2008's Big Event - The Skrulls?!

As seen in New Avengers, the evil Elektra running around - was a Skrull. Jessica Jone's baby - is a Skrull. And according to Bendis, many Marvel heroes running around these days - are Skrulls, preparing for an invasion of Earth. In fact, they have been responsible for most of the New Avengers' adventures since day 1.

Bendis has said that this will form the basis for 2008's big event, complete with tagline "who do you trust?". What do you think of this? Full details are on the Marvel website.

The LAST thing the Skrulls should be planning is an Invasion of Earth when their species is on the brink of extinction due to the Annihilation wave.

My understanding is that their species being on the brink of extinction happens to be the reason that they're currently planning an invasion.
Something like a last ditch effort and that they beleive they're destined to have it, I think.

I think two things:

a) It's been done before
b) BAD idea.

I'm so not interested in current comics these days, I could care less to be honest. The 616 Universe has been a stinker since LONG before Civil War, and it continues to suck IMHO. The DCU, while going through some interesting growing pains, isn't much better.

I remember when I read Wolverine was a Skrull impostor.

And I remember feeling ripped off.

So yeah, having this possibility on an even bigger scale holds no appeal to me.

I'm not mad about Skrulls myself (except for the Super-Skrull, he's cool), but it would explain why many Marvel heroes are acting like big jerks. It'd be better with Space Phantoms though.....
