Chapter 11: Predator and Prey - Part 1

About a week passed since Lucian met White and all was quiet and calm, nothing seemed to be very out of the ordinary in Shinaka City. But that was in Lucian’s calm city as, in their secret lair, the likes of the Meklord wielders were seen observing replay after replay of Lucian’s duels with the other members.

“Curse you Lucian Auros.....you are TRULY becoming a problem.” Primo thought, watching his Wisel being destroyed in the replays. Lester groaned, remembering when his sister got the better of him as well.

“This boy is really starting to become a pest. Is there NOTHING we can do to stop him?” another robed figure asked. Lester quietly looked on at the others.

“If only there was some way to KNOW what makes this little troll tick!” Raize snarled. But then, everyone heard a small chuckle coming from Lester. All eyes turned to him.

“All right you little vermin. What’s so funny?” Primo asked. Lester smirked and glared with a cocky smirk to Primo.

“Unlike all of you, I have done a bit of research into this particular human.” Lester said, reaching under his cloak. They watched as a small data disk was seen pulled out, waved tauntingly by Lester.

“A while back, I planted a little “spy bug” on the kid. Most likely around the time he meddled with me recruiting our “new” member. Since then, I heard all the talk he had with Fudo and how he supposedly has the power to “change reality”.” Lester said. Some of the other members gasped, including Primo.

“What?! Changing reality?! Is THAT how he defeated me?!” Primo growled. Lester smirked, almost thinking it of “sheer dumb luck” that Lucian kept surviving each encounter with the Meklords. Lester effortlessly tossed the disk across the room, caught by the large cloaked figure in Throne I.

“There ya go Jakob 2. Maybe THAT ought to give us the insight we need to finally beat that pesky little Auros.” Lester said. Suddenly, Jakob made the disk vanish in a flash before slowly rising from his throne. He pulled back his hood, revealing the face of an old man with a long gray beard covering his mouth, sticking out from underneath a gray metal plating as both eyes stared on with an intense red glare. There were several black markings around his eyes as a large gray eyebrow covered his left eye.

“Hmm? Something I said?” Lester asked.

“No Lester 2. I think it is about time that I take a crack at this troublesome child. Perhaps I can do what you all have FAILED. If this boy is too much of a problem for the likes of you, Primo 2, then allow me to personally handle him.” Jakob said. Primo gasped.

“What?! Now see here you ancient old geezer! Lucian Auros is MY prey! I won’t have you....!” Primo exclaimed before an angry scowl from Jakob’s eyes silenced him.

“Hold your tongue Primo 2. Its clear that the only one of us who can stand a chance of capturing this child is me. So don’t stick your nose into matters where you can get in the way. Lucian Auros......is now MY prey.” Jakob said, rasing a giant fist.

Meanwhile, in Shinaka City the next day, Lucian and his friends, except for a late sleeping White, were in for a real treat as another of Yusei’s old friends from New Domino City was stopping by the city for a friendly greet. They all waited outside of a colorful restaurant in the lower quarters of the city, waiting for Yusei’s friend to show.

“So....who is this friend we’re waiting for anyway Yusei?” Alice asked. Yusei smirked.

“His name’s Crow. He used to be a running teammate of mine when we were in the World Racing Grand Prix in Team 5D’s. He’s also a childhood friend of mine.” Yusei said. Lucian chuckled.

“No way. Crow Hogan? That dude’s amazing! I remember watching the duels you guys had when the WRGP matches were aired online.” Lucian said. Yusei smirked, betting Crow would love to hear that. But all Ethan did was huff.

“Crow Hogan? Whatever. That bird brain’s nothing special.” Snowe said. Misaki glanced at Snowe as Alice walked over to her.


“You can’t keep your thoughts to yourself, can ya missy?” Alice asked. Snowe glanced at Alice, asking what was such a big deal about some “wanna be” who hardly won many duels in the WRGP.

“He’s Yusei’s friend. That’s why.” Lucian said. Just then, Yusei heard the sound of a motorcycle revving its gears and coming racing up the road. He looked out down the street and smiled, knowing that sound anywhere.

