What significant threats does Gem-Knight Pearl get over?
I know people like him for the 2600 attack, but why? I asked some people at my locals and they said "he gets over Utopia", but iff they DID have Utopia, he'd just negate, negate, then auto die to anyone, so that can't be it. The only one I can think of is Lightpulsar, but who else does he get over?
EDIT: Forgot to specify, what would Pearl get over that Utopia CAN'T get over? So basically, what situations would you go Pearl instead of Utopia ^^;

Well I would assume any monster that is below 2600 atk, which makes up a good portion of commonly used cards in the entire game.

Remember when people used Gaia in the synchro era? It was just in case, to have options and use the extra deck as a tool box.

Extra deck is tight, he's no good. If Utopia cannot run over the enemy monster, then Maestroke can. If it's a monster like Stardust Dragon (Which sees low amount of play.) you would just crash Utopia into it. He's only good if you have so much room to spare. Same applies for Gaia.

The last time I checked, Evolzar Dolkka and LSS-Shi En, as well as the new Six Sam Xyz (eff pending).

He's good because he can't be Fiendish Chain'd. I feel like once Fiendish Chain comes back into play now that it is easy to get, you will see more Pearl. I feel like that is a huge deal honestly, plus it's just easy to make and 2600 is good.

Lol. I know. The title of the thread was "What significant threats does Gem-Knight Pearl get over?" I just merely answered the question. The title wasn't "What threats can Gem-Knight Pearl and only Pearl get over."

Sorry, guess I should of been more specific ^^;
I basically meant, in what situations would you go into Pearl rather then Utopia, or, what common 2500 attack/defense monsters would Pearl get over that Utopia can't. Though, the inability to be Fiendish Chained is a good point as well.

Stardust, Shien, Leviathan Dragon, Lightpulsar (although LP will get REDMD so this point is kinda moot). Can't think of much else.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about Stardust and Levi Leviathan's common enough I can see people running one Pearl just for him, not to mention all the Shi En's running around when the new structure deck comes out.

you can xyz him using koa'ki meiru drago- which is good because u cant make utopia or maestroke with him.
he cant be fiendish chained. so if you read fiendish or you see your opponent duality into one you can make him
he attacks over shi en, stardust, light pulsar (which is relevant now), leviathan, laggia, dolkka, etc.
hes an earth so he might help with new rock support
thats as good as i can do

He's a decent rank4 beatstick for decks that can churn them out (like gadgets). He can get over the odd stardust or shi en, but mostly he's there if you have nothing better to run

I run a Gem Knight in my Warrior-equip deck. While not a tier 1 deck by any stretch it still functions. He's good against most anything other than the more powerful dragons. His usefulness is severely hampered against (chaos) dragons though.

My friend lost to this during T16 of our Nationals last week. He would of probably be able to get the win next turn if the opponent didn't have it.

I think the real perk of this card is that Hope, the strongest, popular, generic rank 4 cannot run over it. If my opponent and I were both top decking, while he has a Hope, I would rather have a Pearl to fight it off.

Pearl is about the only thing that can run over Verz Ophion.

You can go
rabbit
into Sabersaurus
into this guy while Gozen Match is up, also people is really underestimating this card. The only thing utopia has going for it is the attribute. Those 100 extra atk points, make the difference between winning and losing.

If I didn't have much space I'd run it over Utopia. I don't rate the 2 attack negation/auto-die highly and those 100 extra attack points are very handy. I've already attacked for game with Pearl when my opponent tried to use F Chain, feels good, man.
Pearl also doesn't just kill things with less than 2600 attack, he can ram into a 2600 monster, which has happened for me too. Can be game saving. That Masked Hero Acid never saw it coming.

If you play Dino Rabbits, your opponent summons 2500 ATK monsters to run over your Evolzars. Gem-Knight Pearl runs over those 2500 ATK monsters.

It's situational, but definitely worth running in any deck that can semi-consistently make rank 4s (which is most decks not named Inzektors...). Running Evols, I had a live Dolkka and next turn, with my opponent down to 4900, went into Pearl for exact game. After shaking hands he flips over the top card of his deck and it was Dark Hole, and even though I would've made Laggia if I didn't have Pearl, it was still nice knowing I dodged that bullet.
Also, random situation I don't expect to ever happen again, I had Pearl out and my opponent summons Blackwing Gale and uses it's effect and is forced to ram instead of atk over. If I had Utopia, I would have a 1250 atk Utopia with 1 piece left on it.
Another benefit (along with its immunity to Fiendish Chain) is its utility with Monster Reborn and Call Of The Haunted. It doesn't lose anything from not having pieces, so it's revived in the same state it was summoned in.
