Guess the explanation is that it occurred in another timeline, where different events caused these discrepancies.

I have to agree with you there, it had to of happened in a different timeline cause since Gohan wasn't a SSJ yet it took place before they went into the RoSaT so unless the movie takes place before Piccolo merges with Kami he should be the strongest
as for the Meta-Cooler movie, it takes place after the RoSaT trips since Dende is guardian of earth in it so the SSJs would be more powerful than Piccolo at that point

Different timeline.
Probably caused by Cell going back in time during the battle with Raditz. A slight change of events* causes the snowball effect and the Garlic Jr and other movies take place.
Leading to a completely different change of events with Vegeta and Namek.
And also new androids and villians faced/unfaced.

.
.
*such that Raditz's scouter picks up Cell's power level (10,000 ?) and Raditz fights more cruel. Goku still manages to grab his tail and this time Goku doesn't give him mercy, allowing Picollo to kill Raditz with the Special Beam Cannon.

Movie 7 is one of the worst though, it's like they took the timeline of the cell saga, put it in a jar and shook vigorously.

Kuririn actually used the remote, and piccolo killed cell before he absorbed too many people probably.

Go look at the official timeline. There's plenty of time from Piccolo merging with God before anybody uses the RoSaT (at least 6 days IIRC).

#14 and #15 fought evenly with Vegeta and Trunks. #19 and #20 got stomped, more or less. #13 had an advantage over Goku yet it wasn't anything stompworthy, so he can't be on #18's level let alone #17's. Your ranks are whack.