“Here he comes.” Yusei thought. Everyone soon saw what appeared to be a black motorcycle zooming down the street with a rider in a black helmet and brown coat on board. He had both hands firmly gripping the handles as he kept eyes on the road. But when he saw Yusei, he came to a screeching halt at their side.

“Yo! Yusei! There ya are!” the rider laughed. They all watched as the rider took off his helmet and slipped it under his arm, showing a young man’s face with spiky orange hair, a green bandana around his hair line, and strange yellow markings on his face. He smiled with bright teal eyes.

“Crow! Good to see you.” Yusei smirked, shaking his friend’s hand. Crow chuckled, saying it was a treat to see Yusei again after so long too. He then caught a glimpse of the others nearby, mostly seeing Lucian.

“Say....ain’t you Lucian Auros? Yusei’s said quite a bit about you to everyone else on the old team.” Crow said, locking eyes with the boy. Lucian quietly nodded.

“Yeah. That’s me. It’s a pleasure to meet you too Crow. This is my team....the Shooting Stars.” Lucian said, introducing the others with him and Yusei.

“Well, its good to meet you all. So Yusei? How has you and Akiza been? I heard she came back to visit.” Crow said. Yusei chuckled, saying more like she “moved in” because she wanted to be apart of Yusei’s work. Crow burst laughing, patting Yusei’s shoulder, saying that sounded like the Akiza he knew.

“So...we gonna have lunch or what?” Snowe asked, hinting at the restaurant behind them. Yusei nodded, telling Crow they’d catch up inside.

“All right. Whatever.” Crow said. Everyone joined Yusei and Crow as they strolled inside and gathered at a table. But outside, watching from a nearby rooftop and casting a large shadow was Jakob.

“So.....here you are little boy. Hmph. You’ve done well to evade us for this long. But this time.....you WILL be ours.” Jakob said. For the time being, Jakob merely observed Lucian as he sat down with Crow and the rest. Crow was overcome with shock to hear Yusei mention the Meklords again.

“Wh-WHAT?! The Meklord Emperors?! Again?” Crow shouted. Yusei quietly nodded.

“Yeah. Looks like we’re not completely done with them yet Crow. Somehow, they must’ve made new versions of Lester and Primo, along with another accomplice, and now seek to get revenge on us humans.” Yusei said. Crow groaned, sulking back in his seat.

“Oh man! And here I thought we were done with those metal nightmares!” Crow groaned. Lucian and the others asked Crow what it was like when he last faced the Meklords.

“It was difficult for sure. Those metal freaks don’t hold anything back and they always seem intent to kill. I thought we were done with them after Aporia, but to hear they’re ALIVE....ugh. This is a mess.” Crow said. Yusei quietly glared on, reminding Crow that they seemed more into Lucian right now, given his “special power”. Alice glanced at Lucian.

“Yeah. Who would’ve guessed I knew someone with such a cool gift like that? And I thought I was weird.” Alice said. Lucian lightly chuckled.

“Well, nice to see you guys don’t mind hanging around me, even now that you pretty much know.” Lucian said. Ethan huffed, saying Lucian was all right as Snowe quietly looked away.

“Of course we’ll hang around with ya Lucian. You’re a really cool kid.” Rosella said. Misaki nodded, adding that he was also her younger brother and she always loved him. Lucian smiled.

“Thanks guys.” Lucian said. Just then, they all noticed one of the waitresses, dressed in a pink work uniform under a white apron, approaching.

“Uhh...excuse me? Is there a “Lucian Auros” here? There’s a call for him outside.” she said. Lucian seemed surprised, glancing out at a nearby public phone out by the front entrance. He told the others he would be right back and hurried to answer it, finding the phone sitting on a ledge.

“Hello? This is Lucian.” he said. But suddenly, he felt something grabbing him from behind with great force, ripping him away from the phone and tearing the cord as well.

“H-HEY! What the?! WHOA!” Lucian exclaimed, being raised into the air. He quickly looked back and gasped, seeing the towering Jakob below him.

“Greetings Lucian Auros. I am who you may call Jakob. I am the LEADER of the group who wield the Meklords. And you are now....my PRISONER boy!” Jakob snarled. Lucian gasped, dropping the phone as he looked dead center at Jakob’s cold cruel glare.

