US Yugioh Zexal Volume 1: My Impression and Questions

So I was at the mall today and I noticed Yugioh Zexal Volume 1 in the Barnes and Noble there. I haven't bought manga in years, but I figured I'd give it a try. I mean it came with a free card so why not?

And while the whole jet catch phrase was "odd", I must say I'm pleasantly suprised. It was almost identical to the anime, which I watch, and overall I found it an enjoyable read. Which I found odd because despite it being virtually identical, I found it a lot more tolerable than its anime counterpart.

To those who have read beyond the first english volume, how different does the manga become from the anime? I'm simply curious because I think I may buy each Zexal volume as it comes out.

Also, was the part with Kaito at the end part of the story or what? That was kinda strange.

Volume One follows the anime almost exactly. It skips the Terrorbyte arc.

So in short; It follows the plot of episodes; 1, 2, 5 and 6.

The end story with Kaito is a special chapter that was in an issue of V-JUMP before the Zexal manga started.

okay, that makes sense. I will say that I am very happy with there being no Terrorbyte arc in the manga. what about later on? Does it still have the heartland tournament?

It gets WAY different than the anime later on.

There's no tournament (yet), unless you count Yuma VS Corn/Thunder Spark/Cologne-chan as some kind of tournament.

Tron isn't in the manga currently but Dr. Faker is. The "Numbers" Astral absorbs from the three Heartland theme park guardians tells him that Dr. Faker is his enemy and that he plans on using the "Numbers" to take over the world or destroy it.

I'm guessing the manga was introduced to reveal the others number cards, because they may not have the opportunity to reveal EVERY single of the 102 number cards.

I hope so. Zexal is alright, but I don't want the anime to last long enough to show all of them.

hopefully. I'd like to see other chaos numbers. Chaos Leviathan dragon and chaos Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja would be cool.

I'm hoping for Chaos versions of Fran Ken and Black Corn. Fran Ken's real life effect changes its battle position and and Black Corn's real life effect makes it unable to attack. Imagine how awesome it would be if you could activate their effects, Chaos Xyz Change and attack. Though I guess that would be kinda broken lol.

Not really because you would have to have less than 1000 life points

Chaos numbers need 1000 or less points to activate their effects but they can be summoned at any time.

good point. For some reason I thought you needed to activate the effect of the chaos xyz for that to work. My bad haha

Utopia Ray and Drake Vice are only good/playable when your card runs outta Materials(Especially since Utopia sucks with 0 Materials)
