The original payout to Top 4 was...

1st: 18 GS5 Packs
2nd: 12 GS5 Packs
3rd & 4th: 3 GS5 Packs each

Do the math now with me...
16 Teams X 3 Players per Team = 48 Players in total.
48 Players X $15 entry = $720 total pot
Are you following me now? Because we're almost at the end.
$720 divided by $20 (price of GS5) = 36 GS5 Packs to the winners.
These are NOT my rules, it's what my boss wanted.

Now we have 36 packs to divvy out to the Top 4 Teams.
Unlike other shops, when it comes to Prize Support for Team Event, I give out the Prizes equal to the number of players.
Since a Team consisted of 3 people, 3 people received equal Prize Support.
It's only fair that way.
Why should I give out extra stuff so that one or two people on the Team get screwed?
That's not fair towards your Teammates.
If I would have given 3rd and 4th place 6 GS5 Packs, then that leaves Top 2 with only 24 Packs.
You only paid $15 to enter and you walked away with a Gold Series 5, which the SRP is $20.
So in theory, you made $5.
I've been running Team Tournaments like this for years and this is the only time I've ever had a complaint about Prize Support.
Oh well, there's a first time for everything.

I think what most people are upset about is how top heavy the prize support was, which is understandable. I mean there's a huge gap between 1/2 and 3/4.

Nate, of course the Top was heavy.
WINNERS deserve the most Prize Support.
If you split, then things change.
The only people who are complaining on this Thread (and other threads) are people who NEVER make it into the Top.
If they do, they never quite clear 5th thru 8th place.
And when they do make it, unless they make it to 1st or 2nd, then they complain about how they got gypped.

That's 5x more to 2nd place because they split? Past tournaments for store credit Have only about 3x more to 1st 2.5x to 2nd place compared to 3-8th

As for topping, I bring fun/troll decks to ppf. Don't need a meta deck to play a 9 year old. x.x

First did split? Instead of either of us getting 18 packs we got 15. (Instead of 6 each we got 5 each.)

Matt you were right...I burst out laughing in the movie and watched it with my fingers in the shape of a monocle the entire time.

My issue is only with the massive difference between 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th

Well anyway, it's all in the past now. No need to complain any further. It's not going to get you any more packs.

In theory the gap between 1/2 and 3/4 isn't that bad because it was
1st 18 packs
2nd 12 packs
3rd + 4th 3 packs
It was a little more of a gap then the normal tournaments but that's because this was a special event.
Great job to everyone that went and did well!

If it was what you wanted:

5 each 1st place
3 each for 2nd
2 each for 3/4

and I don't think 2nd place should only be 1 more box per person than 3rd/4th place. Considering a lot of the rounds are free wins because of small children only 1-2 rounds really even count. It really should be the 1st/2nd place that gets the most prizes because that's when you play the best teams.

Edit: Also: Because of the fact that it's a top 4 instead of a top 8 because it's done with teams: 3rd/4th is really like being a 5-8 in a regular tournament where 1st/2nd is like a top 4 of a regular tournament.

G'evening Yu-Gi-Oh kiddies!!!
What a long and exhausting day we had.
I'm pretty sure the reason Top 4 Split was because they all were tired of playing.
35 people entered the Event and after 6 Rounds, we entered the Top 8...

- Gianna T. (Seto Kaiba) with $25 Store Credit
- Nick T. (Win-zektors) with $25 S.C.
- Drew G. (Chaos Dragons) with $25 S.C.
- Billy M. (Power Rangers) with $25 S.C.
5th: Victor D. (Wind-Ups) with $10 S.C.
6th: Cameron H. (Kara Kuri) with $10 S.C.
7th: Cory R. (Pure Elemental Heroes) with $10 S.C.
8th: Sean C. (Dark World) with $10 S.C.

And that's that!

I wanna thank Rob T. and Nick T. for Judging the Event as usual.
I'm gonna pass out now.
Have a Fantastic Weekend and I'll see ya next Saturday!
