Default Topping Bujin Decks in the OCG

So I like to go on Shriek and look at the lists of the Top 8's and all, and I've noticed that War Gods (Bujins in the TCG) have been topping consistently using an Anti-Meta version that has a very strong matchup versus the top decks, Dragon Rulers, Prophecy, and Evilswarm. I thought this list in particular was very interesting and I've decided to show Pojo what the next Anti-Meta deck will look like.

Credit goes to an OCG player I only recall as Harukyon, seeing as I named the deck on DN after him. This list is card-for-card.

Deck Visual - http://i.imgur.com/vvwz2f3.png

Monsters : 17

1 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear

1 Honest

3 War God - Yamato

3 War God Vessel - Habakiri

2 War God Vessel - Murakumo

3 War God Vessel - Hetsuka

2 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer

2 Effect Veiler

Spells : 10

2 Pot of Duality

1 Monster Reborn

1 War God Advent

1 Forbidden Lance

2 Mystical Space Typhoon

3 Fire Formation - Tenki

Traps : 13

3 Compulsory Evacuation Device

1 Soul-Manifesting War God

2 Mirror Force

2 Bottomless Trap Hole

3 Vanity's Emptiness

1 Solemn Judgment

1 Solemn Warning

Side Deck : 15

1 Mystical Space Typhoon

3 Maxx "C"

2 Droll & Lock Bird

2 Overworked

3 Deck Lockdown

2 Prohibition

2 Thunder King Rai-Oh

Extra Deck : 15

1 Ally of Justice Catastor

1 Crimson Blader

1 Stardust Radiance Dragon

1 Thought Ruler Archfiend

1 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King

1 Gagaga Cowboy

1 Starliege Paladynamo

1 Diamond Dire Wolf

1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn

1 Abyss Dweller

1 Constellar Omega

1 Number 50: Blackship of Corn

2 War God Emperor - Susanoo

1 Constellar Ptolemy M7

So my main interests in the deck are the three Vanity's Emptiness, the two Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer, and the lone Forbidden Lance. The triple Vanity's Emptiness really help counter the meta. For example : Activate Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks effect in hand, discard another Dragon, chain Vanity's Emptiness. They just went -2 ( not accounting for any Super Rejuvenation plays ) and locked out of their trademark plays. The double Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer put in some work as well, preventing banishing and removing any possible threats in their Graveyard. The Forbidden Lance is also neat in a format with so little Spells/Traps, outside of Evilswarms. But it does indeed protect War God - Yamato and War God Emperor - Susanoo, so no arguments from me. It also combos well with Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear, netting you a free Fire Formation - Tenki.

Let me know what you guys think of the War Gods! What do you think of the incoming Shadow Specters support? Leave your comments down below!

Nice, I bet Vanity's Emptiness won at least half of the games it saw play in.

I'm curious about his interest in Overworked.

I was also curious on the Overworked choice, but it may just be his locals had a bunch of Three and Four-Axis Fire Fists decks. But hey, just a random guess. And Vanity's Emptiness has started seeing a lot of side deck action over here in the TCG too apparently... Just goes to show how much impact the OCG has on the metagame.

You can change war gods for any other deck and still do good vs the top decks. Its just that people was dumb enough to not figure out until now the great power that emptiness boasts in this format.

Not every deck can simultaneously use Vanity's Emptiness and prevent cards from going from field to grave. It's not about dumb or smart.

You don't need to prevent cards from going from field to grave. Even stopping one special summon by chaining is pretty critical against Dragons, especially if they start with minis. It is also particularly nice in a format where people don't bother main decking MST.

The point is that it's not really Bujin that won. I am not saying it's a bad deck; it is actually a decent one. However, you can substitute the main "deck" component and win against Prophecy/Dragons if you draw into things like Imperial Iron Wall, etc.

Well no, your point is it's easy to side against top decks, his point was that people are too 'dumb' to realize the potential in a card some people knew nothing about.

Just found this, I've been interested in them for a while. The deck runs pretty well so far. I really actually like it a lot. Going to keep testing.

Those who doubt the Bujin potential have never seen it been used first-hand by a good player.

The deck is fine, but I just don't see how it stands up to Mermail and Fire Fist (not discussing Dragons and Prophecy right now since we're not sure how hard they'll get hit).

Just started getting into them due to interest in Japanese mythology. So far I'm liking how consistent the archetype is, and how easy it is to set up counters with Yamato and Susanoo.

I have yet to pull out susanoo in a duel. Usually once I have my hands on Yamato I sit on it & beat that face. Lol