No one had seen Jakob coming, only soon noticing him when Lucian screamed for help. The others quickly looked out the window and saw Jakob’s massive hand gripped tightly to Lucian’s shirt collar.

“Holy cow! It’s Jakob! B-But HOW?!” Crow exclaimed. Yusei groaned, figuring this must’ve been a trap Jakob set up. 



“Come on! We gotta help him!” Misaki exclaimed. Outside, Lucian struggled to break free, wrestling against Jakob.

“You can’t escape me. I am as powerful as a god. NONE shall escape my clutches.” Jakob snarled. He then threw Lucian to the floor, making his deck box at his waist burst open and scatter his cards. The giant then approached Lucian, ready to grab him again. But Lucian looked ahead and saw Crow’s Duel Runner. He looked back in fear at the giant.

“There’s nowhere to run. Come along with me and we can avoid making a scene.” Jakob said. But Lucian wouldn’t have it. Acting on instinct, he quickly shuffled his deck back together and made a break for Crow’s runner. The others watched.

“Hey! What’s he doing?! He’s not gonna take my runner, is he?!” Crow shouted. Snowe gasped as Lucian jumped into the driver’s seat and tried to start the runner. But Jakob began to charge.

“Come back here boy!” Jakob shouted. Lucian groaned, trying his best to get it running.

“Come on! Please work! I gotta get away from this guy!” Lucian thought. Suddenly, the lights on the dashboard came on as the spirits of Lyna and Milla were seen at Lucian’s side, noticed also by Jakob.

“Lucian! We heard your call! Hang on!” Lyna shouted. Lucian watched as the two casted their light magic on the runner, causing it to soar off on its own under their control. But Jakob began to charge faster, running faster and faster. He became a blur down the sidewalk.


“No one escapes from ME! The game of cat and mouse begins now! Let’s SEE just how you fair against the leader of your greatest fear!” Jakob exclaimed. From behind, a treadmill like runner was seen racing towards Jakob. He gave a loud yell and jumped into the air, seen merging his lower half into the runner as wires clamped to his waist and a glowing duel disk formed around him.

“What? Oh great! I can’t shake him!” Lucian exclaimed. Suddenly, a white infinite symbol engulfed them both. Crow’s runner was forced into a Turbo Duel by Jakob and Lucian had no choice but to accept. He slipped his deck inside as it randomly shuffled the cards. They glared at one another.

DUEL BEGIN!

Lucian made the first move, drawing his sixth card. He looked and set a face down monster before placing a card behind.


“Then it is MY turn!” Jakob called. He drew his card and played Grand Core from his hand.

“That’s got to be another Meklord Emperor core. He better not be trying what I think he’s gonna do.” Lucian thought, looking back at the core.

“I then place three cards face down and end my turn!” Jakob called, setting his hand. Lucian sighed, glad to see a Meklord was not appearing.


“Fine! Here I come!” Lucian said, making his draw. He looked to his face down monster and flipped it, revealing Ryko. Ryko howled and roared at one of Jakob’s set cards, destroying Infinite Feast. Three cards were milled.

“And now...I summon Celestia! The Lightsworn Angel!” Lucian shouted, sacrificing Ryko to play his new Lightsworn. Four cards were milled from his deck as he targeted Jakob’s two other set cards and destroyed them. But rather than be worried, Jakob chuckled.

“Why thank you you simpleton. You activated one of my traps! One I HOPED you’d trigger! Go Mechanized Burst!” Jakob exclaimed, revealing one of the traps Celestia just destroyed.

When this Set card is destroyed while a Machine-type monster is in play, one card is destroyed and its controller draws a card. If the destroyed card was a Machine-type monster, you gain 1000 life points.

Jakob laughed as a lightning bolt fired and shattered Grand Core.


“And now....I play Grand Core’s effect! From my core’s destruction comes your ultimate terror! Because NOW I can summon......Meklord Emperor Granel!” Jakob exclaimed, summoning forth all five parts of the terrible giant. The core appeared as four other machine parts surrounded it and latched together, forming the giant Meklord.

