So I decided maybe I should in fact play Kagero. Now, how to build it on the cheap?
First question is, can I replace those ugly mofos, Joka and Rakshasha, with some other commons or something?
Second question is, how many Trial Decks are needed? Will just one get the job done?
Third question is, do I need to buy anything further than that? I already ordered Follower, Reas, because she's mega cute. If her, combined with her badass buddy, Chain-attack Sutherland, are really good to have in a deck, might be willing to buy him, too. But how many of each would I need?

Well, shoot. Goku and Overlord alone make it more expensive than Royal Paladin. I thought Kagero was supposed to be a cheaper alternative. Plus, no Sutherland? He so cool.

With RP, you're basically buying two TDs and two Blaster Blades, yeah?

Actually why worry about Overlord? You get 2 in TD02.
2 TDs
2 Gokus ($4 if you know where to look)
Finished.
2 Barris
1 Conroe when you can get them as well

So I can make do as long as I have four Goku? I guess this really is the cheapest option, huh? But what makes Goku so important exactly? Also, where do I look for $2 Goku? XD

If money wasn't an issue is there anything you can add to this or this pretty much the best kagero deck.

SEVEN triggers? Wat?
*goes to reread card*
That's not on the card. Is it a combo effect, then? Also, I just realized, he is probably based on the famous Dragon Ball Goku. Awesome.

Err.... don't forget about the 2 Soul Saver Dragons (35/ea), 2 Alfred (25/ea), 2 extra Bors, Barcgal (7) and 2 Iseult (18/ea), not to mention 3-4 Pongal (4/ea) and the random Young Pegasus Knights, Akane, etc. that you might run.
The fact that your Grade 3 line is included in Trial Decks means that the deck's going to be significantly less expensive than ones where they're chase booster RRRs. Even with the Null Guards, Kagero only costs less than $100 to make a full-fledged, tournament-winning deck which only requires slight upgrades (7-8 cards from Booster 2, 0-4 from Booster 4 and 5). If you really want 'budget', you can even ignore the Null Guards for a while and deal with just 2 Trial Decks, 2 Goku, and a Conroe plus maybe Kinnaras and Gatling Claw Dragons from Booster 2. I'm not quite sure how you can do better than a $80 investment initially and $10-15 to keep your deck current throughout the next year...

Except for the fact that Goku is a Kinnara when you check a Grade 3 instead of a +5000, making him significantly better. Plus, the 'bomb' Grade 3 (Overlord) is also currently Kagero's best Rear Guard unit, meaning that there's no clogging at the Vanguard circle like you get with most other utility Grade 3s.

Throw in 4 Kimnara's and done.
Also I was saying Goku $4 each, check CoolStuffInc or T&T

Basically, you get up to an extra 7 psuedo-triggers (effects that activate off drive checks)

Not even close to being related to him.
This Goku is based on legends and myths of the Chinese,
about a human being mentored by a dragon.
Please don't assume such things again.
The Kagero clan is based on Legends and Empires of the world.
Embodiment of Armor, Bahr = Sakuretsu Demon Armor
Embodiment of Spear, Tahr = Gungnir, the Spear of Odin
Embodiment of Victory, Aleph = Ultimate Weapon and Ultimate Armor
Those are just examples of such.

We are talking cheap b*****d decks here, bro. No frills, only absolute essentials.
Speaking of which, let's do a right fast comparison.
Would it be accurate to say that 2x Royal Paladin TD + 2 Blaster Blade is equivalent to 2x Kagero TD + 2 Goku? This stuff seems to parallel up a lot. If there isn't a very big difference between the prices, I would lean more towards RP. Really, I'm kind of just desperate to make a deck at a price I can afford that isn't necessarily great, but, you know, doesn't have an utter lack of Grade 3s.

Oh, I get it now. It basically effectively turns other Grade 3 cards into triggers.

First of all, it's still incorrect to say Dragon Monk Goku is based on DBZ Goku. Both are characters based on certain aspects of the Monkey King Sun Wukong from the Journey to the West.
Secondly, a Goku deck is much cheaper compared to nearly any RP build, and is quite effective considering how cheaply made it is. Goku's ability allows you to retire a G1 unit every time you Drive check a G3, regardless if the attack hits or not. Thus, you put a lot o pressure on your opponent as you slowly take out his back row support, as well as forcing him/her to use up their hand guarding against your attacks.

Okay, fair enough, I should have said, "Based on the same thing as Dragon Ball Goku."
I do kind of dig that aggressive, fierce strategy, too, yeah...

While I'm not that concerned with being "competitive," are you saying that the Kagero equivalent is just plain better?

Yes. Goku Builds are pretty much the go-to deck for budget players.

Lets put it this way: 2 RP trial decks + 2 blasters is less complete and competitive and not as good as 2 Kagero trail decks + goku as the kagero have their grade 3 in the deck already. not to mention in order to complete the deck you are missing verrrrrrrry few things. the ONLY money card you are missing is Barri, which is 15-20 each since the deck is sooo cheap and easy to make. He is your null guard, and you would *like* to have 3-4 of him. He is very important to be competitive.
Overall the 2TD + x formula totally works out for Kagero WAY more than RP. Theyre very bad with just the blasters as you dont even have future knight lliew to do his blaster blade superior ride. (Meaning just go Kagero, its MAD cheap). Or if you wish to invest money and just play a nice cool deck play Oracle Think Tank (VERY pricy at the moment xD)

All right. Guess this is the way to do this thang.
So I'm gonna buy two TDs, two Gokus, and then whatever random inexpensive stuff I need. Now, is Chain-attack Sutherland and Follower, Reas any good, or should I just leave them alone?
I also want to buy a box of the new set to maybe make some money and/or get some trade bait and/or good cards for myself. Is there any particular time I should preorder one, or should I just wait until it releases?
OH, and both Troll and Toad and CoolStuffInc are sold out of Goku.
How long is it until T&T restocks this stuff? They also have a great price on Blaster Blade, though it may well go up when they actually restock.
Also, what's gonna be the best way to obtain two Kagero Trial Decks? The price for one on Troll and Toad looks nice, but when I tried putting it in the card and checking the shipping, it said something ridiculous like $7...
