game, but that was never Marik's aim. He always intended to win by incapacitating Joey, so I don't count it as a loss since he achieved his win condition. If say Joey got hit in the balls by something and then fainted before he attacked, then I would say Marik lost.

The biggest point is, Jonouchi was far tougher than Marik (or anybody) thought. Marik was focused on torturing him, and failed to see how he kept enduring it, turn after turn. Jonouchi even survived Ra's attack, (and I doubt Jonouchi himself ever knew how he did that) something Marik did not expect at ALL, and this nearly ended Marik's sadistic career right there.
Marik won that duel because of dumb luck. And you people harp on the protagists for having all the luck.

Having the plot-relevant luck once =/= having the plot-relevant luck every single time and aplying it even against filler characters.

It's more than that, Gasper.
Keeping with Marik, during the duel with Mai, he drew Card of Last Will, a card that let him make five draws, immediately after the turn where he used Rope of Life.
You guys complain about the "asspulls" that the heroes make, but that one was pretty bad.

Which ones are more frequent? Asspulls made by the heroes or asspulls made by antagonists who claim to be gods / are god-like / are, as someone said once, nucking futs?
Also, you mean this card. I did not watch that duel, so I cannot say much about it.

Yes, I mean that card.
Not only did it let him draw a five cards to make up for the ones he discarded due to Rope of Life, but because the monster that was destroyed to activate it was Makyura the Destructor, he was able to activate one of the five that was a Trap Card. (I forget what it was at the moment.)

So, he was essentially toying around with Mai and not taking her too seriously?

Basically, yes. But if she had known that she simply couldn't have used Ra because using it required reading the Heiratic Text on it, he would have lost.

I like how a thread about zexal 66 can easely turn into a thread about a duel from DM.

Did my post get deleted or something? Mods, you're interfering with my destruction of stupidity.

As my deleted post said, is a Self-Destruct Button player's win in a match "dumb luck" when the whole point of the Deck is to stall until the final round where it wrecks you? Marik's win condition was to make Joey incapable of finishing the duel, and it was achieved. Lrn2argue.

Once again, Rope of Life has a different effect in the anime that doesn't involve discarding since he had no hand when he played it. As for Card of Last Will... what? How is that any worse than ANYTHING anyone else does? An asspull is having a card meant for a specific situation that saves your ass because you were losing, but that clearly was not happening to Marik.
In episode 91 Yugi says to Marik "Stop with these mind games and just duel", and Marik's rebuttal was "These mind games ARE how I duel". Paraphrasing, obviously.
To you I will not say "try again", but rather "stop." :|
