The episode greets us with a Cementery Bomb Trap Point activating. Guess who takes the hit. And as Yuuma yawns and Kotori nags, Astral points out yet another Trap Point ahead. Literally seconds away from the previous one. Isn't it weird that Yuuma hasn't lost all his Life Points already by this point with such a high frequency of Trap Points?
Yuuma uses his expert coaster-piloting skills to turn left and avoid the Trap Point, and as he ponders about the players who were heavily involved in the past Duels he witnessed (no mention of leaving DOLOWA behind? OK...), the coaster starts spiraling down into the last Duel Field. Since this is the last time we'll ever see these stupid coaster system, let's review what they've done so far:
1) Create an attack system that doesn't make any sense, isn't respected, and is ultimately discarded once the 8 finalists are drawn.
2) Pretend they have limited functions when they can be driven, reversed and stopped at will.
3) Use an endless Spell/Trap system that did not fulfill its purpose. Ever.
Why can't we just have regular Duels again? OH YEAH, IT SOUNDED FUN.
Yuuma arrives to a stop where GOSYU has been waiting forever. Yes, remember, GOSYU has been waiting there while Yuuma fooled around watching everyone else's Duels. Or let's take it the other way round: If GOSYU wasn't waiting, then why didn't he get to watch some Duels? You know, help DOLOWA, or at least get her out of the Jungle Field, or face V, the guy who kidnapped Haruto right in GOSYU's face? The latter one is very interesting because that's the only motivation Yuuma has to even address Kaito, while GOSYU's job is on the line if Haruto goes missing. But all GOSYU cares about is this stupid Duel with Yuuma, and it's not like you are going to think about all of this while the OP plays.
Mr. Heartland announces the last of the finals match and how it will be held at the Dangerous Canyon Field, as GOSYU sits on...wait, what? OH NO, THEY ARE RIDING THE COASTER FOR THIS DUEL.
*Deep sigh*
OK, remember how we all made fun of 5D's for CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES? That's the thing: They did it for over a hundred episodes. And it's not a matter of how many times you do it, it's why you do it. The 5D's universe promoted Riding Duels as a very common form of Dueling: You had D-Runner parts, entire routes modified to hold Riding Duels, and even the police is equipped to deal with Riding Duelists. It's part of the reality of the universe in which the characters live in, the same reason why we accept two characters Dueling instead of getting into a fistfight. The coaster, on the other hand, was introduced for the fun of it, much like Tetsuo foretold. No one knew about it, no one really got it, and no one cared about it once they made it to the Finals. Now, one of the Finals uses it as well. Why? Fun, or whatever. Ask Tetsuo.
GOSYU Summons a monster, and the Field Spell inflicts damage to him. Mr. Heartland points out that Summoning a monster in Attack Position or Declaring an Attack will cause 200 points of damage to a player. Yuuma realizes that he has 100 Life Points, meaning he's quite crippled for this Duel. Yes, all those Trap Points and possible Life Gain Cards still ended up in the bottom minimum multiple of 100. Aren't plot devices as fun as a coaster.
Mr. Heartland winks at GOSYU presenting this as a "gift", and GOSYU somehow acknowledges this. So, did GOSYU knew that this Field involved burn (much like DOLOWA)? That's probably OK, and all, but what if Yuuma just Dueled someone else? Wait, no, GOSYU didn't know this: He's surprised at losing Life Points. Therefore...Mr. Heartland gambled on both players facing each other on a particular Field? That's like less than 0,001% of probability among all 23 finalists. This is one of our main villains, ladies and gentlemen. Furthermore, GOSYU remembers how DOLOWA and him were taken in when they were kids by Mr. Heartland...who was riding a freaking helicopter, what else. This is by far the most out of place flashback: It tells us absolutely nothing. We already knew Heartland trained them with that psycho robot thingy.
As GOSYU ends his turn, he activates a Trap Card. Yuuma braces for impact, but this Trap Card actually sets Yuuma's Life Points back to 4000 in exchange for GOSYU to draw 2 Cards. The effect of the Card is also to kill any built up suspense in the Duel, as Yuuma can now play Cards freely. Yuuma then proceeds to...set a monster. Astral points out that he won't be able to win by just defending, that's why Yuuma sets a defensive monster and a defensive Trap Card.
GOSYU...I mean...Gauche...I mean...GOSHU takes down Yuuma's defenses. Astroll then points out that Yuuma won't be able to win this Duel because he's scared. Watching Kaito and Shark's Duels were too frightening, even if Yuuma doesn't want to admit it. So...what was in it for us? Yuuma butted in these Duels, provided nothing, was asked to shut the hell up, and now it also turned to be bad for him? Kazuma will be ashamed...
Yuuma tries to prove Astral wrong with an offensive move. GOSHU counters, but Yuuma is able to advertise a new Xyz Monster nonetheless. Then he proceeds to burn GOSHU.
NANIIII? SHUBI HYOUJI DATTO????????
GOSHU rages because this Duel is too boring. Yuuma somehow agrees with this accusation, remembering how he just set a monster in Defense Position and used burn. Just a few seconds ago. Is this a bad thing? Now you guys know why everything is just a rushdown OTK: You are not being yourselves if you run stall and other alternative garbage. **** you. Yuuma gets sad, and turns his coaster around to take a break and qwefkqwpledsad.
Sorry, things got too stupid. They need to shove an OP around the 12-minute mark too.
Yuuma asks Kotori to leave the coaster, as this Duel is something he needs to handle himself. Didn't that stupid director justify Kotori's existence everywhere as her being important to Yuuma? Apparently not. Can we just get rid of her?
So Yuuma returns to the tracks, and battles with GOSHU's monster. The intense battle filled with reversals thrills GOSHU, and as he starts enjoying, the tracks reach an abrupt end and both Duelists fall face-first into the floor. Remember: This is not a hologram, the tracks are very real. This is at least a two-story fall. What just happened? Let dr. Astroll answer that for you: A NEW FIELD SPELL CARD.
Both monsters battle, GOSHU forces both players to Summon a new Xyz Monster, and the anticipated battle between Utopia and Excalibur finally arrives. Yuuma negates his own attack and uses Double-Up Chance to win. Heartland announces Yuuma as the winner to the public, but is regretful about it in his mind. He should probably think of plans with a better accuracy like...not letting him take part in this? He's already been too lenient.
GOSHU gives Yuuma his copy of Heroic Champion Excalibur as a memento in a true sign of respect. This is a very emotional moment, if it didn't remind us that Yuuma has tons of Xyz Monsters he never uses and that he has taken by force.
Overall, GOSHU may be the best character in this entire tournament: He had a grudge, he entered the tournament at the last minute just because of that, trashed the necessary Duelists, fought his opponent on equal conditions, even after waiting for the idiot for over five weeks (yup), waited even more for the opponent to realize how to properly handle this fight with dignity, and admited defeat when the time came. Heck, he even remembered DOLOWA! He could be the best character in the show...if we ignore every other episode before this one.

My only question is "Why is Kotori aknowledging Astral's commentary" (specifically when he pointed out the next trap card at the beginning of the episode)

Then we get a tolerance arc, in which the Numbers have to embrace a non-Numbers guy in their comfy key (the Djinn are just bums playing music).

Needs more Maestroke.
Also, how do you have the remaining sanity for these rants? All you're doing is copying Terror's 5Ds dub rants with random moonspeak humor, yet I'm impressed.

It is not very hard to remain sane while writing rants. It helps if you get enjoyment out of doing them.

Too bad for Totem Pole, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow and co don't like having new comers barging into their Trap Clique.