“Great. He managed to play it after all. I wonder what it does.” Lucian thought. Jakob chuckled, gaining 1000 life points due to Mechanized Burst.

“Now low and behold! My Meklord’s ability! Its attack and defense points become the SAME as my life points! And THAT means....you’re staring down a giant with enormous might!” Jakob shouted. Lucian gasped, realizing the giant Meklord now had 5000 points.

“What?! A five thousand attack monster in ONE turn?! Impossible!” Lucian thought. Jakob cackled, watching to see what move Lucian would try now. He groaned and set another card before ending his turn. Jakob decided to take his turn and draw.

Jakob smirked and looked to a card in his hand.

“I place this face down. And now....Granel! Attack Celestia!” Jakob exclaimed. The giant took aim at Lucian and opened fire.

“Not so fast! I play Celestial Shield!” Lucian exclaimed, flipping a set card as a giant angelic shield, reddish background with white angel wings and a gold halo, appeared in Celestia’s hands.

Equip onto a LIGHT monster you control. If a monster attacks the equipped monster, you can negate an equal number of attacks as there are LIGHT monsters in your Graveyard. The equipped monster also gains 1000 DEF when in defense mode.

Celestia used her large shield and deflected Granel’s attack away. Jakob watched it soar before facing Lucian.

“Well, it seems you are going to make this hard. Very well. I end my turn.” Jakob said. Lucian made his next draw, watching the counters on Crow’s runner rise to 4. He then took a Charge of the Light Brigade from his hand, his powers slowly clicking in so he could make it a Speed Spell.

“I now play the Speed Spell....Charge of the Light Brigade! Since I have four or more speed counters, I can now add one Lightsworn to my hand from my deck by sending three cards of my deck to the Graveyard!” Lucian called. Jakob smirked.

“In THAT case....I play Ancient Machine Lock!” Jakob called, playing his trap card. A rusted set of chains wrapped around Lucian’s deck as an old rusted code lock appeared.

“Wh-What?!” Lucian exclaimed.

“I know ALL about your Lightsworns boy! That is why I prepped my deck with this card. Now while it is in play, you CAN’T send your cards to your Graveyard! You must draw them one at a time!” Jakob called. Lucian gasped, realizing his spell was now useless. Lucian groaned and looked to his hand.

“Fine then! Celestia! I switch you to defense mode and play another set monster!” Lucian called. Another monster was set on his field as Celestia kneeled down. Jakob’s turn was next and he made his draw.


“If you think that trap card is your only worry.....believe me. It is NOT. I now play a Speed Spell called Mind Link of Creator and Machine!” Jakob called. His spell was played as Lucian watched.

By removing 4 Speed Counters to play, you can, once a turn, send up to 3 cards from your Deck to the Graveyard and gain 1000 life points for each Machine-type monster sent by this effect.

Jakob sent the top three cards of his deck away, seeing three “Granel” parts hitting the graveyard. Because he and Granel shared points, Granel now had 8000 attack.

“What?! No way!” Lucian exclaimed. Jakob chuckled.

“Oh yes way. And I now play ANOTHER card! The one I just set! It is called Fiendish Delicacies!" he exclaimed, flipping the trap "It activates while I have more life points than you while I have a Meklord Emperor in play. Now my Meklord can absorb one random monster from your Extra Deck or field once a turn. And the brilliant part is.....ALL cards now count as Synchro Monsters!” Lucian gasped, watching Granel’s core open and fire wires at him.

“NO! My Xyz Monsters!” Lucian exclaimed, watching as they wrapped around his deck and ripped Tiras straight out.

“Tiras!” Lyna and Milla exclaimed. Tiras yelled in agony as he was sucked into the bowels of the giant, making Meklord Granel a powerpack machine with 10,600 attack. Lucian, Milla and Lyna all watched in fear as Jakob maliciously laughed. But unknown to all, Lucian’s left hand began growing the black twisted mark, signs of Adreus.

“Yes. Look on in fear my boy. For THIS is what the TRUE power of the Meklord Emperors! Now go Granel! ATTACK!” Jakob bellowed, sending his giant towards Lucian and Celestia.
